Is there a time to stop praying for someone and leave the person in God's hand to work in his or her life? I am not talking about stopping to pray for family especially for salvation. I don't ever want to stop praying for my siblings to know Jesus. It is definitely good to entrust family members to God and we should do that. What I'm talking about is if you have been in a relationship with someone or have been hurt by someone in the past. Or what if it is a former co-worker or someone you have not seen for a while? Who are the people that we continue to pray for and not give up praying for and who are the people we eventually stop praying for? Not that you don't care about them, but you either need to move on and trust them to God or just trust them to God. Do we need to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us?

Generally speaking I mostly pray for people in my life, actively. Maybe from time to time I'll pray for someone in my past, but I find I am typically less interested after they are out.
Now not everyone is the same. Or every relationship. If you are feeling it's being stretched then I would see no problem to stop. We may meet hundreds of people in life, we can't pray for every one.
