Has anyone ever met/heard of someone with the gift of interpreting tounges?

Sharp, there is nothing wrong with desiring a spiritual gift for personal edification as well as for prophecy and ministering. Building urself up spiritually is an adimirable goal.

this is not true at all; James 4:3..Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.. we should desire to have the gifts of the Spirit so we can be sttified, there is the gift of speaking in tongues, and there is you having the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongue. now fro this one yes it is for just you, but the gift is for the use of edification of the church. never for yourself....

I went to a new church a couple months ago and the preacher was speaking in tongues. I had never heard anyone speak in tongues before. The preacher of this church was speaking in tongues but I did not feel that it was the spirit coming over him because he was saying the same phrase over, and over. The preacher would say a few words in tongues and then talk normal, then in tongues. I have never heard anyone speak in tongues before this so I did not know what to expect.

Well you can't really say it wasn't the Holy Spirit, because not always do you just have crazy flowing word after word. Some of the time you only get a word or two. So you can't really say that.

When you got Born-Again you were born with the ability on the inside of you. There are no spiritual birth defects in the body of Christ. We are all capable of receiving this gift. Just walk in faith about it, I would just start to thank God that you have received the gift of praying in Tongues now. Let faith call it into being and done now. Then allow the Holy Ghost to bring it forth and forward. :) Remember, faith is always now, not in the future, not some time down the road, faith is now. :) Hope is in the future.

Maybe I was wrong, I do not know much about speaking in tongues and I should not have made an assumption like that.

It's just something you have to experiance I guess.
