Pretend that you were given the power to rescue one out of the three people listed below from hell. They were all generally good people (by human standards) but there only sin were the following

  1. A young girl who had a child outside of marriage
  2. A man who was in a homosexual relationship
  3. An atheist who simply didn’t believe in God

Which person would you chose and why?

This a hypothetical question people so please don’t say things like “that would never happen” BE CREATIVE!

I would rescue the young girl who had a child outside of marriage - because she then has the direct opportuity of leading her child to Christ, who may go onto have a family of her own who could lead her own family to Christ......and any one of which might lead the atheist to Christ and the homosexual!!! is that cheating!!

But there again there would be a big big, plus to leading a homosexual to christ, who might then be able to communicate with the gay community and start their own ministry in that area.

But ....if a devout athiest who was so against God and become a Christian, what a testimony they would have. I have often wondered what would happen if Steven Hawkins become a Christian - just imagine that.

Sorry I picked all three is that cheating!!!

PS If God had given me the opportunity to lead all three people to Christ I would be besides myself with Joy.

I'd ask God which one I should pick. Since I don't know their hearts and I don't believe those things you listed define an entire reason for going to hell on their own in every case.

I Think I'd pick the atheist. Cause with someone is Atheist ALL their friends and family know. So for them to come back preaching the Gospel as if their life depended on it. It would make the biggest impact for the kingdom of God. . . .at least thats how I feel. Good stories make people courious. and I feel like their story would be the "best".

The first two questions are the typical behavior in the churches today, and the third question is most who reject God and His truth, who do not want to face reality.

They all need real repentance and faith as preached all through the book of Acts, anything short of this and they are on their way to eternal destruction!

Act 3:19 Therefore repent and convert so that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

Act 26:18 in order to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan to God, so that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.

Lam 3:40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

Act 26:20 But to those first in Damascus, and Jerusalem, and to all the country of Judea, and to the nations, I made known the command to repent and to turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance

2Ti 2:25 in meekness instructing those who oppose, if perhaps God will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth,
2Ti 2:26 and that they awake out of the snare of the Devil, having been taken captive by him, so as to do the will of that one.

Sadly, in this day and age, a lot of people would just think they are crazy. I know a lot of people around me, who know I used to be an atheist of sorts (I looked at all religions before coming to the truth) and they think I've gone off the deep end :/

I would save the homosexual because people believe that Christians are just bigots and that we think that sin is worse than all the others. Now of course we now all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

By rescue from hell, I assume you mean bring to Christ before death as opposed to literally transporting from hell to heaven postmortem? It seems odd to choose a person based on the sin that they commit-- this is a lot harder to answer than I thought it would be when I read the question. I would probably choose the atheist, for very selfish reasons-- a lot of my friends are atheists.

I have realised since I last looked at this post that perhaps it is not our place to decide? After all only God knows a person hearts and whether they truly have trusted in the saving blood of Jesus. We not saved by anything other.

You said " rescue one out of the three people listed below from hell" and because I don't believe such hell as in western entertainment for example (fire and all) exists in our lifetime, I understand that these people were not saved when they died. (other way they wouldn't be said to be in hell)

Now you said 3 was atheist but having a child or homosexual the only reason to be unsaved sounds that someone's not telling whole truth. sex outside marriage or homosexuality are sin but sentencing people to hell because of those is something we humans should avoid. Only God really can do such and taking this into account and if he have that means all 3 people are to treated equally = all are same as n.o 3.
Now which one I would bring back. I would choose the girl, because she had child. Because all of them have equal chance to repent but only the girl have someone else to lead also to God.

I don't think there's any way to choose between them, they all have equal rights to that escape from hell ticket. I'd ask the two men if it was okay if I saved the girl instead of them, if they would be heroes for the little girl. If they didn't approve, I might have to just flip a coin! (a 3 sided coin?)
