The word ANTI means LIKE

The Papacy say they are Christ veiled in flesh do they not?
Thats incorrect.

antichristos means an opponent of the Messiah, that is very important, an opponent of the Christ is one who does not accept and believe in the Messiah Jesus Christ.

anti the Greek word means 'opposite' as in 'anti-thesis', opposing view, in opposition to...in conflict with, contrast, anti means anti, does not mean 'like' never has, that is ridiculous and false.

Guys, the world is going to fall head over heels for the anti-Christ. He's going to bring world peace, wishy-washy feel-good spiritualism, and deceptive unity. Does that honestly sound like the Catholic church to you guys? The church that can't get good publicity from anyone, be they atheists or protestants?

I think we had all better quit looking at the false Christ and Hell, and start focusing on Our Lord and Heaven. This type of Biblical exegesis is divisive and destructive.

Jesus did say keep your eyes on me. Remember when Jesus walked on water, Peter chose to follow. When did he start to sink? When he took his eyes off Jesus. Something to think about? God bless, pickles

The Antichrist, according to Christianity is one who fulfills Biblical prophecies concerning an adversary of Christ while resembling him in a deceptive manner.

"Antichrist" is the English translation of the original Koine Greek ντίχριστος, pronounced än-tē'-khrē-stos.
It is made up of two root words, αντί + Χριστός (anti + Christos). "Αντί" can mean not only “against” and “opposite of”, but also “in place of", "Χριστός", translated "Christ", is Greek for the Hebrew "Messiah" meaning "anointed,"

To enact a substitution- "in place of", if you would like to use that derivative, you still need to be fundamentally opposed, the RCC do not set themselves up in the place of Jesus Christ as they recognize Him as Lord and Saviour, that has always been the doctrine and position of the RCC, they recognize Jesus as the Messiah and the Christ. So they are not the "antichrist" and there are many antichrists in the world are those that deny, and oppose Christ as Messiah, they do not recognize Him as the Messiah, this leaves it open for there to be a substitution, for the prophecies to be fulfilled, so then first is the denial then the substitution - this is what constitutes a true anti-christos.

So you see you are missing a step, the first step is denial, the RCC do not deny Jesus Christ, they are essentially Christian, one may not agree with all the RCC has done or all their doctrine or statements, but it's quite a stretch to accuse them of being utterly lying, decieving, satan worshipping anti-christs....

Hello Dragoon9,
A lot of people who think they have a great relationship with God, unknowingly already have the mark of the beast. That has been the case for well over 1260 years. Affecting Billions through out history.
SOmebody has been watching too much Harold Kamping...

Do you think the whole world will fall for somebody that openly opposes Jesus ? How about a subtle imposter ? Anti can also mean in the place of. Think of anti-tobacco airosol, you use it to take the place of the tobacco smell.

Yea, I think so, as in revelations it says that many will be beheaded for a testimony for Jesus, so it is possible, although I don't know for sure that Christianty could become outlawed be an openly defiant anti-christ and if we look around there are all sorts of new-age religions that are fooling many Christians into denying Christ, even teaching that all humans are Christ, like it's some personal development program, Gnostics are making a comeback as well...I wouldn't be suprised if many would easily turn their backs on Jesus and deny Him if threatened or co-erced to.

But there also could be a 'substitution' like a fake return of Jesus that would decieve many, but that cannot be the RCC, I mean I think the most unlikely would be a old Pope in the Vatican tricking people that he was Jesus Christ! LOL...I shouldn't laugh, but you know what I mean.

Christ cannot return until the man of sin is revealed.

Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for (that day will not come) until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

Well you might be surprised, but they do consider the pope to be in the place of Christ on earth (Vicar of Christ )

Take care that we lose not that salvation, that life and breath which thou hast given us, for thou art our shepherd, thou art our physician, thou art our governor, thou art our husbandman, thou art finally another God on earth." Christopher Marcellus in Oration addressing Pope Julius II, in Fifth Lateran Council, Session IV (1512), Council Edition. Colm. Agrip. 1618, (Sacrorum Conciliorum, J.D. Mansi (ed.), Vol. 32, col. 761), (also quoted in History of the Councils, vol. XIV, col 109, by Labbe and Cossart)

."To believe that our Lord God the Pope has not the power to decree as he is decreed, is to be deemed heretical." The Gloss of Extravagantes of Pope John XXII, Cum. Inter, title 14, chapter 4, "Ad Callem Sexti Decretalium", Column 140, Paris, 1685. (In an Antwerp edition of the Extravagantes, the words, "Dominum Deum Nostrum Papam" ("Our Lord God the Pope") can be found in column 153).

"The Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth...by divine right the Pope has supreme and full power in faith, in morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true vicar, the head of the entire church, the father and teacher of all Christians. He is the infallible ruler, the founder of dogmas, the author of and the judge of councils; the universal ruler of truth, the arbiter of the world, the supreme judge of heaven and earth, the judge of all, being judged by no one, God himself on earth." Quoted in the New York Catechism.

"The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth." Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, "Cities Petrus Bertanous". "...We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty..." Pope Leo XIII, in Praeclara Gratulationis Publicae (The Reunion of Christendom), Encyclical promulgated on June 20, 1894.

Who is your master ? The one you obey of course. What if the antichrist could mislead the whole world (like the bible says) It would have to be something that everybody accepts. There is no way someone is going to force good christians today to accept a tattoo or chip. Wont it be better to die for Jesus than to accept the mark ?
What if its something christians today accept without question ? How about its something so part of our christian lives that the mere suggestion of it would make that person look like an idiot and we wouldnt even think twice about it.
The antichrist does not need to force anyone to do anything. He only has to fool everybody to follow what he commands and disregard Gods commands.
I believe that a proper study of scripture and history leaves no doubt that the antichrist power is the papacy , not just one person but the papacy as a religious and political power , with the pope at its head.

And the mark of this beast ?

''I have repeatedly offered $1,000 to anyone who can prove to me from the Bible alone that I am bound to keep Sunday holy. There is no such law in the Bible. It is a law of the holy Catholic Church alone. The Bible says 'Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.' The Catholic Church says, No. By my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day of the week. And lo! The entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the Holy Catholic Church." Priest Thomas Enright, C.S.S.R., February 18, 1884

“The observance of Sunday by the Protestants is homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the [Roman Catholic] Church.” Monsignor Louis Segur, Plain Talk about the Protestantism of Today, p. 213.

Question: Which is the Sabbath day?
Answer: Saturday is the Sabbath day.
Question: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
Answer: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.” Rev. Peter Geiermann C.S.S.R., The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p. 50 (1946).
"But since Saturday, not Sunday, is specified in the Bible, isn't it curious that non?Catholics who profess to take their religion directly from the Bible and not from the Church, observe Sunday instead of Saturday? Yes, of course, it is inconsistent; but this change was made about fifteen centuries before Protestantism was born, and by that time the custom was universally observed. They have continued the custom, even though it rests upon the authority of the Catholic Church and not upon an explicit text in the Bible. The observance remains as a reminderof the Mother Church from which the non?Catholic sects broke away??like a boy running away from home but still carrying in his pocket a picture of his mother or a locket of her hair." The Faith of Millions: The Credentials of the Catholic Religion, by Rev. John O’ Brien, Ph.D., p. 473.

John Laux- A Course in Religion for Catholic High Schools and Academies (1 936) "Some theologians have held that God likewise directly determined the Sunday as the day of worship in the New Law, that He Himself has explicitly substituted the Sunday for the Sabbath. But this theory is now entirely abandoned. It is now commonly held that God simply gave His Church the power to set aside whatever day or days she would deem suitable as Holy Days. The Church chose Sunday, the first day of the week, and in the course of time added other days as holy days."

The Catholic Cardinal Gibbons, in Faith of Our Fathers, pg. 111, said, "You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we (The Roman Catholic Church) never sanctify.

''Reason and sense demand the acceptance of one or the other of these alternatives: either Protestantism and the keeping holy of Saturday, or Catholicity and the keeping holy of Sunday. Compromise is impossible.'' John Cardinal Gibbons, The Catholic Mirror, December 23, 1893

"Sunday is a Catholic institution, and... can be defended only on Catholic principles... From beginning to end of Scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first." Catholic Press, Aug. 25, 1900

''The [Roman Catholic] Church changed the observance of the Sabbath to Sunday by right of the divine, infallible authority given to her by her founder, Jesus Christ. The Protestant claiming the Bible to be the only guide of faith, has no warrant for observing Sunday.'' The Catholic Universe Bulletin, August 14, 1942, p. 4.

"Wise pastoral intuition suggested to the Church the christianization of the notion of Sunday as "the day of the sun", which was the Roman name for the day and which is retained in some modern languages.(29) This was in order to draw the faithful away from the seduction of cults which worshipped the sun, and to direct the celebration of the day to Christ, humanity's true "sun "-Pope John Paul II-DIES DOMINI-Dies Hominis, May 31, 1998

Daniel Ferres- ed., Manual of Christian Doctrine (1916) "Question: How prove you that the Church hath power to command feasts and holy days? "Answer. By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of, and therefore they fondly contradict themselves, by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feasts commanded by the same Church.'

Augsburg Confession of Faith art. 28; written by Melanchthon, approved by Martin Luther, 1530; as published in The Book of Concord of the Evangelical Lutheran Church "They [Roman Catholics] refer to the Sabbath Day, as having been changed into the Lord's Day, contrary to the Decalogue, as it seems. Neither is there any example whereof they make more than concerning the changing of the Sabbath Day. Great, say they, is the power of the Church, since it has dispensed with one of the Ten Commandments!"

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath and works on the Sabbath, for a Christian everyday is the Sabbath and that was what was originally intended by God as the 7th day was an eternal rest day, so Jesus Christ is again fulfilling the Sabbath and it's true meaning...Saturday is not the Sabbath, everyday is and Sunday is a day of worship and respect and holy-day because it's the day Christ rose from the tomb, so it's appropriate for Christians to adopt that day.

That is not what God intended with the sabbath , its a blessing not a burden. To do good on the sabbath is not wrong ....if im a doctor i can heal on the sabbath , if my child falls into a hole ill take him out even if its hard work. God never changed the 7th day sabbath to the first day as a day of worship, the rcc did ,read the quotes. They are proud of it and give it as proof that they are the one true church with all the power.

Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time

If you personally want to keep Saturday as a rest day or a day reserved for respect and worship of God, than there is nothing wrong with that, if somebody else has Sunday as theirs there is no problem, the Sabbath of the new Covenant is everyday.

When God brought in Mosaic Law He meant it like this; 'Man is a sinful creature, you do no good works before Me, none whatsoever, you are unrighteous'....Labour is a punishment for the fall, for sin, God says on Sabbath day 'do nothing', 'cess all labour', labour is a punishment for sin, the first Sabbath was a 7th day that was an eternal day, Man broke it, Mosaic law does not fix that - Jesus does, Jesus Christ gains victory over sin, He restores the Sabbath to an eternal day, not 6 days of punishment then one day 'do nothing', that was most likely God had to watch the children of Israel sin 6 days a week, if they did nothing least they could not sin as much!

Again Jesus Christ is Lord over the Sabbath so a Christian as a child of adoption is a Christian not just on Saturday, but is a Christian everyday, whether at work or at rest. Is there a Sabbath day after Calvary? Yes - Hebrews 4:9-10 says "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His." and then Romans 14:5-6 "One man esteemeth one day above another, another esteemeth everyday alike. Let everyman be persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth unto the Lord, and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it."

Acts 20:7 "And on the first day of the week, when the diciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight."
