Hi all,

It's my first time posting here. I was hoping to get some advice regarding a relationship. So whilst I was on a church camp, I started getting to know a wonderful woman better. It was as if we could talk about anything with each other, problems, personal issues and religious views. She told me that she was in a relationship for about three years now, but that her religion is suffering, as her boyfriend does not believe at all and does not really put any effort in the relationship with regard to religion. I did not know how to respond to this. It seemed that she was on the verge to break the relationship with him. I could see that she started to like me, as she started talking to me more and more, about deep and emotional topics. I too started to like her, and I was sure she noticed as well. We talked for a few weeks but then her boyfriend saw our messages. I have not heard anything from her since then. I know that I sinned, as I knew she was in a relationship and still talked to her and supported her in a way that a boyfriend would. Nothing happened between us, but I felt guilty about the whole thing and I find it hard to not hear anything from her. Why would God allow someone to become so close to someone and then just cut all ties with that person? I prayed for strength to help me with this, but I still can't stop thinking about her. Any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance

Oh well be glad she cut off contact. Someone complaining to another wants to rebound and she hadn't even cut it off with him. Say sorry Lord and move on and never fall for it again. If you had gotten a relationship with her 2 years later she'd complain to someone else about you.
Be happy that you learned something. You talked to her, I bet God didn't tell you to.

He gave us the ability to choose. He didn't allow it in the sense that you mean. You did. You knew she was in a relationship yet let yourself feel for her. God didn't do that. You show you assumed she'd pick you. Now you're hurting.. Never want someone who's not done with something.. You deserve to know that you'll be chosen

Hey dawson12 :)

this sounds like a hard situation for sure. I understand how you feel. I've had situations before where I wondered why God let me go through such an emotional rollercoaster. To be honest, I haven't really found the answers. But as times gone on I've started to think that maybe the reason is something I can't see. Maybe that connection, though painful for myself, was an opportunity for God to touch the other persons life, to reach out to them. Even if you're worried maybe you messed it all up, God can still work through the ashes. You don't always really get to find out, but you can sure hope, and especially pray, that God touched their lives.

You say you know you sinned, and yes technically that's true, but don't be so hard on yourself because when it comes to matters of the heart it's not always easy to push someone away who you care about. I'm not saying what you did was right, I'm just saying you have to forgive yourself. It's very important to ask God for forgiveness, but sometimes we forget to forgive ourselves.

Keep praying for her, pray that her situation becomes better. You may never hear from her again, but it's ok because God is watching over her for you. It's gonna hurt for a bit, but I promise it will eventually get better :)

God let you?
Satan attacks in these situations too. Stay close to God. Pray for discernment and wisdom

She was in a relationship you allowed yourself to become closer than a friend knowing that. I mean you figured she'd leave the other guy I guess and go with you but bottom line is you shouldn't be other than friends with people that are already in relationships. You know that's wrong and your feelings are hurt, move on if she isn't ending her relationship with the other guy. She probably just needed someone to talk to and you were available, when your talking to the opposite sex about relationship problems and such this stuff is bound to happen and happens all the time. Use wisdom :) No condemnation just move on and be wise about things.
