Meditation isn't a standard christian practise, maybe you should try praying for guidance instead.

Please clarify the grammar. sleeped? sleep? slept? What were you meditating on? How do you know it is God speaking? See Matt 8:20 and Gen 28:11.

Those two Scripture are what I think God wants me to give you. Take then in the order I gave them. [Had you said sleep, I would have reversed the order.] Study out the surrounding verses in the Genesis passage, and how it impacted Jacob's life and ultimately the statement that God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Isaac, traditions say, had inborn wisdom. But Jacob took a job to get his lover.

I have to agree with Luke on this one.
There are so many forms of meditation out there you have to be very careful how you are meditating.
I have looked into a Kabbalah group. A so called ancient Jewish group.
The group I looked into were big on meditation and their teachings were straight out of hell. They insisted that each one of their members have a number so they can be counted...etc.

Meditation can also mean thinking about your life in the light of God's Word and your relationship to Him. I guess Dave can choose to specify what he was doing, or not, as he decides.

What you said dave reminds me of Jacob's dream...

Genesis 28: 10-22
10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Harran. 11When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. 12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 There above it stood the Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring 15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

16 When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” 17 He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”
18 Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it. 19 He called that place Bethelthough the city used to be called Luz.

20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear 21 so that I return safely to my father’s household, then the Lord will be my God 22 then this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.”

Beth-El means house of the Lord btw

Yes, I wouldn't decide to meditate and have my mind open to just anything. This subject has me feeling very, very cautious.
Thinking and Meditating are two completely different things.

The enemy has counterfeited the genuine meditation, don't let that put you off it as a Christian practise.

Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."

The word meditate in Hebrew is hagah, the meaning from blue letter Bible.com is:

1) to moan, growl, utter, muse, mutter, meditate, devise, plot, speak
a) (Qal)
1) to roar, growl, groan
2) to utter, speak
3) to meditate, devise, muse, imagine
b) (Poal) to utter
c) (Hiphil) to mutter

So by all means, speak Scripture over and over, meditate and ask the Holy Spirit to give you revelation as you do.

Four verses later, Jesus sleeps. Read that section, and ask how Jesus fulfilled what you heard. Then compare how Jacob fulfilled what you heard. Finally, ask how you are to fulfill it.

This seems much like the contemplative prayer and eastern mysticism infiltrating the Charismatic and emergent church movements on a large scale. What brings great issue is the attempts to decipher such a cryptic message supposedly from God and make it fit into the scriptures when there is nothing to go off but speculation. This is what scares me about many Charismatic circles many things go unchecked and we get many prophetic words and force them into being biblical when truly they are vague and likely either delusions, false messages, or demonic. I love my brothers and sisters in Christ in Charismatic churches(i do believe there are some genuinely born again believers) but a lot of things go unchecked. That is why Todd Bentley grew in popularity for years before he was finally exposed.

Of course, in this case, your very post is checking it. I see no reason to question whether Dave's "message" is from God. If it is not, it will go nowhere. It's in common use in society anyway, as it is kind of like "follow your dreams". My response to him is the outline of a sermon which could be called "a place to sleep". If it is of God, it amounts to being told that the time for Dave to follow his dreams is now. That's the kind of thing God would say.

The opposite pole of your observation (which is quite correct and timely) is that if we allow ourselves to be deterred by the extremes, we may miss a certainty God wishes to give us about when we are to take a certain specific call as applying to ourselves.

I have nothing against Christian Meditation. I am concerned with folks that just open their mind to anything and see what happens. What a devils play ground. I am not big on dreams either.

Satan comes as an angel of light. Feeling 'easy going, peaceful and comforting' does not mean it must be God. Many people of other religions claim the same feelings. The bible says we are to hold all things to the light of Scripture, not to the message of modern prophets, or 'good feelings'. Especially when dealing with a questionable practice such as meditation.
