Guess what? It's no different when you are 71 and look around, only to see that there is really no purpose for you being here.

Dear HistoryPrincess:

"Spiritual things" are indeed a part of real life, just not one you're capable of witnessing with your eyes. Whether you believe it or not, there is a spiritual war going on right now between spiritual entities of good and evil and each is vying for your soul from another realm. Spiritual entities are not a figment of our imaginations or only a state of mind as the Bible tells us in...

Ephesians 6:12 - For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Pray to Jesus for protection against these entities. Their goal is destruction of not only your life, but your soul that will live on after your weakened and punished body has faded from this world. Don't give them the satisfaction of believing they've won your soul.

In the meanwhile, we will pray the same for you.

This might sound even more depressing, but go visit people in your area who you think might be living through worse conditions than yourself. I guaranty that your plight might actually serve as comfort to others and while you may not realize it, you will probably bring inspiration to someone less fortunate than yourself, which in turn might help you to feel better about your life and your situation. Become a volunteer somewhere. Doing for others is wonderful therapy for yourself and for others.

Sincerely,
Mya
I feel guilty enough about having what a lot of people don't. And I also have a five-day-a-week job, so I don't have a lot of free time.

Romans 8:12-13
So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh-- for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Romans 6:11-14
Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Titus 2:12

instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,

1 Peter 4:2

so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, ..
.

Matthew 10:38

"And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

Galatians 6:14

But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Romans 6:8

Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,

Romans 6:6-7
knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.

Ephesians 4:22-23
that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

The thing is, I have needs in my life God simply can't meet. When people say God can meet all my emotional needs, they're lying. They may not think so, but they are. I always get frustrated when people tell me I should just be satisfied with God, because then I would have to lie too, and I hate lying.

Even though I don't know your situation, and probably haven't been in it, I do understand your frustration.
The thing is, if God cannot satisfy your needs, we surely cannot :(

Is there someone there (in real life, rather than online) that can be there for you and help you?

I'm not asking anybody to meet my unmet needs. I know no human can, but apparently God isn't interested in helping me in that area either. I'm probably just going to have to stick it out until he either comes back or I die.

You have needs you say God can't meet..... Why/how is that, unless it's a carnal need?

IMO all the truth hasn't been told here.

Not to be insensitive, but when you try to claim that your own Creator isn't capable of meeting your emotional needs, you're lying to yourself (or the little demons in your head are lying to you). Unfortunately, only time, age, and wisdom can prove to you that nothing in this life is truly satisfying until you come to recognize your Creator for who he truly is....your Savior and only shot at contentment until this life is over and the one of perfection begins.

Yup, I know that feeling! But if you don't have purpose here Willie, I'm doomed. Cuz you're about the best thing this site has going! Everybody knows that.

Hey HistoryPrincess, here's a few ideas of things you might do that'll make some happiness bloom in your life. And I bet you'll find a few great friends along the way, too.

Sharing

  1. Seniors love your artwork and crafts! Brighten their walls - and their smiles - at the local senior center or nursing home.
  2. Got a favorite game? Teach it to younger kids.
  3. Organize canned goods at home and take extras to a food pantry.
  4. Got talent? Share it to make someone happy!
  5. Your old backpack needs a new friend...donate it!
  6. Gather up outgrown, gently worn shoes and clothes for your local Salvation Army, Goodwill, church or synagogue.
  7. Party leftovers? Local soup kitchen guests are gonna love 'em!
  8. Neglected stuffed animals in your room? Little kids at shelters are aching to cuddle them.
  9. Like a challenge? Your game board skills are in demand at the senior center.
  10. Friend forgot their snack? Share yours!
  11. Read aloud to little kids at the library - they'll love you!
  12. Dust off your old - but still good - books and give them to your school library.

Giving

  1. It's your birthday! Give a gift to someone in need.
  2. Share your lemonade stand $$$ with your favorite worthy cause!
  3. How about a toy drive for kids stuck in the hospital?
  4. Get a haircut! And give your ponytail to Locks of Love.
  5. Got old sports equipment? Bring it to your local Parks & Rec for the kids!
  6. Calling all chefs! Bake cakes and donate the proceeds... or the cakes!
  7. Feed your furry friends at the animal shelter...visit with them and drop off a bag of food!
  8. Time is precious...share a bit of yours to help others.
  9. Kind words lift spirits...give a compliment and lift yours too.

I found those ideas online. Try a few of them & see if you feel better.

I really meant that, Willie. You are always reaching out to everyone here, young and old, from all walks of life. You give of yourself with all your heart, the way the Lord asks us to do. You aren't a respecter of persons either. Your friendship is faithful. And just so HistoryPrincess will know how important that is to others, how much of a difference one person can make in so many others' lives, I dedicate this Christian song by Dave Boyer to you, our precious brother and friend, Willie.

My son, who has been struggling mightily, recently said to me, "I wish I could be an old time farmer. Just get up, work hard from dawn to dusk, raise a family".

Ahh, the simple life. When the necessities of life took up most of our time. With all the conveniences of today, we still seem to have LESS time to just relax and love.

I don't know what you are struggling with. I only know the world will be a little darker without people like you or my son, or the the untold others who could leave us too soon. Your pain won't just go away with you going away. It will simply be transferred to so many others that love you.

Holy Father, please pour Your Spirit out on this young lady, my son, and everyone else struggling in this fallen, broken, world. In Jesus Name I pray.

How is needing more human touch and another human being (one I'm not related to) to talk to and share my life with a carnal need? Maybe I'm just tired of reaching out to someone I can't prove exists or is talking to me in the first place.

God can't hold me or speak to me audibly (or maybe he only does that to the super-spiritual). He doesn't need me for anything. He may love me but he loves everyone the same way, so how is it any different from any other person?

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you. Psalms 139:13-18

i know it's hard to understand. It's hard for me as well. But God created you and you are precious to Him. If you were the only one that was to except the gift of salvation then He would've died just for you. That's how much He loves you. He will leave the 99 others to find you. There's a song I know. It's God speaking saying: how else can I display my love for you? But by surfing my blood for you? What more could I do, I gave you my life.

that is how much He loves you

HistoryPrincess,

That post needs some explanation. I have been feeling a little down on myself, so AuntieAnt is trying to show you (and me, at the same time) that even if you are an opinionated, aggravating, obnoxious A/H like me....... which you haven't lived long enough to have perfected like I have.... you STILL probably have some small measure of positive influence that someone, somewhere has noticed and considered worthwhile. So, you are certainly worth a lot more.
