He is speaking to the Prophet Malachi, who predicted the coming of the Baptist in the spirit and power of Elijah. Not that he was Elijah

The idea is that John comes with the same authority and passion that Elijah had, but not that he is actually Elijah reincarnated. The Messiah (Jesus) is described as a return of King David, but of course not as a reincarnated David. These figures were familiar and significant to the Jewish people, so people knew what it meant if on eof these characters was to return. It would be like living in America and describing someone as a new Martin Luther King, Jr.; by that we mean that this man will be a powerful leader and help bring justice to a disenfranchised portion of the population.

I'm not sure what your referring to. Is it a scripture that says that?

If I am correct that comes in revelation and is the end of the world as we know it and moses and elijah are in heaven with God and could come back in reality not reincarnation.

In these verses Jesus is referring to a prophecy about someone who would come before the Messiah, somebody who would pave the way. In prophecy things are not crystal clear. They can't just say "A man named John will show up", so instead they say "Elijah will show up". They're comparing the person who is to come to somebody that people already know about.

It's like when people say "Obama is Hitler". Obama isn't Hitler, Obama is Obama.

How do you explain the next few verses when Jesus says that from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force. I would say that it is because John the baptist's spirit was from the Kingdom of Heaven. Proof that our souls go to Heaven when we die and that we don't have to wait until the ressurrection.

That's a complete non sequitur.

Matthew 11:9-15

9But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
10For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
13For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

I should have said 'related verses' instead of 'the next few verses'. And I should have specified the book, chapter, and verses. My apologies.
