I'm not sure what the greatest advice for this, would say pray about it plenty, and try to view her as a sister rather than as someone you are attracted to. I do wonder what exactly you mean by infatuation, because I know there are several different ideas of what it means.

well she think of me as a little brother since im 6 years younger but for some reason i cant picture her as a big sister! some people said that letting her know about my feelings would gonna make this go away and that's what i did almost 2 months ago but its still here! it really sucks cuz whenever i feel like this so called "love" is starting to fade away, the feelings always comes back stronger whenever i see her.

Hmmm well that is rather difficult then, I mean i've liked plenty of people in the past that didnt see me the way I saw them. I usually didnt move on till I found a new person that took my attention away, which is how Im dealing with my current issues. BUt thats usually not the best option, I would stick with praying, you could be having feelings for her for a reason, but do keep your eyes and be willing to listen...

Dear Bobie,

I have had this issue repeatedly in my life, initially, before I was a Christian, I had a MAJOR LUST ISSUE, and it led to horrible difficulties in my earliest years as a young man, pornography, chasing anyone in a skirt, etc.......Satan had me hooked through my nose and was pulling me around any which way he wanted to..........uuugh! Trust me it was not pretty at all.

The LORD dealt with this, however, by a very simple procedure................I kept hearing from various ministers, churches here and there, about asking GOD to give me HIS EYES, meaning how HE sees life, people, and all the rest.............Well I kept doing this for a long time, and I GUESS WHEN I REALLY MEANT IT, HE DID JUST THAT. Now that was years and years ago, and it enabled me to SEE EVERY OLD PERSON AS MY MOTHER OR FATHER, OR GRANDMOTHER OR GRANDFATHER, EVERY WOMAN IN AND AROUND MY OWN AGE AS MY SISTER , AND LIKEWISE FOR MY BROTHERS, AND EVERY YOUNG LADY OR MAN AS MY CHILDREN..............

This caused the "IDOLATRY" That I was experiencing to just vanish in about a week or so..............Yeah the enemy kept trying to come back at me and tempt me again to go down that road, but I just kept telling him I AM DELIVERED FROM THIS, AND I WILL NOT OBEY HIM ANYMORE............

That's what GOD did for me and I am happy to say it's still working the same way today, as it was in the first week.......

I am praying for you ...........

I had something like this happen to me years ago. Its hard because that person is always on your mind but seporation is key. When you're seporated from that person you start living your own life. If its someone you no longer want to be in your life dont talk to them either. Out of sight, out of mind. You get over it and it becomes no big deal.

well i wish i could do that! i see her 3 times a week and its gonna stay like that for the next 6 months since we're classmates! anyway we stop talking to each other anymore and maybe that's a good thing but for some reason it kinda hurt to see her ignore me! maybe because the feeling is still here!

In my experience infatuation is an unstoppable force and there's no way to overcome it beyond simply living with the feelings and eventually they will diminish, seperation is good but if you're in the same class for 6 months then you have the choice to talk to her or just ignore her and bear it.

If you think she is compassionate and caring then maybe talking to her would help, it might enable you to stop feeling uncomfortable ignoring her and if she tells you honestly she isn't interested then it will help you turn the corner, that's a judgement call only you can make, the only other suggestion I can make is try and distract yourself when you begin to dwell on your feelings, keep busy and focused on something else, I know it might sound a little obvious but consider starting a project, something small you can plan and then execute, focusing your attention on something might make the time pass a little quicker while your feeling this way.

I went through this over a certain girl for about two years of my life. You want to know what the cure is. Stay away from that person. If you constantly allow yourself to be in contact with that person you will never get over it.
I was stationed in Spain and had a thing for a girl. She rejected me plenty of times, but I kept coming back thinking there was some kind of chance she would change her mind. Well I ended up being deployed to Japan for a couple of months, and by the time I got back she,and the rest of my squadron had moved back to the states. So I was away from her for a couple of more months. By the time I got back she told me she had a boyfriend. Well the time away really helped. I don't know what else to tell you. But ask yourself if being in contact with this person has helped at all.

It could last longer than two months if you do not separate yourself. Do you work with her or go to school with her or something? Why can't you separate yourself?

Y'all mention separation as a way to get over a crush, but what if the person is a good friend? It seems rather silly to stop hanging out with a good friend you have a crush on just so you can get over the crush.

I've been infatuated with different people on two occasions. In my experience what worked for me in overcoming this infatuation was to be a total creep and then be treated with complete contempt and then slowly become very annoyed at the individual I was originally infatuated with. Yes, it's happened twice, but I'll be darned if it happens again. People are people. Once I got to know them - even if I hadn't creeped them out to begin with - I probably wouldn't've remained with them for long, because they weren't that great of people... Attributes included: beer pong, ignoring their family and friends, being a hypocritical wise crack, indecisiveness, premarital sex, past history of drug abuse... Yeah, I really knew how to pick them... I'm no high-and-mighty, myself, but I certainly know someone who exhibited one or more of those attributes wouldn't sit well with me in a relationship.

Yah, the girl I liked was my friend too. A really good friend, but you have to ask yourself if it is worth all the emotional distress you put yourself through, plus why are you lying to yourself, you know you want to be more than friends with that person anyways.

Why do you have to give up the crush? Just enjoy it for what it is - crushes are fun! Don't let it worry you that nothing more will come of it - there are lots of things in this world we can never have.

I still have a crush on someone from years ago - but I would never act on it even if it was possible - we are different people now and it is just a fond memory - I think reality would just wreck it, anyway!
