Christian Chat Rooms & Forums FAQ

Here you can find answers to questions about how the board works. Use the links or search box below to find your way around.

Registration

In order to use the Christian Chat rooms and forums, you need to first register a chat nickname. Registering a chat nickname gives you your own identity in the chat rooms and the forums; it will show with the messages that you send in the chat rooms and messages that you post in the forum.

Once you join Christian Chat (by registering a chat nickname), you will have access to the following features:

  • Text chat in the chat rooms
  • Voice chat in the chat rooms
  • Posting new threads in the chat forums
  • Replying to other peoples' threads
  • Editing your posts
  • Receiving email notification of replies to posts and threads you specify
  • Sending private messages to other chat members
  • Creating albums of pictures and comment on others' pictures
  • Adding events to the chat forum calendar
  • Setting up a 'contact list' to quickly see which of your Christian Chat friends are online.

How do I register my chat nickname?

You register your chat nickname by clicking on the 'Register' link here, or near the top of the page. First you will be asked for your date of birth. (By default your date of birth will not be shown to others; it will simply be used internally to calculate your age, which will show to others, and keep your age up to date.) Then you will be asked to type your desired chat nickname, make a password, and enter a valid email address. In addition there will be a few other fields (such as your gender, your country, whether you are married or single, etc.). This information (along with your age) shows in your profile because most people in the chat room want to know these things about the person they are chatting with. Once this is complete you may have to click on a link in an 'activation email' sent to your email address. Once you have done this you will be registered and ready to chat in the Christian Chat rooms and post (and respond) in the forums.

Note that your email address will not be shown to others (unless you explicitly change the default for this setting later, in your account).

Lost Passwords

I forgot my password. What can I do?

If you forget your chat password, you can click on the 'Forgotten Your Password' link here, or on any page that requires you to fill in your password.

This link brings up a page where you should enter your registered email address. An email will be sent to that address shortly, with instructions for resetting your chat password.

Since passwords are encrypted, there is no way to resend your original password. This option provides you with the ability to reset your password.

You must be able to receive emails to your registered email address for this to work. You may need to check your spam filters and folder if you do not see this email in a few minutes.

Search all the FAQ's

Select this option if you would like your search to look in the text of FAQ items as well as their titles.

Select an option here to specify how you would like your search query to be treated. 'Any words' will return the most numerous but possibly least relevant results, while 'Complete phrase' will return only results that contain exactly what you are searching for.
