I know a few filipinos here in Tennessee, even frequently stayed with a filipino family for most my child hood on the weekends or summer break from school, what I really liked from the visits was some of the great food,my favorite being beef steak and rice, just was wondering what some other people's favorites of filipino style food are!

Thanks, joe for sharing that. I do like beef steak too, but been thinking what filipino style food to tell abt that i like. Honest, when i hear filipino style food, what comes to mind is the 'Sweet' style tomato sauce often used for pasta here, but which i no longer appreciate as i did. There's also the tamis-anghang or sweet-spicy ketchup that goes w/ many fried dishes or meatloaf.

My tastes have so shifted, u see. I still appreciate rellenong bangus, deboned milkfish mixed w/ grated carrots, onions, etc. (but can live the rest of my life without lechon). Took so long to make when we were young, removing the small bones (tinik, we call them, different from the buto or bones of chicken). I have learned to eat veggies cooked in coconut milk like moringa and taro, also the simple veggie things they cook up north called bulanglang w/ some ginger in the broth. And salads from the malabar spinach, wc the children still havent learned to eat=).

Almost missed to mention the different rice cakes made from glutinous rice!

The only stuff I have ever had was Bicol at a pot-luck lunch at an old job but I really liked it. Thankfully the guy who brought it tamed down the amount of spice in it.
Some days, I feel like removing the SIM from my phone, breaking it in pieces, tossing the phone in a wood chipper, grabbing my bug-out bag, leave everyone without saying a word, and just going ghost for the rest of my life.

That which doesn't kill you gives you a lot of unhealthy coping mechanisms and a dark sense of humor.

I like chicken and pork adobo.

I'm not a bad guy. I'm just misunderstood.

Often neglected verses on tithing: "‘If, therefore, a man wishes to redeem part of his tithe, he shall add to it one-fifth of it. ‘For every tenth part of herd or flock, whatever passes under the rod, the tenth one shall be holy to the LORD. ‘He is not to be concerned whether it is good or bad, nor shall he exchange it; or if he does exchange it, then both it and its substitute shall become holy. It shall not be redeemed.’” -Lev 27:32-33.

Well, I wasn't too far off. This is what happens when a white guy starts talking about the food of a different culture.

We have several Filipino friends, and they are always bringing out some new dish when we are at their houses. Out of maybe 20, so far, nothing has grabbed me.
