Last year when I started college, I was very firm in my beliefs. Growing up in Lancaster County, it was kind of hard not to be. But throughout my year at school, I met so many different kinds of people. I met people who identified as gay, straight, bisexual, and lots more. I got to really know these people and the way they think. Basically, I'm just struggling with how God truly looks at homosexuals. I know the bible says that it is wrong, but God did not write the bible. Humans did. Just knowing these people and knowing where their hearts are, make it hard for me to believe that they are living in sin. I would just like some other thoughts on this matter. I even thought I was bisexual at one point. I've lost a lot of confidence in my beliefs, I think. But please, no rude comments here. I don't need to hear the typical "Being gay is wrong." "The Bible says so." I understand that. I just would like to hear some other peoples experiences. And never will I love these people any less because of their sexuality.

We are not supposed to love them any less.
But humanities 'goodness' means nothing to God. We are ALL sinners. Every single one of us are deserving of hell because of our sins. 'Good' people will go to hell because of this fact. Heaven isn't based on your works, but on accepting the gift of Gods grace, mercy and salvation. And part of the evidence of that acceptance is a Desire (not just willingness) to follow God and His standards. Where do we find His standards? The bible.
God spoke through men to write the bible. To say the bible was 'just written by men' is essentially to discredit and disregard the ENTIRE bible and everything it teaches and forces you to no longer believe in it. Because if its just a book written by men and nothing more then it has nothing to do with who God is or His character.

The issue here is your views are skewed. We are not to hate homosexuals. Or any sinner, for that matter, no matter how 'small' the sin. And we are not to confuse 'good works' as evidence of a lack of sin. Lots of people who do a lot of good are still mired in sin. God says our good works (meaning of our self as humans) are 'as filthy rags'. Meaning our good works, or a persons 'goodness' has nothing to do with their ability to get over their sin. And these unsaved homosexuals are not going to be bound for hell only because they are gay. Its because they are sinners. Whether that sin is lying, stealing, homosexuality or any other sin. All people sin. Heterosexuals are sinners bound for hell before they accept the salvation that God offers.
You are just being caught up in the secular concept of humanities goodness vs Gods grace. And you are also being caught up in the hype of the homosexual issue. There is an obvious, clear agenda to demonize people who don't accept the homosexual lifestyle (notice i didn't mention anything about hatred or mistreatment, just disagreement) and to make homosexuals the martyrs and heroes for having the strength to be gay.
This is not Gods way. Yes, homosexuals are Gods creation. Yes, they are likely hell bound. But there are other sins in their life that are also to blame for this, not just the one sin. Even if God were to say 'ok, fine, homosexuality is no longer a sin' guess what? Homosexuals would still be bound for hell if they didn't get saved and live according to Gods word. Just like heterosexuals.

The bible was written by men, yes, BUT they wrote it with the divine inspiration of God. He told them what to write. I agree with ugly's response. :)

I commend you for sharing your current questions about sexuality. I think we've all thought about it or experienced a time when we had questions about sexuality. If you are having these feelings about the opposite sex I would suggest you test it out and see if that's truly what your heart desires. (I know some people would tell you to pray or its wrong) It can only lead you into two places destruction or happiness. We can't judge you for having these feelings. However, I hope you find peace and God reveals himself to you. Don't be afraid to speak with God about how you feel. Just how your reached out to people who aren't perfect; you can reach out to him.

Well to be honest, God is righteous, Holy and created order for life. In my opinion sin is just separation from God. He has layed out what He is pleased with and needs us to fulfill His final commission. Sin separates us from God. To see God more clear is to be set apart from sin. The war is evil and our old sin nature. Gratifying the nature means to possibly be set apart from God. Many people seem nice and are awesome, we were created in the likeness of God. Jesus though needs us to complete His work. It's a reality within a reality... Don't be swayed, you seem like an awesome person.

Preface: "I don't need to hear the typical" I've written what amounted to a small essay in order to give a perspective that hopefully is not "the typical The Bible says so.", and as a result it will take more than the typical amount of time and energy to read.

This may seem a bit harsh and unnecessary, but while I think that some of the above answers are good, I don't think that they touch on the misunderstandings that (I believe) most people have about homosexuality, and even fornication in general. And while I think homosexuals are further down the metaphorical rabbit hole than fornicators, I think it is really the same rabbit hole. This may get a bit grizzly, but this is a difficult point to make, and I don't intent to mince words.

The base of either of the previously mentioned problems begins with lust, and lust almost always begins with masturbation, with the exception of those that were abused as children. Many of my secular friends are fornicators, admitting themselves to indulge in masturbation and pornography regularly in a progressive fashion since puberty. I would argue that this is by nature going to be“progressively harder” (refer to serial killers https://www.netnanny.com/blog/what-serial-killers-and-murderers-think-about-pornography/),but that is a slightly different point. The point now is that it is a slow fade when people give themselves to sin. A man does not go from having no sexual interest all the way to raping a woman in one day.It starts slowly, and over time certain things seem to become desirable which never seemed desirable to us at some point in the distant past (such as ones childhood). Some men have let their lust take such control of them (notice I use the word “let”) that they are just one chance situation away from doing something unthinkable to most (refer to Jeffrey Dauhmers first victim First Blood — Jeffrey Dahmer — Crime Library).

Now, not everyone goes as far down the hole as Jeffrey Dauhmer did(Dahmerkilled 17 men, molesting some of them, between 1978 to 1991), but some people are just as depraved as Dauhmer, but have never had the opportunity to kill. One might say, “These people aren't hurting anybody” but this is precisely why I think we need to reconsider our idea that hurting people is the only wrong.
Is an affair wrong if nobody ever finds out?
Is a lie wrong if it makes someone feel better?
Is it not right to hurt a violent man to save a life?
And most relevantly, is it okay to drink and drive so long as you don't get in an accident?
This is exactly the way that I see the indulgence of lust: letting yourself lose control of your desire.
I don't know what determines how fall a person falls into it, but I doubt that anyone, at the offset, seriously desires to be watching porn every night and paying for prostitutes, or being attracted to stuffed animals, or real animals. The nature of the perversions is something else, but they are all equally easy to prevent – stay out of the rabbit hole. One man develops a foot fetish, the other a perversion towards young boys. One man drives home drunk unscratched, the other kills a family of four. The first man will probably be considered a decent guy by his friends, and the second will be considered (and rightfully so) a murderer. Most of the first man's friends would probably say “his heart is in the right place” but they might not even realize the extent of his drinking, or realize that he is driving drunk. He might say, “There's nothing wrong with having a good time” in the same way some might say, “There is nothing wrong with love”. Both statements conceal the details that comprise the terrible truth, which, if seen, makes the statements seem silly.

So far I've said nothing exclusively pertaining to homosexuals or homosexuality. All I have said is that lust is bad, and that all external expressions of lust are essentially the same crime. You cannot consistently say that pedophiles are wrong if you watch pornography anymore than one drunk driver can say another is in the wrong because he got in an accident. And this is where my offensive stance on homosexuality comes in: Homosexuality is just one of many symptoms of someone who has given themselves over to lust. Show me the homosexual that does not watch porn, does not masturbate, does not fantasize, does not fornicate, etc., and I will reconsider my stance. This is my view of homosexuality which is not the result of obvious psychological causes, which are outlined in the below articles. However, to be honest, most of the homosexuals or bisexuals(if not all) that I know or have read stories of (written by themselves), clearly have experiences in their past which fall under the psychological cause of homosexual tendencies which are outlined below.

Remember that the issue is not about love, it is about lust.People, even heterosexuals, sometimes shy away from talking about how they let their lust take control of them. They say that they are looking for love when they are horny, or that they want someone to show them how they feel when they want them to “put out”. But lust is a monster, and the more it is fed the more it will want. Once you realize this, it becomes less of a mystery why feeding the monster is considered a sin.

I know this is long but it's SO important and critical to know these things, and I DO NOT CONDEMN YOU.

I experienced being from straight to identifying as bisexual to straight to lesbian to pansexual to straight to lesbian to graysexual, so on and so forth. I understand how you think "How can it be wrong?" but it is. When you have a relationship with Jesus you just know that you know that it is wrong, unless if you stay far from The Lord, it will get to you. Remember (please read this I say it COMPLETELY out of LOVE, Jesus loves you, if you are convicted of these things ask God to change your heart and He WILL forgive you, repent. Also read Romans 3 which speaks of ALL of us being fallen and NONE is righteous, and that we all NEED JESUS CHRIST):

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him" 1 John 2:15

"And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful." Mark 4:19

"
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world." 1 Peter 5:6-9

"
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me." Luke 14:26

"
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:" Matthew 6:19

"
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." Matthew 10:37

"
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." John 14:23

"
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me." Matthew 11:6

"2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry." 2 Timothy 4:2-5

"26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." Romans 1:26-32

"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell." Matthew 5:29

"Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:" Hebrews 3:8

Jesus will forgive you!

"I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" Luke 5:23

"Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee." Acts 8:22

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised." Luke 4:18

"But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die." Ezekiel 18:21

"
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;" 2 Timothy 2:25

"
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil." Proverbs 16:6

"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh themshall have mercv" Proverbs 28:13

"Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?" Isaiah 56:6

"And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace." Jeremiah 29

"
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40 And Jesus answering said unto him,
Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon,
Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 T
hou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46
My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48 And he said unto her,
Thy sins are forgiven.
49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50 And he said to the woman,
Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace." Luke 7:37-50

"13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work." 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17

"51 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar." Psalm 51

I know this is probably hard to do, but if those people are influencing you that way, you have to cut off all those relationships/friendships if you REALLY love Jesus (I had too). But it takes time, just keep walking with Jesus Christ, everything takes time and He will strengthen you and if you feel like you should cut it all off then do it, it's better to not gain the whole world and lose your soul. And if not, well then that's it. It's all your choice but even so Jesus still loves you.

The fact that God gave us the Bible is an evidence and illustration of His love for us. The term “revelation” simply means that God communicated to mankind what He is like and how we can have a right relationship with Him. These are things that we could not have known had God not divinely revealed them to us in the Bible. Although God’s revelation of Himself in the Bible was given progressively over approximately 1500 years, it has always contained everything man needs to know about God in order to have a right relationship with Him. If the Bible is truly the Word of God, then it is the final authority for all matters of faith, religious practice, and morals.

You should always show love for someone. No matter what their sexuality.

With all the rhetoric out there on different sides, we wanted you to know that Bible-believing Christians should love homosexual people and support their right to live free from persecution, fear, and hatred. True Christians are to love everybody, as 1 John 3:14-15 says. However, we do not condone a lifestyle or actions that are contrary to God’s teaching. This includes both homosexuality and hatred of homosexuals. Because you strongly believe something, that does not mean you hate people. Because many gays strongly believe homosexuality is a valid lifestyle, does that mean they all hate all people who believe it is immoral? -- I hope not. Likewise, even though those who follow the Bible strongly believe homosexuality is a serious sin, that does not mean we hate people who are gay.

Christianity is opposed to hatred of anybody, and Christians should not even condone others hating homosexuals. 1 John 4:19-21 says that if we hate others, then the love of God is not in us. As with many sins, not just homosexuality, we need to "hate the sin, but love the sinner."

Some, such as the Nazis, feed off of mutual hatred. No one should feed off hate, whether they call themselves Gay/Lesbian, Christian, or other. But, even though a person with strong convictions disagrees with you and opposes a political agenda, does that mean he or she must hate you? --No!

Since we care about gay people, and since some religious leaders are failing to tell what the Bible really teaches about homosexuality, the record needs to be set straight. Because of our love for homosexuals, we feel an urgency in presenting this information. Our motive is that we want to see more people of all kinds of backgrounds in heaven. Gays are like everyone else: they need to repent of sin and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to live with God’s people forever.

Its brokenness because of the fall, what John Piper says, that its just broken sexuality, and that thanks to God we can be redeemed and we are to avoid participating in ungodly lifestyles that dishonor ourselves.

Love the sinner, hate the sin. And it only takes ONE sin to be on the outs with God. Kinda like how one oh poop erases a million attaboys. Of course, it only takes one act of asking forgiveness to get back in.

Love the sinner hate the sin. That's your blueprint.

God created male and female, so the bible teaches us about God and his Will, if we do not qoute from it we have a serious problem, the bible was written by humans yes but they were filled by the Holy Spirit, and what they wrote was not their thinking but from God. God has spoken about those people that they live in sin and what God said or say is not open for discussion, it is law to us. our opinion does nt matter.
