Set goals and like if you read x number of pages in your book take a break, get some candy, do something rewarding. That way it helps. It's always better to positively reward yourself then negatively as far as conditioning goes. Also set aside personal time every week that you do something you want to do. Remember life is a balance so if you do one thing all the time it throws you off that balance.

I like taking a walk for 30mins-1hr and bring my iPod with me. Either listen to a CD or a podcast.

Another fun thing is to crack a beer (or soda), maybe get a snack, and watch 30-40 mins of TV. This one is a bit more dangerous though :p because it's easy to say "just one more episode..." If you've got a video game that is fun to pick up and play for 20-40 mins, that might be another alternative. But a lot of video games I play take more time, so I don't usually bother.

you could try studying in a group or in pairs.. well sometimes this can be more of a distraction, but if it works out well... it really does help.
and try to enjoy the subject and the course.. don't think of it as a burden or something which you have to get done or are being forced to do. once you genuinely start enjoying the subject.. life would seem a lot better! :)

I know how you feel I tend to focus to much on school, church, and ministry and don't really take any breaks to do other things such as date or just hang out with friends but we need to take time for enjoyable things like this so we don't get burned out on what we are doing.

If your looking for energy there is something you can do that will increase your energy level more in one week than if you changed your diet and exercise in your life for a year. This information is through a Personal Trainer a lot of people have heard of Anthony Robbins. It is a breathing exercise that is done on a 1-4-2 ratio.eg: Breathe in through your nose for 5sec: Hold Breathe for 20sec: Release Breathe through the mouth for 10secs: You are to start with a deep Breathe through your nose exhaled through the mouth ,and one of these Breathes between each set.You do a set of 10 three times a day.The maximum ratio to ever attain is 7 eg: in nose 7 hold 28 out mouth 14. NEVER do this to the point of feeling dizzy or tired; start the ratio at whatever you can comfortabley do and slowly work your way up. Hope this helps you, Its cheap! Luv & Peace in CHRIST!

My technique for surviving college is procrastinating until the last minute, and then cramming... it's worked well enough so far. And then with all the free time I have from procrastinating, I can stress out and be lazy at the same time!

It's sad that I can admit that, and still not be inspired to change. In any case, I wouldn't suggest you mimic my methods of studying. It's probably unhealthy.

Try creating a schedule and keeping it. Schedule your work/studying time and schedule your free time. And remember to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night (which is pretty much impossible for the average college student) because the body does need its rest in order to stay mentally (and physically) stable.
