hi cc
I didn't know where to post this but i have something on my mind. stammering(stuttering) What ever you call people repeat words sometimes. Take me for instance. Im 40 precent deaf so therefore i stammer. (although my dad seems to think it dosnt involve hearing) Anyway my point in writing this boring speech is I wanna talk, you i the chat room. Only thing is a stammer when I'm nervous and i don't want people to just smile and nod. What would you do if you was me type or speak anyway. Also a sside note does anyone know if theres a "cure" to get rid of stammering?

I have a stammer, it was much worse when I was younger even in my early 20s, I could barely even say my own name at times without stammering. I think I discovered reading helps, I don't why, I noticed a pattern that the more I read the less I stammered but know. I think its gotten better because I think about it less. Being self conscience of it I would always approach speaking, expecting to stammer, so I stammer. I think practicing helps, continually speaking those certain words that you find hard to get out. I had something else in mind but I've lost my train of thought man lol

I used to slur my speech from time to time as a result of speaking too quickly (I still do it from time to time). Recognizing the problem is a big step, yet it's just the beginning. What helped me particularly was to be aware of it; from there, I made, and still do, a conscious effort to slow down my rate of speech, as well as focus on the flow of words.

Apart from being aware of your impediment and making a conscious effort to correct it each day, there are also speech trainers/coaches that can help. Many focus on public speaking, but a tutor like that could guide you through how to adjust so you stammer less.
