No disrespect to any who have tattoos especially since some said they do, but... Your body is a Temple. It should be treated as Such. Would you go "tagging" the Holy Temple In Jerusalem?

I don't have any tattoos and wouldn't get one myself, but you can make the same case for unhealthy food. That wasn't around when God first created the Earth. Do you eat nothing but lettuce and greens? Or do you also treat your temple with unhealthy food?

I understand and respect what you're saying, my brother. I have no excuse for my actions other than to say I want people to see my faith in Jesus even when we're just in passing. And no, I wouldn't tag any other temple.

I love it!!!! Thanks for sharing that, Magenta.
You are very welcome! It even looks like the left arm, although it says "Jesus Christ"
and not just Jesus, as yours does, as well as the "King of Kings Lord of Lords." :D

Leviticus 19:28 - Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I [am] the LORD."

This was part of the Mosaic Law. The reason God made this a Law is because of ownership. At the time of Exodus and before conquering countries placed a tattoo mark on people that were slaves. Pagans also used to cut themselves in remembrance of their dead as did certain occult practitioners then and now.

God did not want the Israelite's to place a printed mark on themselves for they were his people and by not being marked they were showing they were free. If they had marked themselves it would have told the world that God did not deliver them from Egypt and they were still captives. Remember also, that Cain had a mark placed upon him identifying him, so that no man would seek vengeance and kill him.

God used circumcision to mark the Israelite males, this started with Abraham and last through Jacob and his descendants through the Egyptian bondage and Exodus. Moses continued the practice.

For Gentile Christians we were sealed by the Holy Spirit starting at Pentecost.

This law really has nothing to do with modern day Tattoos, and everything to do with God identifying his people.

As an aside, this is why so many Jews were killed outright or tried to commit suicide for refusing to let the Nazi's place a "printed mark" upon them during WWII and the Holocaust.

I will never have one, personal choice, but they are not a SIN as long as they are not used in occultist practices.

Yes, it’s a sin.
For it is written, "Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the LORD (Leviticus 19:28). To mark your skin with tattoos is a sin just as lying, greediness, selfishness etcare sins. For it is writing “All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death (1 John 5:17). To mark your skin with tattoos is a wrong doing. To mark your skin with tattoos is gratifying the flesh, and the Bible says we should not gratify the flesh.

For it is written, “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-25)

Finally, it is written, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).”

This is your tattoo Meganta?

I love your passion. It's a statement of your faith I think that much is clear to see! :)

But can I ask, did you pray before getting this first or was it something you done on the spur of the moment or you was building up to it and deciding what to get?

Just curious. :)

It is simply a tattoo I found online; when our brother Utah mentioned his, I went to look for one that was as close as he described his being... and it is even on the same arm! Just for the record, I have neither tats nor piercings :D But that was not for religious reasons, for I have only been Christian for the last one fifth of my life :) If you have seen me around a bit you know I love to post images, also, so I am constantly on the hunt for them to share here. I have posted other tattoos on other threads... I thik I posted some in the praise thread. I hope people don't think those were mine too! hahahahahahaha :D

Ok then and this is how we get distorted communicated Bible knowledge...

The Bible does not Do not tattoo yourselves for the dead it says:

Leviticus 19.28

You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord.

There are 2 laws here not one, please stop spreading around distorted communicated Bible knowledge and stick with what the Word of God really says.

lol I didn't mean to be insulting. It is true, yeah I am against them, but at least you have a tattoo of faith instead of something else, and at least it looks good. Still, not for me, and Aghhhh your penguins icon angers me. (Bruins and Sharks fan) :p

I find it hard to understand why anyone would want to mutilate themselves in this way. Once done a person is stuck with it for life unless they undertake surgery then they are stuck with a scar instead. I feel the same way about having bits of shrapnel stuck in ones flesh.
