one of the things i hear is that to get into heaven you have to be a christian truly believe and ask for forgiveness of all your sins according to some people you commit sins everyday so your always asking forgiveness for those sins which got me thinking lets say before you go to bed every night you pray to god and ask for forgiveness of the sins you commited that day so each day you wake up your sinless so if you commited a sin during a day and then say died suddenly from a car accident would you go to hell because you didn't ask god to forgive you for that sin before you died?

now before you say depends on the sin another user on here pointed out that in god eyes sin is sin no matter what it was so base it on that agenda

Think of it as a parent having children. When we become adopted into Gods family, He becomes our Father. Just like any father, He knows that, we as children, are going to screw up. We're going to steal cookies, break lamps, break bones(!), talk back, break rules, and have general disobedience growing up. Same with God, He knows we'll screw up. But as the father who 'forgives' his children even before they do anything wrong, because dad knows ahead of time that kids won't always listen, so God knows we will sin. The key is not seeking forgiveness for every mistake to be forgiven, but to live with a heart that desires to do right. Its not always about the 'action' but it can often be about the heart and intent behind the action.

it's not enough to only ask for forgiveness you need to repent and turn away from the sin.

Really good question, some Christians I have met, and myself included used to live as if I didn't ask for forgiveness every minute I'd go to hell. But salvation is based on the perfect sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf.............if our continued salvation security was based alone on our ability to repent and ask for forgiveness to reach God's standards of perfection, we wouldn't stand a chance.

Sin's of doing what's wrong, not doing what's right, fear, doubt, lust, agggggh, I could go on but I won't..... Thank GOD for Jesus! :)
