Hi everyone! I'm going to be a freshmen in college this fall and the school I am going to is known for being a party school. I have never been one to go to parties but I am pressured very easily. I love God with all my heart and am praying that he will give me the strength to fight against temptation! I know there are many Christian related groups in colleges but I also know that Jesus said to reach out to the people that don't know Christ. In order to do this, how do I become friends with non-Christians and not expect to get pressured by them to go to parties and drink and to have sex? I am really worried that I will fall from Christ during my years in college and I am very nervous about it. I am praying that God gives me the insight and understanding needed to refrain from worldly desires but I know it will still be hard! Please let me know if you have previous experiences with this or any advice!!

Hi Grace!

I'm going to be a freshman in college this year also. I'm also worried about the temptations that college may offer, but I also know that what God can offer us is much, much greater! :) I'll share some of my own plans and some advice that I've been given.

1. Get involved in a campus ministry, if you can find one. If there isn't one... Start one!! :)
2. Get INVOLVED in general. Join Christian clubs, get a job, find a circle of friends, join a gym, whatever you're interested in.
3. Avoid temptation when you can. Walk the long way around campus to avoid a party. Avoid people who are associated with the "wrong" crowd, if you think you'll be tempted.
4. Make a promise to God, and pray for Him to help you keep it.
5. Wear something simple, like a ring or a bracelet to remind you of the promise! :)
6. When you are being tempted, remove yourself from the situation immediately and go find something fun to do. :)

College is going to give us so many opportunities, just FOCUS on the positive ones. Also, know that you're not the only one facing these temptations. :)

I hope this helps!

Or the alternative to college.. Master's Commission. lol I feel an obligation to tell every college-age person about it since most likely, like me, they had never heard about it before.
Many go to Master's for a year before they go off to college. Helps them get a stronger basis with God before they're faced with all that stuff. Plus it's AWESOME!! I put more info on my last post. Check it out please! :D
Bout time I go pray and get to bed. Much love!
