Hello! I'm Shortstop17 obviously and I am new here. I would like to pick your minds for a moment if you would allow me. I have been a Youth group leader in my home church for six years now and have recently been nominated to teach a new College and Career class during Sunday school hours starting in Jan.
Working with the teens has always been a joy to me and I felt up to the task because I knew the kids well and knew it was greatly needed. But after many hours of searching my mentor and I were unable to come up with a lessons book that fit the needs of the kids that we will be expecting in the class, so we decided to make up our own lessons.
The problem is I am only 23 and I have only ever been to a community college. My experience is lacking a bit but I trust that my faith will make up for it. My question is simple: If anyone has any ideas of topics to teach on or any questions they think kids between the ages of 18-21 or so would ask regarding to life as a Christian and finding your path at that age please let me know!
A few Ideas we have already, that we are going to start with is in Nehemiah. I am going to use his story of rebuilding Jerusalem as an example of leadership and work ethic.
But like i said I am also looking to answer questions the kids may have about college and stuff along those lines too. Plus my class is intended to be year round so Ill need some other ideas and I don't want to repeat the lessons I have taught them in the past so i need some fresh ideas!
I appreciate any feedback and also wanted to say thank you for having me! I am blessed to be apart of this community! =)

there are alot of resources online.

In college there is a lot of temptation and peer pressure to party and do drugs. I think if you found scriptures that helped people keep strong their faith in God and fight off the temptations to do evil that would help.

I always like learning and talking about Fruits of the Spirit.

on a quick search I found this website and it has some good topics you could use:

Young Adult and College Age Bible Lessons > Online Bible Class

I would do something about using finances wisely, how to speak to someone who is not Christian, etc.

You can pm me if you like. I love discussing the Bible and how to help our youth learn more about God.
