I haven't read all of the posts... but I'd like to say that although I'm a big supporter of Trump and have wanted to see him win the presidency for a long time... I am also very nervous now because I don't agree at all with him on a few things like threatening a 35% import tax on companies like Toyota which isn't even an american company, simply because they are building cars elsewhere which they sell here, even though they have plants here in the US which they built of their own freewill. Not only is that tax going to kill sales and cost jobs, but it is just plain idiotic.

He really needs to seek more counsel with matters like this because something like that could really hurt the economy even if it forces companies to hire americans. People love being able to afford Toyotas and Hondas and BMWs. Putting a 35% tax on them would make a lot of people angry and it would really be unfair to those companies since they aren't even american companies to begin with!

I'm not sure if the 35% tariff will be placed on companies that are currently operating outside the US and import to the US. I believe that it applies to companies currently producing products in the US but are contemplating eliminating American jobs and produce their products in another company with cheaper labor and then import the products to the US. It seems like it will be a nightmare to oversee.

He already threatened BMW and Mercedes with that 35% import tax. I am 99.9% sure I read that he threatened Toyota with it too.

I'm not sure if it was Trump's intention to start a trade war. This has the potential to get messy. I understand if you had a company that was totally headquartered in the US, making products in the US, with American workers but don't see how you can regulate a company that is currently producing both in the US and in foreign countries.

Seems like if a company that was in the US and had to layoff some workers for economic reasons would be jeopardy of having their imports hit with a 35% tariff even though the layoffs had nothing to do with the companies current foreign production.

I understand Trump's intention to prevent US job losses but don't see how it would be determined that the imports had to do with domestic loss of US manufacturing production in the company's domestic operation.

I'm still mad that no one voted for me.

I thought we were friends.

Are you guys nervous about him being president or are you looking forward to it?
Very enthusiastic. He thinks just like I do. So far he is doing very good. Praise the Lord God of Heaven for giving America a strong Christian to minister to me.

I'm looking forward to the change that was promised 8 years ago, but never happened.. Marrying queers, and suing bakers for their beliefs, and forcing gender-confused bathrooms on the general public is not 'change' to me.
What? You didn't experience pocket change? All the dollars gone, nothing left but pocket change?!

Exactly. From what I've read though it seems that he is specifically concerned with companies who are building cars in Mexico that are being sold in the US (so I guess that's acceptable). BMW and Merc. are building cars in Mexico that are being sold in the US and Toyota has plan to build a plant in Mexico. (Maybe I should actually read the articles first before forming an opinion next time...)

Don't no exactly what there is to be scared about. It's just an overreaction from people. Yes I'm excited because the status quo seems to be shifting in a positive way
