I've been using chat programs since AIM, Yahoo and WLM were a thing. GTalk died when they switched to hangouts and at long last Facebook does not appear to be as popular as it used to be.

So has everyone resorted to mobile junk? I don't use kik, snapchat, or WhatsApp.

I've recently started using qTox. ( https://tox.chat/ )
It's serverless, cross-platform, opensource, secure, and easy to use, unlike Skype which is no longer serverless since Microsoft killed it. :p

So what do you use? Besides ChristianChat's flash chat lobby of course. :D

As a side note, if you anyone would like to test qTox PM me for the ToxID.

Yeah it's almost all mobile now but if you want group chat it's usually Skype. Kik and most texting apps are superior to Yahoo/AIM/MSN (R.I.P.) in every way except you don't get the epic Y! emotes.

Pidgin is a nice alternative if you/others are hanging onto using AIM, Yahoo, etc. screen names. It's an app that allows chatting through all of those services from one client/program.

But there are so many flipping apps now that I don't bother to keep track of them all. I think Jonah basically nailed it.

WhatsApp is very good, use it when I'm out off the UK for text/phone calls, Skype is good for video...

WhatsApp phone calls are not really good, especially when you don't have a super duper fast internet signal. LINE is much better for phone calls.

WhatsApp has always worked pretty good for me on phone calls...Very few of my contacts/friends use LINE unfortunately...
