Matthew 19:16
Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Matthew 6:26: Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather grain into barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are not you worth much more than they?

What are you going to do when you leave high school or college? Is that drive to make money going to kick in. I think our country needs a major overhall. We are working to obtain money to buy and buy when God will provide. What do you think? Is our monetary system in accordance with God's laws or does it just promote selfishness and materialism?

It's the love of money that's the root of all evil.......the Apostle Paul was a tent maker by trade.....and earned his keep so as not to burden new churches......I've always felt working is important.....1. So I'm not a burden to others and 2. So that I have money to help those really in need.......Gospel for Asia is an example of where part of my income goes....

Matthew 6:24--No man can serve to masters; for he will either love one and hate the other; or else he will hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Mammon-avarice and worldly gain personified as a false god in the New Testament
or
Material wealth regarded as having an evil influence.

Yes, it is important to do one's share within the community, but how many things do you own that are luxuries instead of necessities (I'm guilty too). But more than that, I'm trying to question the society we have built where constant consumerism and materialism are the preferrable norm.

Yea Western societies in particular are guilty of this..........A western missionary visited a poor village in India, saw the poverty stricken people that made up the little congregation he was ministering to.......afterwards the missionary said to the Pastor......'I will tell the churches back home about you and have them pray that your poverty will be eased...'

The Indian Pastor replied, 'We have all we need......our prayer is for your country. It saddens us that you have too many things that can distract you from God.'

True story......never forgot that...

So we are the ones who will in a decade or two be running this country. How are we going to change this establishment that distances us from the creator?
