    So my whole life I've worn skirts. No pants. And every time someone would ask me why I would say it was something God spoke to my mom about. But here recently this topic has come up a lot. I've been doin a study and I know the Bible says not to. But I want a Christian guys opinion. Just about every girl in America wears pants so is it really an "issue" or is it something that's nice to see when a girl is wearing a skirt? What's the thoughts on women in pants?

    The real issue from a Biblical perspective is transgenderism. Women wearing women's clothing is not spoken against in the Bible. If any man says we should NOT be wearing leggings or pants or jeans or other clothing items that are specifically made for women, then we should check to make sure they are not being a hypocrite, and that they are properly robed as such:

    From what i can tell, it's only a few sects that actually require women to wear skirts. Most guys don't care one way or the other if a woman wears pants. A woman in a skirt is fine, too. I like both.
    What is perceived as gender of clothes varies from by culture and time. In the 50s it was much less common for women to wear pants. Now no one even thinks about it. In biblical times we always see robes portrayed as the standard. I think it's more important to consider it from the point of view of where you are and what's acceptable, rather than fabricating ideas out of thin air and deciding that is what God meant. The bible does not forbid women in pants. As Magenta said, it forbids cross dressing, and since women in pants is not seen as cross dressing among most then that's your answer.

    It's a matter of personal choice.

    Trousers / pants are more practical and comfortable in my opinion.
    I mostly wear trousers (that's what we call them in the UK).

    If we were limited to clothing of the bible than all men would wear
    robes and dresses as well!

    I posted a thread on a similar topic a while back, but I think most of what was discussed in there still applies. The overall consensus was that clothing, as it pertains to modesty, really comes down to personal preference, because what is considered modest is mostly subjective. There really isn't a "do wear this" and "don't wear that" section in the Bible, and so in regard to your question, is it ok for women to wear pants, I would say yes, as long as YOU want to/are comfortable with it, and do not think it is immodest. Paul writes in Romans 14:13-23 that nothing in and of itself is "unclean" unless one thinks it is unclean. So basically I think what Paul is saying is that you have to decide for yourself. Are you wearing pants that you think are immodest? What is your purpose for wearing pants (i.e. is it sexual in nature)? Those are questions you must ask yourself. If our hearts do not condemn us, as in we are not doing what we do or wearing what we wear out of a sense of lust, sinfulness...etc. then it is acceptable. What one considers modest may be immodest to another, and vice versa. So as I said before, it really comes down to how you feel about it, and what your intentions are, anyone else's opinion shouldn't matter.

    As far as "is it nice to see when a girl is wearing a skirt?", I would say in my personal opinion there is a classic, womanly look to it (a regular skirt mind you, not the short ones a lot of people wear today), but at the end of the day people are free to wear whatever they want, and I couldn't care less what someone decides to wear. Are they nice? Yes. Should they be mandatory? No. You should figure out what you are comfortable with, why you want to wear them, and then make your decision. If your reason for wearing skirts is simply because of societal pressure, than I would caution you to rethink your motives, because as the Bible tells us, we may live in the world, but we are not of the world, and so we should not conform to the world in our actions, dress, manners...etc. simply because of peer pressure.

    Anyway those are just my thoughts, hope this helps in some way.

    I really don't think it matters. I think women look nice in both pants/shorts and skirts/dresses. The big problem I see now is that shorts and skirts are getting shorter and shorter. I cannot look up at certain places because I will see things I'm not supposed to.

    So as long as your conscious about the length of the shorts, I say wear them!

    modest and appropriate for women to wear than pants.
    When a woman wears pants, her shape is outlined
    to the point of practically seeing her naked.
    Especially the pants women are wearing these days.

    There is nothing biblically wrong about a woman wearing pants. This may be something that God spoke to your mom about but perhaps nothing that God spoke to you about.

    this MAY be where she got the idea?
    there are girl pants that are still modest (not skin tight)


    and there are men pants too


    its more about perverting the concept of male and female than wearing pants

    You're not alone, I much prefer dresses and skirts over pants. Unless I have to undertake a painting project or some hefty creative arts, dresses are my code for work and life. It's what our preacher encourages us girls to clothe ourselves in and what I believe is right by the Lord. From this, I wouldn't give the approval from any man the time of day, and neither should you.

    See Exodus 28 and Isaiah 47.
    By that definition, pants are fine on a woman, however when they
    are worn tight, they show a woman's shape as if she were naked.
    Mini skirts, short dresses, and tight fitting pants,
    no matter how much I may like them, are improper.
