No matter what we tell you are going to make your own mind up. I would do some research and find out as much as possible about that holiday and pray about it. God lives inside of us and if we really want truth God will show you the answers but you got to seek him.

I suppose it's how you "celebrate" it.

"Historian Nicholas Rogers, exploring the origins of Halloween, notes that while "some folklorists have detected its origins in the Roman feast of Pomona, the goddess of fruits and seeds, or in the festival of the dead called Parentalia, it is more typically linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain, whose original spelling was Samuin (pronounced sow-an or sow-in)". The name of the festival historically kept by the Gaels and celts in the British Isles which is derived from Old Irish and means roughly "summer's end"."

Samhain: The medieval Irish festival of Samhain marked the end of the harvest, the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the "darker half". It was celebrated over the course of several days and had some elements of a Festival of the Dead. Bonfires played a large part in the festivities. People and their livestock would often walk between two bonfires as a cleansing ritual, and the bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into its flames.

Halloween was originally a holy holiday, celebrated by Catholics. It was originally called All Hallows Eve and celebrated all known or unknown saints. I can see why people think it's a demonic holiday, but originally, it was a holy occasion.

Not one of you has offered any real evidence to whether Halloween is good or bad.
OP, read this: Halloween - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you're too lazy, basically it says the name Halloween means "summer's end". For a long time it was celebrated as All Hallow's Eve, a mass-day for all saints.
Trick-or-treating originated from "souling" where poor people would dress up and go door-to-door begging for food.

It's not evil at all. Do research and think for yourself.

1. Wikipaedia is an online ecylopaedia that can be edited by anyone.
2. While the information is true, it is only 1/8 of the truth

But I am not going to fight with any Christian who wants to celebrate it...

Attitude! And from someone who didn't bother to check my posting, which was taken FROM WIKIPEDIA! *facepalm*

This is not entirely true, but rather a misnomer. Wikipedia is not the open source encyclopedia people assume it is. Your suggestions, edits, sources, etc. are filtered and scrutinized by administrators before they're made public. It's not like you can go to their page on McDonalds and change it to say it was founded by Rob Zombie.

I think of it this way - Life is short, its as short as a breath and we don't know when our last day is. Eternity is forever, one day we will be held accountable for our actions, and that is for the people who are saved recieved Jesus Christ in their hearts and confessed him with the Holy Spirit. The ones who aren't saved have not opened their eyes yet but are still without hope they will also face judgement...only they will not have the hope that they denied. I believe those demonic things that are celebrated during Halloween arise from the world and are made to look friendly, alluring, and well made to make people feel like they are apart of something are a deception, all of those things are real in this world, They exist. but they will not bring any peace infact, fear will come and so will the feeling of being out of control they slowly destroy those they take in. Gods love comes without strings and without control. He only requires us to choose to obey him and his word freely. He will reward you for your obedience. Trust in him.

I agree with that.

And if you think it's harmless, is it helpful? Time is short in the walk of our real life, and have we got time for useless twaddle?

Absolutely! I'll begin doing so just as soon as I figure out how to twaddle.

My mother always rants every Halloween that it's a demonic holiday and that it's the devil's birthday and that it's against christianity.
But is it true? Honestly, I don't think it's Satan's birthday but I could be wrong. I just don't know. I'm going this year but I feel sorta guilty, like I'm doing a bad thing by celebrating this holiday. Halloween is my favorite holiday; I'm like a little kid on christmas when halloween comes. Not to mention, I'm gothic so that's the only time when I can shop for items I like for my room.
But now that I'm older, I'm really thinking about what my mother said...Is Halloween an evil holiday?
The devil was originally an angel who existed before calendar time existed. The calendar is based on the planets and the stars, which didn't exist when the devil already existed. The devil has no birthday, boo hoo for him. Halloween is in fact originally a pagan tradition, celebrating the harvest and thanking the pagan deities. It is Thanksgiving Day for pagans. But look at WHEN Christians adopted it as a Christian holiday for a clue at WHY Christians adopted it. It was an embarrassing time to be a Christian, there were fanatics on horseback, wearing swords, converting pagans to Christianity at sword point, CONVERT OR DIE, and then riding through the same area during the next pagan holiday, killing any "false converts" who were celebrating. Most Christians understood that if it is a sin to convert falsely at sword point, it is the one holding the sword, who is sinning. Self-defense is not a sin! How does an unarmed congregation of true Christians, fight this atrocity being committed by armed men? Everyone celebrates during the pagan holiday! They can't get their masters' permission to kill everyone, their masters would get no taxes! So a Christian Holiday, All Saints Day, was created to spread the word, Everyone must celebrate! And the celebration, All Hallows Eve, was on the same day, mimicking the same behaviors, as the pagan holiday. Christmas already happened to be on the pagan winter holiday, coincidentally, Easter already happened to be on the spring pagan holiday, (which was not a coincidence, look closely at the story of Queen Esther,), the fanatics couldn't ride far during summer solstice, the weather was too hot for the horses, and the fanatics were a good deal less fanatical on foot. It was the harvest pagan holiday, which needed this protection from the fanatics. Halloween is no longer needed for anyone's protection, but what a great time to celebrate compassion and true faith winning out over fanaticism, we should be reaching out to Muslims to celebrate Halloween with us instead of stamping out Halloween.

Yes Halloween(Helloween) is a very demonic holiday, and no Christian should celebrate it or have their kids celebrate it. It doesnt take much discernment as a Christian to tell Halloween is demonic, just look what people hang on their lawns and houses, witches, dark entities, things that represent death. Parents who have their children celebrate this holiday are just having their children become cursed, and open doors to the enemy. And the Bible also says not to conform to the patterns of this world.
