"Faith is like a muscle. If you don't challenge it, it will grow weak."

Let's challenge each others believes and strengthen our faith in god!

I will start:
Is the earth really just ~6000 years old like te bible says, or is that just metaphorical?

The Bible doesn't actually say how old the Earth is, that's just something that scholars have attempted to deduce from genealogies and such.

Which ignores the fact that these genealogies include legendary figures like Adam and Noah and thus probably weren't meant to be taken literally.

The earth isn't 4.5 billion years old. Radiometric dating is nothing but a senseless theory. Scientists need "answers" for everything, and they will give them even if they are wrong answers. Newtonian physics has been recently proven wrong (but "close" enough to be taught in schools) due to special relativity. Why would geologists claim that they are wrong when they don't have to? They want to keep their job. Basically scientists make assumptions, and you should know what happens when you assume.

Btw, faith is not like a muscle. Since when does faith require amino acids to form the proteins actin and myosin type 2 to grow? Where do you get these 3rd grade analogies?

Man you are totally right. How could I forget that faith doesn't need adenosin tri-phosphates to work. Now the analogy makes no sense at all. Thank you very much for showing me this. In germany we call people like you "klugscheisser". Look it up.

So how old is earth according to you?

Is there any way to know exactly how old the earth is??????

The bible give a good description of world history and from that you can conclude that the earth is indeed about 6000 years old.
And if Adam and Noah weren't historical figures, I have no idea why I should take the rest of the bible serious.

Actually it's the calcium ion released from the nerve's terminal buttons that allows for the muscle to work. ATP is simply used in the power stroke of the sarcomere. Don't worry, your analogy didn't make sense to begin with. You're welcome, always happy to point out other people's mistakes. In America, we call people like you a 'tool'. Look it up, brah.

Well, ever thought about the possibility that it might just be a parable are that not the facts count but the content?

When you look up at night, what do you see? Yeah, you see stars. If the earth would be only 6000 years old, we would only see stars in a distance of 6000 lightyears, because otherwise the light wouldn't have reached earth. Hubble telescope made a picture of a star 3 BILLION lightyears away. Explain that. And don't come with "god beamed the photons nearer to earth so we can see something when we look up at night".

And Zen... did I do something to you? What is your problem?

well, when they started emitting their light they were closer than they are now (everything is getting further and further apart right?) so those numbers can vary. (the light can come from when it was closer).

Also the (orginal) big bang theory says 'something* turned into everything really really fast, - perhaps in an instant. - if it did, it was perhaps faster than the speed of light. (Us not beeing abe to exceed it doesn't mean nature couldn't in the start of everything).

If earth is so old: why is the moon still with us? (is is moving away one cm or something like that per year). So, acoording to the eart-is-millons-of-years-old-theory it should have been gone by now,

Also, much of the radiation and magnetic fields seem to be much stronger than they should be if earth is really that old. (as they too diminsh over time).

All of the science used to ''prove'' an old earth falls apart under scrutiny. And no one taught an old earth til the 1700's when humanists were looking for a way to discredit the Bible with geology. It's all baloney.

Makes no sense. If the light would come from when they were closer, they would also APPEAR closer. When we see are star that is 3 Billion lightyears away, we see the star as it was 3 billion years ago. Most of those stars don't even exist anymore. It is just their light that we see. Sort of a picture from the past.

And to the moon issue. The moon is right now 38.440.300.000 centimeters away from the earth (384403 km). That's 38 billion centimeters. If he once started with 33,5 billion centimeters destance and it gets further away every year by 1 cm... here you go, 4,5 billion years.

Thanks, but I already laughed about this Dr. Dino stuff a couple of years ago. And a person who thinks that the dinosaurs were extinct because Noah had no place for them on his arc isn't my definition of "intelligent". I just don't get why you people don't understand that the bible isn't to be taken literally. I know one person who didn't take it literally. He was called Jesus. Maybe you have heard of him.
Really, christianity should split. On the one hand people who just want to live in the light of god, do good things, make the world a better place. And on the other hand people who try to protect their old views of the world from modern science. Just because details of the bible are incorrect, doesn't mean the content is invalid. If I write my girlfried a letter which says that I would catch a star for her just to see her smile, I am not saying the truth. Of cause I can't catch a star. Noone can. But does that make the content of the letter invalid and me a liar? I certainly hope not.

Who said dinosaurs were extinct because Noah had no room for them on the ark? They were on the ark and never went extinct :). The Bible is accurate, it's history is accurate, and it is scientifically consistent. It's science that hasn't caught up the the Bible, not vice versa.

So the bible is 100% accurate? Okay, then I have something for you. You can check the scriptures, they are correct.

Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:
When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.
Your devoted fan,
Jim

I laugh because you are ignorant of Biblical interpretation and dispensationalism.
