I've grown up in a catholic home my whole life but I have been avidly atheist since I was 7. I moved to America at age 11 and met a Christian guy. We had a lot of debates and arguements. I lost contact with him. In highschool I could out debate any Christian but him. Before we lost contact last month he had me questioning what I really believe. I'm here for answers. But please remember.

1. I am LOGICAL please try to use sound logic and reason.

2. I know the bible like the back of my hand. So please spare me the john 3:16 spam.

3. Please do not try to explain how god exist by saying god exist and telling me about god. That's circular reasoning.

I want to know the truth. I'm looking for a logical explanation of how a god could exist and why Christianity is the one true belief.

I have a PhD in clinical psychology and always used logic until I met the Lord. The only real way to really understand and Know Him is to have a true authentic supernatural encounter with HIM. But HE does that and shows up. He is supernatural and not logical. No one on earth could tell me anything about the Lord except the Lord. I only listen to Him because no one understands me like Him. In my experience, He had to show up personally in my life. God is a Spirit and showed up this way in my life. I pray in the name of Jesus that He also shows up In LOVE and not to debate you. When HIS Spirit shows up it's PERSONAL and you will know and that is the TRUTH.

Well Perhaps you will find your answers here:) I would like to say many athiests know the bible like the back of theirhand as many of the most dedicated athiest were once Christians but knowing the bible isn't enough, the secrets and deep meanings of the bible is hidden from those who do not have a true relationship with God. The Pharisee's that Jesus often debated are perfect examples. I cannot tell you how God exists as it is a thing you have to find, anyone can tell you about God or why he exists but unless you yourself have a life changing moment in which you seek him they are just words.
You may need to ask God to prove he is real like I did, he answered me that very night.

If you want to know the truth you must build a loving relationship with God

Read Mere Christianity and the writings of Thomas Aquinas. If you want basic logic, go there.

How could a being that created a universe that functions on logic be illogical? And then why hasn't god given me this experience. Is my soul worthless to him?

He crated logic but our minds cannot comprehend him as he is beyond our ability to understand fully. But even the bible says lean not on our own understanding. You have to seek him out

Then how do you know the Bible like the back of your hand? I've been a Christian for as long as I can remember and read the Bible regularly and I couldn't say the same as you. The Holy Spirit needs to open one's eyes to the reality of God and who Christ is. A well-reasoned faith is awesome, but means little if one isn't open to the leading of the Holy Spirit in their life and in their reading of the Bible.

Just curious - Have you ever read a New King James Version of the Bible all the way through? It is a little easier to understand and if nothing else I would recommend reading the book of John in the New Testament. God's character has been so misrepresented by so many of us that if you could read and see the God of love and what His true character is like it just might help you in your search.

If Christians have been harsh or judgmental to you I apologize for our behavior we are not suppose to be that way. Blessings to you as you search for answers. If you would like to Personal Message me I am available.

I said unless I have too. I felt I had to read the bible and know what it says to reject it. I've read it about 12 times front to back.
and my mind is open. Just open to sound reason.

Yes I own I NKJV. I do like to read the KJV too though. I also have a Geneva. As long as it's Textus Receptus I'll read from it. And I really appreciate the offer. What made you guys believe in a god?

How can I build a relationship with someone I don't believe in? And why does god try so hard to hide from us.

No. Honestly I couldn't. Lets be honest, if God exists, its worth studying yourself and not looking at a basic wikipedia summary. The tools are out there, but based on your requirements, I gave you the tools that were written to you specifications.

He hides so we seek him out:) Do you want proof of God? if you do you have to seek him out if you are here merely to debate you will not find the truth

that depends. are you willing to find him? many times our unwillingess to open our hearts to him is what keeps him hidden. do you truly want to know God? do you want him to change your life and give you a true reason to live? will you beg for him to reveal himself to you and enter your heart?
