There is a "peace that surpasses all understanding" that one can only have when they are in the perfect will of God in Christ.
THAT peace comes with a price tag. If you are a genuine born-again Christian, you will be attacked by the devil for we are still in an age of spiritual warfare and will continue in this state until Christ's return or our mortal death.
When I query people like this I usually find the reason they didn't have spiritual peace in the midst of the spiritual warfare was because they were engaged in the usual carnal sin of drugs/alcohol/sexual immorality and were under God's conviction as He works to make us like Christ.
I wouldn't pay money for the peace they found by taking themselves out of the spiritual war between the forces of good and the forces of evil so they could enjoy their life of sin more fully.
And what they sacrificed was the only peace that matters for eternity, the "peace that surpasses all understanding" that only comes from being in Christ and in God's will.
This is a message they may well not want to hear; however. But it is also a message that they can accept if they choose because God certainly and very much wants them back in His will.
