Well it has already passed and thank God our power is back on (it was out for less than 12 hours).

Fortunately we only got the edge of it. Northern tip of our province got the eye of the hurricane/typhoon pass through it, and the nearby province of Leyte got the first direct hit so they got the worst of it.

The government and the president himself did a good job of alerting people well in advance and got people to evacuate or move to better shelter. The scary thing about this was the near 200-mph wind speed (measured as sustained wind speed on one-minute average), many saying it's the worst in recorded history to make landfall, but there was less rain from it because it was fast moving and so not so many deaths from flooding and whatever.

Here's a video of a good local news summary of it's initial hit in the nearby province of Leyte:

So glad to hear that you and your family are safe and that the government was on top of things to try and minimise the crisis, God is good.

Very glad to hear you're alright, and that the storm is passing through so quickly.

I'll continue to keep everyone in my prayers... I'm sure there's still a lot of damage, and a lot of problems.

Please continue to keep us updated.

Hello Roboop,

My family isn't affected with typhoon but my relatives in Northern part of Cebu have been severely affected. I still don't have updates with them yet. :(

How are you and your family? Hope everything is okay.

To All Cc friends,

Thank you so much for the concern and prayers. <333

[h=3]Psalm 46[/h]King James Version (KJV)

46 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

Thanks for the news Dliz. Praying for your relatives in northern Cebu. No cell phone communication with those relatives?

@Roboop

My cousin emailed last night that 70% of our ancestral house has been ripped off. Reading his email made me teary-eyed because I had good childhood memories in that house. It breaks my heart every time i see updates and news on TV. They are in dire need of food and clothes. Please continue to pray for Philippine especially those who were greatly affected by typhoon Yolanda. Thank you for all your prayers. To HIM be glory and honor even if this calamity has hit us hard.

The aftermath is truly devastating. I couldn't help get teary also watching the news and videos online. This year has been too much to handle for our country, the war in Zamboanga, the 7.5 magnitude earthquake, tornado and now the super typhoon and it's not over yet since the weather bureau is expecting 4 more storms to enter before the year ends. I couldn't imagine what it is to be like to be in those affected areas, it's horrifying. And now another storm is coming it may not be as strong as Yolanda but still floods are possible. Please be safe everyone!!!
