Hi,

I am a 22 year old female and I don't know many Christians. I cannot call myself any religion, but i really want to talk to a true, dedicated Christian because I do not understand a whole lot. My closest friends and my partner are Wiccan, Pagan, or undecided. I have one friend who is a Christian, but there are many topics that I'm too scared to bring up to him because he reacts to a lot of things by shutting down, pulling away, and diminishing contact. I don't want to sabotage the friendship. I need someone who is going to be open and more in-depth with me.

I have made so many decisions (mostly bad ones), gone through so many phases, and have had so many different views throughout my life. I am confused and I have been wanting to talk to a priest for a very long time. But I do not have a lot of access to that. Is there anyone who would be willing to talk with me? Whether on here, via email, facebook, or wherever?

Hello "...Know95" I have an idea; While you go thru discerning the people that will help you, I first would hope you start with people in private who are female, otherwise it is just complicated in a private setting, unless you know them well. Secondly there are things, of a lesser personal mode maybe you can ask us even now - here, in terms of questions you have concerning the Bible and its meaning. So, its nice to meet you and we would love to help you as a whole body of Christ.

Are there any questions people can start to help you answer, even now, (publicly)? We have all had a story right? But don't say anything that would be too personal. Be cautious about who you can trust in those things. Godly-counsel is not the only counsel available in other words....So May God Bless you here and feel free to ask anything you'd like to whomever you feel safe with.

Hello, I'm a relatively new rededicated Christian. Not sure if I have much to offer but can offer my friendship. I have people that God has put in my life that are of different Faith's. I don't share in some of the activities they do but I try to show the love of Christ by being friendly and loving. Firstly, before talking to anyone here reach out to God and ask Him for help in what ever situation you are in. Right now I'm going through a lot of trials because of my faith but God has been a comfort to me when I get on my knees and cry out to him for help. Jermiah 33:3 is a great scripture to know. Anyway, if you'd like a friend who loves Jesus I'm available and there are so many people here too.

Hi Idontknow,

Welcome to CC!!! Glad to have you here!

Do you
believe that the Lord is drawing you to Him? Do you have questions about eternity, why you're here on this earth, is there really a God, what's my purpose in life.....stuff like that?

Like Slave said, many here can answer your questions, all you need to do is go ahead and ask. But if you prefer private, I don't mind if you want to private message me.

Again, welcome to Christian Chat. Also, on the chat part of the site, you can ask questions there and usually there's mature Christians on there that might be able to answer some of your questions as well.

All the best!

Peace be with you in JESUS' NAME.
You are welcome and you are in a good place. But take note of this, you will meet Children of GOD here and also you will those who are children of the devil. Wherever Children of GOD are, the children of the devil also mingle among them to capture those that are weak. I pray that the HOLY SPIRIT help you meet those whom GOD ALMIGHTY has destiny you to meet, so that they will help you with the Truth which is the WORD of GOD. The HOLY SPIRIT will use them to help you.
Thanks be to GOD.
JESUS is LORD of all,

Sorry for the length of this, but this could help informationally as well. I just thought I would offer it to you...Remenber the gospels mean "good news"...but there will be a need to see things differently and that is why the Holy Spirit once you submit to God and ask Him into your life will unveil Himself to you in understanding His wisdom, His Spiritual truths; Spirit discerning spirit as it were. But a lot of this is yet to come in understanding what I mean, and that's my point. Don't get discouraged, but be encouraged that you are loved by God, and that there is no sin too big for God loves you just as you are, and will never leave you that way...Smile. In Christ, it's all good stuff, be encouraged, prepare your heart to put your work boots on and read His Word and let God take you thru life's trenches and bring you thru them victorious! (If "Hugelife; a member here) shows up tell her I'm sorry this is soooooo long- Smile (inside joke)....:

As we grow in Christ, it's important that we learn to dig into the Word of God for ourselves and not depend solely on the instruction of others. Consider the challenge from the writer of Hebrews:

Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil (Hebrews 5:13,14 NIV).

One of the best ways to get to the “solid food” of the Word is through “inductive” Bible study. The inductive method makes observations on a passage of Scripture and then draws conclusions based on those observations. Commonly, this method is defined by three parts: Observation, interpretation, and application.

Navigator Dwight Hill has broken this method into seven steps. Try it out on one of the short epistles—1 Thessalonians, Philippians, Colossians, or 1 or 2 Timothy.

1) Background

First, do a basic background study on the book: Who is the author? Why was it written? Learn the historical background, dates, key people and so on. Some Bibles have summaries at the beginning of each book that will provide some of this information. A Bible dictionary or online commentaries can also be helpful.

2) Personal Paraphrase

Starting with the first chapter, write out each verse or section of verses in your own words. This will help you understand each verse in wording that makes more sense to you.

Here is an example using 1 Timothy 1:1

Original Verse:

"Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope . . . " (1 Timothy 1:1 NIV).

Personal Paraphrase:

Paul, a proclaimer of Jesus Christ, obeying the instructions of God who is the One who saves us, and of Jesus Christ who is our hope...

3) Questions and Answers

Write down some questions you have about the passage, or unfamiliar or confusing terms that you come across.

Example:

Q. What does the word "apostle" mean? What does it mean to be one?

A. The Greek word apostolos comes from the verb apostello, which means "to send forth." So to be an apostle means to be someone who is sent forth—in this case by Christ to spread His message.

4) Cross References

Make a note of any similar or related passages that come to mind while you’re reading, paraphrasing, and asking questions about the passage. Consult a concordance, other study guides, or footnotes to collect related passages you may not have thought of.

Example:

Apostle: 2 Corinthians 1:1
God my Savior: Luke 1:47; Titus 1:3
Christ our hope: Colossians 1:27

5) Insights

If an observation occurs to you that relates to any part of the passage or its background, be sure to write it down.
Example:paul was commanded by God to be an apostle. It wasn’t something he decided to do on his own.

After completing your own analysis, consult a Bible commentary for additional insight. Seeking out other believers’ insights about the passage can provide a broader, more solid understanding of the passage than you might be able to come to on your own. Remember, don’t go to commentaries first; start by making your own observations.

6) Personal Application

Here is a possible application of 1 Timothy 1:1:

Just like Paul, I need to recognize that I am tasked with being Christ's ambassador, authorized and sent out with a divine message. I can only be effective in my mission if I am aware of my status as a divinely appointed witness.

7) Title and Summarize

After completing this verse-by-verse analysis of the chapter, assign it a title and identify a key verse or verses. This will help solidify the message of the chapter in your mind. Write a summary paragraph outlining the thesis of the chapter. Repeat the process for subsequent chapters. When the book is completed, give it a collective title.

Sadly, mediocrity is a hallmark of our age. Consider breaking that pattern and setting some high goals for your spiritual growth.
For example, you might say that within the next 10 years you will have studied a certain number of the books of the Bible in this manner—spending perhaps three hours a week to study (which is not to be a substitute for your "quiet time"—that is separate).

Motivational writer and speaker Zig Ziglar said, "Aim at nothing and you are sure to hit it." Let’s aim high in our goal to know God and be transformed by His Word. There is nothing greater.

“What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” (Philippians 3:8 NIV).

But first just read His Word, like any other book, but realize it isn't just any other book, for it is active and alive. And you will be moved by it...then the other info I gave could help if you so wanted to use that method.

Welcome and your are in a great place to learn. Always be cautious and never take anyones word for granted. But always filter it through the word of God.

Always read scripture in context which is basically the paragraph or paragraphs it sits in. Not just pluck it out to support a topic.

If you private message anyone i would stick with females or private female groups. You never know people online no matter if its a Christian website.

If private dont matter just start a thread on bible discussion or young adults thread. And people from every congregation and parts of the worl will answer and discuss your topics.

We all have made bad decisions and for all who seek, forgiveness is available. The seeker will find love, forgiveness and hope for the future.

You are in a good place to have seeked out Jesus. Dont give up on the only hope we have for salvation.
