Hi Homewardbound,

Do you feel that the verses that you posted cancel out the other verses? I don't disagree with any of the passages that you shared.

I believe that every word is applicable.

When Jesus said that man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, He meant every word.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Paul is talking to believers there. He said that he prays that their whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

And if we sin?

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

So Christians of the early church had to consider these things. When that change?
And so how can this be done? Maybe just as Paul sais this below and is for you. you and you, along with me you think?

Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

So do you believe this to be you as well. I know it is me by God. God gets all the credit. God did this through my being Baptized with God which brought me to die to self and thus be alive to God in the Spirit of God by God's doing, not mikne, I just believe God.
[h=3]Romans 6[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? [SUP]2 [/SUP]God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? [SUP]3 [/SUP]Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? [SUP]4 [/SUP]Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. [SUP]5 [/SUP]For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: [SUP]6 [/SUP]knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. [SUP]7 [/SUP]For he that is dead is freed from sin. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: [SUP]9 [/SUP]knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. [SUP]10 [/SUP]For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. [SUP]11 [/SUP]Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus asked us to be careful of "wolves in sheep's cloth", not wolves who are as they are. Aethists and other people who does not believe in God, is not what Jesus was talking abt. He was talking abt people who do things in the name of God, but inside they will be having something else. So that might be Christians only (mere christians)

Mt 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

So they prophesies in the name of Jesus Christ, those who cast out devils and do wonderful things in the name of Jesus. They are not such people who says "Jesus is not the lord" or "there is no God".So we have to be careful with people who preach the Gospel, but are bad inside.

What God wants from us is to help others and show the love of God to the destitutes and the lost. That would be the good fruits. along with love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,Meekness, temperance: (Gal 5:22-23)

We will know the wolves in sheep's cloth with the money they made by taking God's name, the luxurious life they live, with their negligence toward poor and needy etc.
Seek God for God and God alone, just to know God, for no other reason and then read the word, trusting God to reveal truth to you, and God will do exactly this to each and every one of us. The truth sets us free, so if we are not free then there might be error in our truth and might need to re-think our truth over to find the error that is keeping us in bondage

"Comfort God by letting God know that you would see God just to dwell in God's Presence. Not for teaching, not for material gain, not even for a message, but for God. The longing of the human heart to be loved for itself is something caught from the Great Divine Heart."

there are lots on this forum

they are the ones who do not agree with me
maybe rather agree with God. Does God love you? Did God go to the cross for you? Did God take away the sin of the world at the cross or not?
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

In whose sight did Christ do this for? Was it not Father?
Colossians 1:22 in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

So what do we do with this since we are cleansed by God through Son at Son's death?
Are we saved at death or at life, and where is this life at?
Romans 1:4 and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
Romans 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
Romans 2:29 but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Romans 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
1 Corinthians 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned

So by belief in God we are of the Spirit of God by the resurrected Christ, God giving this to us that believe God yes?
Is there any other way to be born again as Christ said before the cross this is what he came to do was to give us life.
So do we believe it is all God or not?

Thanks for the advise brother. God bless u.

But i have a question, how can we expect truth to be revealed to everyone. Like the OP asked how can men find the wolves in sheep's cloth? they are all in the churches, nowhere else. And common men like us go and listen to these wolves in sheep's cloth. They are stopping people from knowing the truth.

I have problem with only these people, the church pastors and preachers and evangelists. Everything they teach is against the word of God. People are used to believing what they have taught in the church. How many of these common men understands that these churches are only there for making money? Just to show they might have few orphanages, elderly home. But is that enuf?

Hi again Homewardbound,

Have you ever considered that Paul addressed believers at different points in their walk?

He addressed babes in Christ, who go from the milk of the word to the meat, he address carnal Christians, and he addressed more mature believers.

There should be changes as we mature and grow in Christ. As HE teaches us, and guides us, and instructs us and even corrects us! If Christ Jesus sets us free, we shall be free indeed. We are no-longer bound to sin, but purged and cleansed. Christ is faithful to finish the good work that HE has started in us.

John 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
John 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Romans 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

It's through obedience! believing the word! and doing it! Not of ourselves but with Christ JESUS. HE has overcome the world, and with HIM abiding in HIM, we are overcomers!

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Matthew 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Romans 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Romans 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Romans 6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Philippians 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
Philippians 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

We can't bypass scripture in favor of the ones that sound best to us.

2 Corinthians 1:18 But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay.
2 Corinthians 1:19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

I was just wondering if you could spot one before you witness them devouring a sheep?

What Bible verses would help?

Matthew 7
[SUP]15 [/SUP]“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. [SUP]16 [/SUP]You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? [SUP]17 [/SUP]Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. [SUP]18 [/SUP]A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. [SUP]20 [/SUP]Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

what are the thorns should we see?

What are the thistles?

What kind of bad fruit?
Isaiah 5:
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

Galatians 5:

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

What kind of good fruit?
Isaiah 1:

16Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

Matthew 3:

7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

Galatians 5:
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Hi Ariel82,
Here is a scripture I would like to add to your collection:

Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
The Jewish leaders of Jesus' day claimed that they walk in obedience to God's law, but actually obeyed the traditions of the elders. These traditions stripped God's word of its power and ability to work in the people's lives. It made keeping the law tedious and burdensome.
Luke 11:46 And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

The same thing happens today in denominations where the traditions of men are preached & taught which strips the Word of God of its power and strips the Christian of the ability to perform the works of God. Today's "traditions of the elders" are every bit as dangerous & those who teach/preach them are truly wolves in sheep's clothing

Peace be with you and this is how the HOLY SPIRIT reminds me from the Holy Scriptures about these things;
May GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST bless you with kindness and peace.
Thorns and thistles are relatively spoken of in the Holy Scriptures and the thorns are mentioned by CHRIST in HIS parables of the 'sower and the seeds';
"The plants that got choked up with 'thorn bushes' are the ones who live to the necessity and pleasures of this world. And their fruit 'never ripens'." (many Christians today are in this ground choked, their living standards equal with the unbeliever's and their love is conditional and their lifestyles proves to be an evidence in relation to the highlighted short comings of believers noted and written in the Living Truth)
As it is written; "A man is not justified by his possessions." ('In other words a man is justified when he losses his possession by giving and sharing with others who don't have.') "What if you gain the whole earth and yet lose your soul."
Thistles- may refer to the 'Pattern of this world" (It's characteristics and it's behaviors that our eyes and ears are witnesses to that contradicts the Holy Bible Teachings). Many of us fear that being different makes us a target to be ridiculed and alienated.
As it is written: "You fear because you have not learn to love." (lay down one's old carnal nature and worldliness and proceed in GOD's love)

Fruits - may represent an individual or a group's manifestations from within, it's speech and conducts;
1. Fruits of the flesh/carnality/self in a natural carnal man and women in this world and according to this world (Galatians 5;19-21).
2. Fruits of the HOLY SPIRIT in a Spiritually knowledge filled (sound doctrine), spirit man and women for the Kingdom of GOD in this world (Galatians 5;22,23).
All Honor, All Praise and All Glory be to our GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST forever and ever, Amen.

My thinking: If I don't see love or feel love in their teaching, they don't have anything to teach me about God.

We have the ministry of reconciliation, we are lead by peace, and it is His goodness and kindness that cause repentance. These are some of the foundational criteria that I follow when I'm listening to the Holy Spirit guide me on what revelation and people's teaching to consider.

Peace be with you, is when you hear them speak about only the good news in the Holy Bible, The rest is never highlighted for submission and order in the church Holy Scripturally. Also is when they speak contradicting to the Holy Scriptural Teachings of the New Covenant.
For example;
1. i hear a church Leader say, and may GOD forgive him, that this is our home. But the Holy Scripture say; "we are foreigners here on earth".
2. i hear a man of GOD say; 'Know the truth and the truth shall set you free.' But JESUS starts off with this; "If you abide in my Words.........................", first.
3. And many more.
If the Holy Spirit never teach me the Holy Bible, i would walk blindly today believing in whatever they say. What they say may seem not harmful to others but they differ from what the Holy Scripture quotes and it is the beginning of deceit planting.
JESUS was not wrong to say; "A thief only comes to rob, kill and destroy but i came to give life, life in it's fullest."
Please note the thief's gradual efforts to devour someone..
