How do you know if you are hearing God? Is it a clear voice like someone is talking right beside you? Is it a voice in your head? Can anyone tell me?

Hey Ministada, how are you?
"How do you know if you are hearing God?". You know it by being close to him, you can be a friend of God. Read the bible, pray, have a good relationship with people that have known God, he is alsways with you so that you can talk to him eveytimes.
I think it is like a voice in our head, sometimes we call it conscience. But, think of this; God wants you to be closed to him, so you will think like he thinks; you will do what he would do; you will see the way he sees; you will love the way he loves; and you will think like he thinks. That's wonderful, so we can recognize his voice talking to us as we know him more and more.
I hope that it helped you, and i'm also so interested in other aswers.
God Bless you.

I agree with Lucas, the closer you are to God, and the more you pray, the easier it gets.

The times when I seem to have been guided by God, I have usually followed what others would call intuition... I personally never have a really strong feeling that "wow, this IS from God", it'smore like "umh.. yea, that feels risgght" and then I'll ...hopefully... do it. But I know many have a very different way of feeling/ noticing God's voice.

To get to know the Lord better, first, you need to be saved. it is integral. the Bible says "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." ~I Corinthians 2:14. Then, ask the Lord to reveal himself to you. His Holy Spirit will, but only if you are sincere. James 1:5-6 says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." According to the Bible, it is the Holy Spirit's job to lead us into all truth. "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth..." ~John 16:13. Then start reading your Bible. That is God's voice. It is his complete, revealed word on earth, and our sanctification: Jesus himself asked the Father in John 17:17, as he was praying on our behalf, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." And remember: God's word is so true, he need only speak it, and it is as good as done. Our heart is not so. Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" But the word of God can change our vile hearts, as Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing assunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Consider Luke 6:46-49: Jesus said, "And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like. He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great."

Hearing from God like the others have said is much like your conscience. While God's voice may not be audioable, it does move your heart and motivate you. Distinguishing God's voice does require you to know what is right and wrong. Remember God is never going to tell you to do something that is wrong. God's words will go in accordance to the Bible and that is why it is signficant to study not just simply read His word. Whenever you act upon what God is telling you to do, you will find peace and grace that goes along with it. However, if it is not God's voice then you may find yourself doing something that is impossible and has no peace with it.

As the others have said, it's a voice within your head. Sometimes you think it's your own thoughts. eg if you have the thought, "I should pray now". That is actually God telling you to pray.

On occasions, it may sound like another voice inside your head, that is distinct from your own thoughts.
But, satan talks like this way as well. So you need to discern the voices by knowing what the bible says.
