I think we all need to learn to stop the blame game first. It will never get us anywhere and will only worsen the situation. Believe that we can all contribute something for the betterment of our country even in our own little ways. Maybe by then we can see change. :)

You're absolutely right but on the other hand it's obvious that some people (not even the government) has done nothing but affliction to our county (just saying) so let's believe that we can all contribute something for the good of our country and only in God's helping hands we can see a change. :D God bless

And yet we are one of the poorest nations in Asia. Do you think our Faith-based society is pulling us down?

Is it our faith working against us or our lack of faith holding us back?

Why are the Buddhists of Singapore, the Moslems of Brunei, the Hindus of India or the Shintoist of Japan are better provided than the Christians of our country?

Okay lang sa Tagalog ang sagot :)
I guess you are a misplaced Phlippino? For I see union jack in your flag; but what would the union jack be doing in the corner of a Philippine flag?

First problem with "Christian statistics" is defining who is a Christian.

Godliness is not a way of gain.

I beg to disagree Last, Catholics maybe Christians but not True Christians. Cause if they are True Christians, why do they have so many idols which is prevalent here in PHL, many mediators (one of the famost one is Mary, add those so-called saints that have been proclaimed by the so-called "pope"), in infact there's only one mediator between Man and God and that is Jesus --- 1Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

A True Christian, only follows Jesus Christ -- John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

if we only ask through the name of Jesus Christ, then the things we asked for will be given according to His will. Material things aren't important for True Christians, what is important to them is having a Savior and that He is able to give you joy in your heart even when you only have one penny in your pocket.
Gideon007,

I saw this on Facebook : Don't judge others because they sin differently than you. No one is "truer" Christian than the other. Every one of us needs Christ's death to save us from our sins.

These are some I don´t. :9
Have you ever thought that it is your "tradition" not to celebrate X-mas or Easter?

it's kinda weird but this reminds me of nativity story hehe. People always thought a messiah would be born in an empire or a kingdom for it was foretold, "a King will be born" but then again out of dismay, the Saviour was born in a manger. History even said that Jesus as a carpenter, was a second to the poorest class of people.
Clever ! I like this one.

True... we were born in different situations so we may make the most of what we are being given.

Perhaps the Philippines is composed of many Christians/Roman Catholics and remains poor because there is no ambition to acquire more, or the pressure simply isn't there. This may be the result of instilled values or a state of 'contentment'.
Wealth and money is a man-made concept... maybe it's not supposed to gauge an entire country's faith. After all, heaven does not measure 'wealth' in the same way.
Not really. God promised the Israelites the land flowing with milk and honey....

^^^I wouldn't be so quick to generalize all Catholics. IMO, even though they follow traditions and the veneration of saints, I would like to emphasize that this is not the case today. I believe that there is an expanding charismatic Catholicism movement in response to the growth of protestant evangelicals here in the PH. This charismatic Catholicism emphasizes many of the same themes as born again Christianity, including a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. So yep, I would not want to start offending RC by saying they are not true Christians. I am just very glad that there is an undergoing movement within RC which emphasize the truth why our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ died in the cross.

In response to why we are the poorest, well that is by our earthly standards. As mentioned in so many replies in this thread, all earthly riches are temporary. And people tend to have different priorities in life coupled with a certain level of contentment, and maybe getting rich doesn't hit number 1 in their checklist.

And no, I don't think faith-based society pulls us down. America is largely influenced by the Western Tradition, and look where they are right now. :)
Earthly riches may be temporary but for a hungry child, poverty is eternity. People may have different priorities, if they have choices. But if what one has is just to survive the day, there is nothing to prioritize.

Hi bro gideon! :)

Sorry but I am not specifically refering to to any movement regarding in my post. What I am saying is that there is a trend right now in the catholic church which centers on having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As an evangelical born again Christian, I have so many RC friends who still are catholics and by the grace of God are having a personal relationship with Him. Even our Pastor said that he believes that there are RC members who deep inside their hearts and by faith have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and believe in Him and we will see them in Heaven. Brother, don't limit your opinions of what you only knows about RC in general. And don't let not one experience of yours with an RC makes you think they are all the same because there are RC who only believes in Jesus Christ without venerating idols and following the catholic sacraments.

What I am saying here is don't be so fundamentalist because I experienced first hand how shoving our evangelical beliefs and opinions only makes RC people hates us and thus becoming hostile to born again Christians, which eventually will result from being away from Jesus Christ. Jesus commanded us, to declare the good news. Let us learn in God's grace how we can bridge that gap so we can see more RC accept Jesus as their personal Savior.
Very wise.

That was my belief when I was your age. But now that I am older, I am starting to believe only God's miracles could better our country.

Atwood,

I am not a misplaced Filipino (not Philippino). Philippines is one of the world's major exporter of skilled professionals hence you'll find us ( Filipinos )everywhere in the world. And by the way, it is Australian flag in my profile not the Philippine flag. Union Jack is there because Australia is a member of British Commonwealth like New Zealand.

You will also notice that there are Filipino's in America. They are also not misplaced. They are Americans too like you.

God is a sovereign God. Accept Jesus as Lord and savior. We are saved by grace not by our works. Is there any other formula for salvation. Jesus said " I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the father except through me " . If we are using the bible as a means to hurt people we are not using it wisely. The bible clearly says it. This is not from my own. Again, God is a sovereign God. Even the most wicked person can receive the gift of salvation. That is IF that person willingly receives it and not rejects it. God is so loving that HE doesn't want anyone to go to hell. That is why Jesus dwelt among us. The decision lies in us.
