I went to the dentist recently and I got no cavities, but I have a wisdom tooth growing crookedly underneath my gums and I am going to have it cut out pretty soon by a dental surgeon before it gets infected.

That would probably be a good idea, I hear they can cause pain later on in life. Unless, you like pain then just leave them :p

Great thing to do, I had all 4 of mine cut out at once. They grew in the same as yours, instead of up and down like normal, they grew sideways and no one knows why. They will eventually become very painful and all, so get it treated as soon as you can. It really doesn't hurt either, they'll put you to sleep and all. Then they give you a prescription for pain meds, you'll need them. As long as you take those when needed, you'll be fine, but you'll be knocked out for a while too. Pray before you go in, and whomever goes along to drive you home, as you won't be able to do so, have them pray while you're in the surgery. You'll be fine, you'll be in God's hands. God bless!

two of mine were growing out, two were growing somewhat UNDER my back molars. lol i got them out.
i chose the knock-out method of surgery. much more pleasant for everyone. but you most likely won't remember anything until you're home and come back to... i thought i was asleep from the chair to the bed. but actually i seemed fully awake at some moments. i just don't remember it. i tried to stand out of the wheelchair and help myself into the car. lol my bro-in-law asked for potato chips and a BIG kiss from his wife. does he remember it? no. lol

it was through this surgery i found out i was allergic to codine. it's in the pain med loritab. i've had it before, but my body built a reaction to it. if you feel itchy inside and out.. stop taking it. and PRAY you don't feel like death from coming off of it. i've never done drugs... but people told me what i felt was similar to coming off of cocaine.

if you have a conviction against alcohol like i do, tell them before they make the prescription. the stuff they most likely will give you is called chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse, which is 11.6% alcohol. you have to use it twice a day for a year... or until you use up 3 whole bottles. feels like about 16 oz. and unlike regular mouth washes, this one can cause tooth discoloration, and premanent discoloration for fillings. plus... it tastes like medicine. which i hate. bleh!

what they told me instead - use your regular mouth wash twice a day. lol many more benefits that way.

^just some tips they forgot to tell me before my procedure. hope they help!

I had to have some of mine removed as well, they were growing in at a weird angle and pushing on my other teeth.. The dentist always told me you have to get them removed soon and i refused cause i thought it would hurt, i shoulda listned cause when my wisdom teeth started pushin on my other ones it was severe pain... the dentist said you must be able to handle pain well because this is one of the worst cases ive ever seen.... ... so i told them to just numb my mouth with some shots and take it out.... and they did so now its much much much better! I was never put to sleep or anything, it was very simple and very easy... and you know what it didnt hurt. I mean of course after wards it was sore, but really thats it.
