I was first in the Chatroom, met alot of people there. Especialy this one gay from th UK (Cant remember his name though.
I have a spiritual question though. I know we all have moments of "Come & Go Pity Partys" and normaly, we give them to God. I found something else to be quite therepudic, but don't really know how spiritualy safe it is: Using your pain, struggle or "thorn in your side" as a topic for you art (pic, music, videos, etc). Where do yall think the blues came from? Those old blues artists werent exactly the happiest people on earth. After my "pity party", i pray and give it to God...but afterwards i feel a bit "artistic" and i feel like i want to "borrow" it back just for a bit, so i can create. It's very therepudic for me. But i met some fellow christians that said thats just another form of "brooding". I think they are sooo wrong. But i do wonder if there are any spiritual dangers to this.

brooding? I don't know about that. The greatest works of art are created through great emotion. I say as long as you give it to God, create art for Him out of it too.

Edward allen poe, He wrote anabelle lee when he was in one of his greatest depressions. Think about Ernest Hemingway, and everything he wrote, he wasnt a happy man at all, he had no reason to be. His life was crap. I myself love to write when im upset. I have a hard time expressing myself verbally, so when i write i get it all out and feel much better. I see no spiritual danger in it. Alot of schools for challenged kids and children that have behavorial problems use drawing and writing as a form of expression for them, and for theraputic purposes.

Some of my best pieces of art were from trials in my life. I used art for a long time to let out my emotions the way people write in diaries do. I dont find anything wrong with it. However, you have to know when to move on and use a different muse. I think were people find it wrong is when you're trying to imatate angry feelings or keep issues unresolved. If it's true emotion then you obviously can't help it and therefore it's not something you're doing intentionally.

Lol does that make sense?

I think that that is healthy....God can bring much good from bad situations, painful mistakes, or emotions! and might help someone else see how He helped you overcome something! I kept all of my old art as a reminder of what God pulled me out of! and the new stuff We have been making together is incredibly different...I think that is visual proof of God's intervention, just like I am the living proof, the witness.

Our walk with God experiences a wide array of valid emotions ranging from joy, hope, happiness, sorrow to pain. I think using pain to express an aspect of our walk with God is valid.

There is a book in the Bible called, 'lament'ations. Lamenting isn't exactly a happy thing.

Some very painful feelings are shared right in Psalms. Those Psalms were used in Jewish worship. Meaning they were actual songs. Songs can be a form of the arts. Sooooooooo if you use pain as one of many expressions in your walk with God, you have some good foundation to stand on.
