Hey I have a thought for everyone.
Is Christian Rock and Roll, Hip Hip, Rap, R&B ect. All the genres that we have taken from the world of music and Christianize are they God honoring?
Should we only listen to old church hymns that we hear at our Grandmas church that we had to go to from time to time?
What do you think?

[...] Rock is just a music style and you can express whatever you want through any kind of music. I think God created the whole world and all that is required to make music. People then use their God given creativity and talents and skills to make music.

And only because some play music loud or soft or fast or slow or dissonant or consonant or happy or melancholic doesn't make music evil or good, I guess. Its the attitude, the hearts of people who make music, that matters. And that ultimately results in lyrics.

And then you can come and say, you don't want to listen to this or that PERSONS music or that music GROUP because their HEARTS are not right and/or you don't like the lyrics. Or you simply don't like the style of music, okay. But I am of the opinion that you can't say the MUSIC is evil. And Music is, roughly said, vibrating air. And I don't think vibrating air can be evil.

[...]

THe style "Gospel music" originated partly from some african music where spirits where worshipped and stuff.

But you can express yourself thorugh music, no matter what style. And I already talked about my opinion of music being neutral.
That is my opinion...

And it is beyond me how you can "christianize" a music style.

of course God can be honoured by other types of music, we are told to praise him with sounding gongs and clashing cymbals!
..as I have neither, I'll settle for rock/ metal :p

- of course, not all "christian metal" is christian, so one needs to be aware of what one listens to. But for me the same thing goes for classical worship music.

and a thought: If I sing a worship song, but I don't feel what I'm singing at that moment...(ie saying I'll change my ways or something of the sort, while I know I won't be doing that anytime soon (stubborn me...). Will that be a lie? or will it be a expression of my desire to be able to do that?

Well, I can have that too. But let us also know that worshipping God doesn't always depends nor are always based on how we feel. We can go to church, and feeling miserable about life or sad whilst singing to the Lord, but still, He sees our hearts, and knows our thoughts. And well, I also beleive we can desire deep inside of to be changing our ways, although we aren't completely ready yet with doing that. God knows when we are ready, and as long as we want to worship Him, whether we feel like it or not, He is always pleased about it.

I also agree with that quote MdNordlicht put up over there too.
All types of music can be God Honouring depending on our hearts when making it!

God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone
Do you know what you want? you dont know for sure
You dont feel right, you cant find a cure
And youre gettin less than what youre lookin for

You dont have money or a fancy car
And youre tired of wishin on a falling star
You gotta put your faith in a loud guitar

Chorus:
God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone (oh yeah)
God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone

Now listen
If you wanna be a singer, or play guitar
Man, you gotta sweat or you wont get far
Cause its never too late to work nine-to-five

You can take a stand, or you can compromise
You can work real hard or just fantasize
But you dont start livin till you realize - I gotta tell ya!

God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone
God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul

(instrumental break)

God gave rock and roll to you (to everyone he gave the song to be sung)
Gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to everyone

God gave rock and roll to you (to everyone he gave the song to be sung)
Gave rock and roll to you, saved rock and roll for everyone
Saved rock and roll

Chorus repeats out...

I know life sometimes can get tough! and I know life sometimes can be a drag!
But people, we have been given a gift, we have been given a road
And that roads name is... rock and roll!

It's just a silly song, tongue firmly stuck out at the people who say rock and roll is of the devil.

hehe, yeah.

I like Vaakevandrings version of Fadervår (Lord's prayer) in "black" metal. - Same lyrics, just really heavy and sluggish.

So this is found in Densetzu chapter 5 starting at verse 7 to the end of the chapter? :D

The book of Densetzu is full of inane ramblings, actually. I wrote it as a portfolio peice to get published in a political journal that has recently fallen into ill repute.

What supposed to be changed here?
So is it okay if I put a song with Christian values and meanings sung by an anti-Christian group?

Well if the song has Christian values and meanings then can you really call the group Anti-Christian? Even Jesus said to his Disciples,
From Mark 9:
38"Teacher," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us." 39"Do not stop him," Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40for whoever is not against us is for us.
