I think you should listen to the Holy Spirit. If you feel that twinge, like maybe I shouldn'tplay this game, then don't play it. I play the Left 4 Dead games and I feel that it's ok. But I had to stop playing Nazi Zombies because I'd get really freaked out and almost start cussing.

As long as you realize that its a game and dont go out and actually try to kill zombies and aliens in your neighborhod, then you should be fine

Actually in that case, if you believe that there are zombies out there to hunt then you'd be better to not play that type of game.

Well let's take a look at violence in the Bible.
The violence in the Bible is righteous violence--meaning it was a clear directive given by God to his glory and justice. Such as the slaughtering of the Promised Land natives.

Violence in the Bible that was not righteous was sinful and condemned. Cain murdering Abel for example.

Then there was the violence that was not righteous or directed by God, yet used by God for the "good of those who love him." You can not use this as an excuse to use violence. You can't say "I hate you so much, brother, because you are Dad's favorite, so I am going to sell you into slavery and God will make you the ruler of Egypt. So you will be blessed by the horrible thing I am going to do to you." No... you can't use God's goodness as justification for sin. :)

As for video games... Would you invite Jesus to sit down next to you and blow some heads off? I think by you starting this thread in the first place, in your heart you already know. Are you looking for justification to keep playing? Because you will get that here if that is what you want. Or do you want the truth? Personally I hate the truth when it means I have to make some changes in the way I live, but in the end, right is right.

Be blessed.

I'm not looking for any justification, I am seeking input on the matter, and by that I do mean that I will not be convinced by others, but the word of God be upon me. So are you to say that those defending our country are in sin? Likewise playing a war game means I am in sin?

I probably would, but then again I don't normally play games where I'm blowing people's heads off.

^^Lol, I would too XD Call of Duty and Left 4 Dead would be PWNAGE to play with Jesus. We'd win every time =D

For real, there's no problem with it =/ In a lot of these games, I dont' really see unrighteous violence being glorified anyway. The only games like that that I know are Saint's Row and Grand Theft Auto and stuffs. Call of Duty is war (patriotic, not evil). Left 4 Dead and Resident Evil and stuff is zombies and survival. Bioshock is prolly more dangerous than even Saint's Row and GTA, because honestly the line on righteousness and unrighteousness is grayed (though I'll be honest, I still play it).

Even if all things are permissible for a Christian. The question is not if it is permissible to watch violent stuff, but more less if I have the love of Christ in me; would I glory in something that Christ despises?

The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Psalms 11:5

Lol, how was Assassin's Creed anti-religion? It even comes with a disclaimer at the very beginning, saying- "This game is not meant to encourage or discourage any religion. This game was made by people of many varying religions" or something lol.
The same way that Pinochet would deserve his reputation, even if he'd hung a sign on the outside of the stadium saying "WE AREN'T STICKING ELECTRODES ONTO PEOPLE'S PRIVATES". Sometimes denying something isn't enough to make it untrue.

funny thing, this came up for me recently too... i'm okay with CODMWF2, Left for Dead I had to stop... I started to get nightmares and that was my sign to stop... and I used to play World of Warcraft, that one was my main problem, I was planning to quit for awhile, but about a month went by and my pastor had brought up the game pointing out all the santanic influences there are in the game... the druids with their magic, the warlocks also with their magic, not to mention their minions (which always creeped me out a little 'cause of how demonic they look and sound,) but trolls and undead and all the other just devil pointing creatures and actions, and i realezed why i had been bothered with it ever since i started playing... i cancelled my account the next day.

anyway, i know WOW isn't really a violent game... but like violent games it tends to take up time... but even when i gave up WOW, i noticed my play time on MWF2 went down a lot, and i became a lot more calm when playing too, i wasn't freaking out everytime i got kniffed or something annoying like that...

it's a personal spiritual thing, if you feel that the video games and movies are taking you away from God more than they should be... you should probably quit, or figure out the ones that make act like a psyco and put them away...

Many blessings,
