Fasting is just not eating usually for 1-3 days sometimes longer.. people usually call it water fasting where all you have is water to drink

So not eating for spiritual matters is fasting? Obviously its not just starving yourself.

no. people fast to get their natural mind weakened so they can become more intune to things of the spirit.. its a way of killing the carnal mind/ killing the flesh to become more spiritual and open because you are literally denying yourself... I would encourage you to try it out and see for yourself, or even look at testimonies about fasting on youtube.

Have you ever done it?
yes for 2 weeks last time.. the first time i did it i felt weak because i usually eat like a king daily.. but my very first time i fasted for a week i felt weak and lethargic for the first 2 days and quite angry because.. well no food just water, but after day 3 peace came. I am pretty sure fasting isn't for everyone because not everyone has that type of willpower to do so.

So it has its benefits? Also, your not supposed to tell anyone that your fasting right?

there are also health benefits to it also because it will detox your body because all you are having is water. And yea you can tell someone that you are fasting, but don't announce it to the world, or try to show off that you are doing it. just keep natural as possible while doing it.

Fasting is too dangerous?
Its up to you to determine if God's word is safe or not... people draw lines in the sand, make excuses, and wonder why they don't get too far..If you are serious, and i mean like dead serious about fasting or anything of God you have to go for it, and cast all fears and opinions of others and even yourself down so you can move forward.

No, and I probably never will. That's just dangerous.
Yeah, that's why it's in the Bible. God is always telling us to do things that are harmful to us..

God is reasonable. If you have certain medical issues you have to address then address them. Perhaps instead of not eating anything you fast from meat. Or sugars. or whatever.

the point of fasting is to submit the flesh to the spiritual. That's where the prayer comes in. You are supposed to replace the eating with prayer to give the spiritual 'a foot up' on the flesh.

That's why without the prayer part, you're just starving yourself.

Well, it does have its health benefits, but I just don't think that depleting yourself of essential nutrients and dropping down your metabolism is worth it. Also, where in the Bible does it say that we have to fast? (Sorry, I haven't read much of it yet...)

...?

(Ten characters)
Matthew 6:16
“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

I look gloomy whether I'm fasting or not... and usually always not.

Matthew 17: 14When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying, 15“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic and is very ill; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16“I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.” 17And Jesus answered and said, “You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at once. 19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” 20And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. 21[“But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”]

It doesn't say you have to, it says you should. And why.
