You make it sound like she should get marry just to get rid of the urge. I think it's a great idea for someone in her position but she may not like it.

I don't really know what to tell you. Seems like all these males are trying to help with a woman's problem. Not trying to sound discouraging or anything. But, I think you should seek advice from another Christ loving woman for this type of thing.

Repent means TURN AWAY from it. I think it's disgusting to just give in to things you know are wrong and just use confessing and repentance as a way to cover your guilt. It means NOTHING to God if you keep doing it. I think it's pathetic when Christians know somethings wrong and just keep doing it while whining 'oooh its too hard, idk what to do.' Yes you do. Grow a backbone. There's a difference between having the problem and actively searching for advice and being serious about repenting like I believe the OP is, and just being a spiritual coward.
/rant Everyone has a struggle with this, but the thing is just not doing it. When the urge comes up think of something else. Go do something else. You don't HAVE to do it. Your in control of your actions. It's also important to make sure not to make provision for the flesh like the word says. If certain T.V. shows tempt you, books, situations in your life etc. Then cut them out. It's called spiritual war for a reason. Your gonna have to have some self-control through Gods grace so pray and fight the war! Don't be quick to tap out when temptation comes. The more you fight the urge and not give in the easier and easier it'll be to not even care about fulfilling the lust of your flesh. Last edited by SpaceCowboy; February 9th, 2012 at 04:37 PM. |

Well, I would have two pieces of advice, tips if you will. 1) Turn from it at the onset. Distract yourself. Call a friend--not a friend of the opposite sex that you are attracted to, or not even one that you will discuss the temptation at hand with (though that's also a suggestion). However, just turning from it and chatting with someone about the weather will help. 2) Think about it logically. Remember what it feels like when you do screw up. Remember the guilt. Remember that it doesn't do what you think it will.
We are not tempted by anything except for what is common to man (or woman). You aren't alone. Confess it to a trusted friend or mentor. Confession allows truth to come in. |

You don't need to be thinking of someone to masturbate, also lusting in general is not shown to be a sin. It is only a sin if it's in extreme excess or if you are married and you are lusting for someone that isn't your spouse.

I know, I'm asking you to prove it. I said "significant other" as in boyfriend or girlfriend, not spouse. Prove that simple lust is a sin, and then prove that it's only ok to lust after your spouse.
