For some reason I am still a little sad about my current job situation.

I'm currently "working" as a caregiver to my father. This is where I need to be. And if he works, then I'll basically be in British terms the "controller" of the house. Cleaning, maintenance, upkeep, ect.

Yet for some odd reason, I still feel like I need to be working. Not a 9-5, but even like little jobs online. I'm an artist, so naturally I keep trying to get commission and freelance work online. I've gotten two commissions from family and friends thus far, but that's it.

For some reason, that makes me sad. I'm trying to figure out how to put it into words....but the base feeling I have is sadness. I'm never gonna be able to do art for my work. People will never hire me. I'll never be able to provide for myself.

I think maybe the right label would be....feeling a career-based helplessness? No matter how much I advertise online (and I can only so much because I have no money really) no one is going to see me.

Maybe it goes deeper core issue. I feel ignored by those I would think want my art. Which is anyone. And in this case no one. I have always had separation anxieties and a deep sadness when feeling left out of things. Maybe that's it. I feel left out of being a successful artist. Or at least a used one.

I am currently at my rock bottom, broke and jobless myself so I know how you feel in this regard, and for a man that hurts especially hard. When we're in this position a vast hole exists within ourselves that is so easy to slip down into, causing us complete misery and despair leading to a lack of hope. I know I would love to work in the field of meteorology, or even formally study theology for ministry, but I know right now these possibilities are very slim. However! We have to acknowledge that God is able to do all things, and if we have something we want badly we shouldn't fail to always mention this desire in our prayers with the full belief God is able to do all things. When a loss of hope affects our confidence in God even a little, we can ask Him to grant our desires in vain, often unknowingly. Like the children of the Father that we are, we should live in hope in all things, praying for all things. I am fully confident that my current situation won't be forever, because I know He wants me to glorify Him more than I ever have done in my life, more than I can now. If we, like little children, ask the Father incessantly in faith to give us what we ask, perhaps He will indeed give us what we ask, but above all else we must desire that His will be done and not ours.

Being patient for His answers is the best we can do right now. I'm praying.

And yes, being patient and leaning on God to answer is all I can do. I send in an application every so often and pray "GOd if this is the job you want me to get let me geti t, but if not don't even let me get an interview."

Thanks brother, it's harder than it seems, I didn't do so well in school either and I know there are a hundred people more qualified than me for every single job in manufacturing that's out there, but hey, can't let it get me down right? I'll just use the time I have to be in the Word, until He grants me a breakthrough.

There's no fault in your approach at all. Whether you make a living doing art or not, I suppose the important thing to remember is in Colossians 3:17, to do all things in the name of Jesus, and your art is a way you glorify Him and it's something you can always do. As McGee mentioned, if you plan to marry I'm sure opportunities for making money from artwork will open up easier to you also. It's all about having an open mind to what the Lord wills in our lives, but you probably know these things already anyway. :)

Marry? I missed that part. I mean I'm planning to marry Blain at some point in both our lives so far, but I don't know how having a husband will get me more art jobs.

Anyhow. I'll keep on looking
