That's what I am, it seems. Christianity has the stink of humanity all over it. The institution that we call Christianity is very difficult to defend morally and intellectually, especially if you know anything about church history. Like I said in another thread, I would surely be a misanthropist and a nihilist were it not for the love of God in my heart. That love causes me to love my fellow man. I will always defend the Christian faith, the Kingdom values, but not the carnal religious attitudes of the present and the past.

*sigh*

I don't know that much on a religious basis. As I have said 1,000 times i'm new to Christianity and therefore have no understanding or knowledgeable word in it. But, I would like to reply :p

As Christians we are put under a magnified glass whether consciously or unconsciously by other people. Being Gods people we are expected to be above human. So if you see an atheist help 5 old ladies across the street with one arm then you expect the lowest and most evil christian to help 10 old ladies with his pinky finger. (metaphor)

What I am getting at is there is evil in everything no matter how good, pure, holy, and righteous its intentions. Every group on this earth will have someone who just wants to exploit the system. I.E. a pastor who steals tide to buy a nicer car. See when a employee at your local grocery store steals money from the cash register its not publicly advertised. If there is a molestation case in your town it usually doesn't leave your town unless its extremely bad then it might go state wide. But religious matters are multiplied 10x folded because we are expected to be Godly people. So when we don't act according to our own values or societies values it is blown out of proportion to show us and them. We are not Godly and they to try to disprove our religious beliefs. And whats funny is the exact opposite side of the stick happens too.

Now do not quote me on this research it please because my knowledge on this subject too is limited but has been recently brought to my attention. In India In this decade Christians are being killed for being Christian. In Nigeria and in multiple other countries this happens. (keeping it small due to my knowledge on such)

In medieval times one of religious matters was to bring peace and unify people. W/out religious power in state, we wouldn't have the multitude of countries in Europe. The vastly spread christian religion. And the first religion from the old world to hit the new would not have been christian. Maybe changing the way North America and South America are today. But this is all hypothetical...

My point being. Every glass is half-full. Every glass is half-empty. Which way you look at it doesn't matter. Because the other way is always the correct way to look at it.

Not trying to be mean. And if you do have a retort please understand I am more then willing to debate. But never fight :p.

My retort is gratitude, because you have consoled me! :)

I don't think there is anything to debate here.

I don't feel a need to defend my Christianity to anyone. So therefore i don't feel any regret about the past history of the religion.
And of course it has the stinky of humanity all over it. Its a religion where the God calls the sickest, and most evil people to Him to love and save. Christianity would be another void religion without humanities stink on it. I'm part of that stink. So are you. Its that stink that shows the viability and realness of what we believe by being able to embrace even the worst of sinners.
True, some people misuse the name of Christ and Christianity, but those are fakes and liars. And much of that took place when the general public was uneducated and the 'church' was ran by those who were power hungry and educated and knew they could control the population, because the population didn't have the education to prove wrong the false preachers and power mongers. The fact that the few in power misused that power and deceived the general masses has no reflection on my Christianity.
