I've never been baptized and I've had many tell me because of this I won't get into heaven.

If God is wiling to forgive criminals and murders why would he turn his back on me?

That's not true. Baptism is a public confession of your belief in Christ's death and resurrection. It is that heart felt belief, and not the wet confession thereof, that gets you in. But that's not to say you shouldn't do it. There is spiritual release and fulfillment in it. And Jesus says we should.

God will never turn His back on you. Haven't you been reading the OSAS threads ;) ?

There are some who think of themselves as Christians but are not, because they deny the original Gospel, that being that God sent his son Jesus to come to this world in human flesh, live a perfect life among sinful Man, die as our atoning sacrifice and be raised again to everlasting life on the third day. That is the Gospel (i.e. Good News).

If Man needed to be baptized to receive this Gospel, then this wouldn't be very good news for those living in the Sinai Peninsula or the Gobi Desert. Ask anyone who tells you that you need to be baptized to receive the Holy Spirit or to be saved, "What is baptism then? Sprinkling with water? Submersion in a tub? Submersion in a river with running water?" Because chances are the people claiming this haven't even been properly baptized.

Baptism comes from one of the rituals in the Old Testament that God gave the Jews. This ritual is called the mikvah, and is primarily used to clean them of ceremonial impurity. It was also sometimes used in conjunction with the "sin" offering (your Bible probably says "sin", but this word can refer to both sin or ceremonial impurity such as in after child birth).

At any rate, if baptism is necessary to be saved, then you need to tell them that they're still going to hell. Because they likely haven't been baptized properly. To be baptized properly (in the mikvah sense), you needed to be fully submersed in living water (i.e. water that is flowing, oxygenated and can support life). The New Testament also connects Jesus' redemptive work to this ritual by calling him the water of life. We are washed in his blood. The stain of sin is cleansed, etc.

Baptism is not necessary for salvation, but it is still commanded by Jesus. It is a public affirmation of what we believe, who we are, what Christ has done for us, and it often gives us a moment to share our testimony about how we came to believe in Christ.

well, first of all, do not listen to people. they will always lead you astray with rare exception.

next, read old and new testaments simultaneously - a chapter of matthew, then genesis, then psalms , then luke, then john and so on
as you are able to , as god permits and delights in your life seeking him,
and
ask god to show you why he rejects who he rejects, and why he receives who he receives. he is in charge,

and he will tell you if he wants to.

if he doesn't want to , then no one will be able to either.

no one else besides jesus has the words of eternal life. this is written. this is unchangeable. this is forever true.

so ask him. listen to him. spend time with him frequently, listening to him as well as telling him everything and asking him every day for what you need.

he will answer you and lead you to life, or he will harden your heart so you cannot find life -- one or the other. and only he knows
what is going to happen every day of your life, and only he is able to save you. no one else can, ever.

he does have a promise or 2 (or 1000) , indicating or telling you directly, how you may receive life and life abundantly(with joy, and with peace, and with righteousness as well as eternal life; all without merit and literally for no reason at all except he chose you. and if he is for you. if he gives you life. if he choses you,

then no one can take you away from him....... except yourself. that's why he wrote in the bible "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" and again "be afraid lest any of you should fall short..."

but you'll have to see this in scripture yourself to gain anything at all from God.....

and if you do, then you will have the most amazing joy and peace that you have ever dreamed about....

but if you get distracted with what people say about you, and not what God says about you,

well, let's just say that then you won't have so much peace..... and leave it at that for now..... it hurts too much to think about.

rather simply and always seek him, and as a good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep, he will guide you himself --- that is his promise in his word, the bible.

This is interesting, brother. Now what if there aren't many people to observe this testimony in the first place.
Or the ones that are there are not your church/fellowship ppl.
notwithstanding the testimony of your faith in Jesus that you may have spoken to many ppl... Without the baptism ofcourse.
i live in India, where I cannot find a single soul that believes in Christ. And in any case I personally do not know anyone.

would then, it be a good idea to get baptized NOW?
I mean I would surely want to be baptized at an opportune moment IN FRONT of ppl
so that it all makes sense just not to my heart but to logic and all that you spoke of.

i have received the Holy Spirit and Christ is doing amazing things in my life.
But somehow I don't feel it in my spirit that baptism is going to kinda be like a "high" if you know what I'm saying here...
i know it fulfills scripture but there are so many things it might not.
like the public confession part.
