There is only one baptism.

Everyone saved is baptised by the HS. Fire baptism is something we hope to be saved from. for it is the baptism into the fires of hell. As it says in the passage, where the fire shall never be quenched.

The gifts come from the annointing of the spirit. And everyone recieves at least one gift.

The closest thing is Baptism in the Spirit, which is a prayer that many (millions) of people have said for release of the spritual gifts. One could associate this with baptism of fire, since the release of the gifts feels like a fire of love in many people. The theological distinction would then need to be made that people receive the Holy Spirit at their initial salvation, but they do not let always let Him "do His thing" until the second event, and hence are not really "immersed in Him" until then. That matches experience, but is a theological nightmare for some denominations, which is why I'll stop talking now.

You do not not what you are speaking of, read the next verse...

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Mat 3:12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Yes. Only one fire mentioned in scripture which shall never be quenched.. In this fire we are told their will be weeping and nashing of teeth. This is where Christ baptizes all who do not believe into the lake of fire..

It has nothing to do with spiritual gifts!

Sometimes we disagree, but we are in lock step on this one.

I believe that all newly saved people receive Holy Spirit instantly and that they are also given their giftings at that time, sometimes entirely new and sometimes building on the talents and passions that they have had in their lives from God all along. :) I do believe that there is a baptism of Holy Spirit which results in tongues and the heavenly languages. Do you need tongues to have Holy Spirit and use the gifts? No. So, I believe therein lies the confusion sometimes.

For the record I was Baptized by the spirit of fire when I was saved. I begged God to come into my heart one night because I saw my life as worthless and had no reason to live. I was literally Bawling and begging him, I went to bed that night in tears saying to myself he won't answer me I wouldn't even answer me. I woke up that very morning full of the holy spirit, I felt the fire burning inside me full blast and danced around the room.

That was not being baptised by the HS and fire which caused that. That was the new life in Christ and the annointing (comming in) of the HS in you.

People need to stop trying to make something out of this which was never intended.

The HS baptism is what saves us, It is 1 cor 12, romans 6 and titus 3: 5 all wrapped into one. It is what cleanses us and makes us alive. It is what water baptism represents and symbolises. It is the spiritual baptism which we recieve from Christ.

Again. NO ONE wants to be baptised into fire.. this is hell!!

WOW you're carnal interpretation is way off base. You don't realize it, but the fire is figurative language and not to be taken literally. Jesus Christ is referred to as LIKE A FIRE, not is a fire. God is a consuming fire. he is not really a literal fire. He is as a fire. In other words his judgments which are always righteous purifies man as a real fire would purify what it burned. He is not a real fire and that figurative language "fire" is what saves man. The fire is Jesus Christ. It wont be today cuase I have much to do at home but tomorrow, as I will have more time, I will show you with scriptures.

The 2nd baptism where we are given spiritual gifts...
Our church speaks of this not as the 2nd baptism, but I suppose one could call it that/for baptism just means being immersed; rather we call this the second infusion of the Holy Spirit which is what we know as SANCTIFICATION.........

Now, the fire part is questionable........not gonna comment on that.........however every Christian should seek to be Sanctified by the Holy Spirit...........the Apostle Paul speaks of the need to be Sanctified...........

Now, SOME people are saved and sanctified at the same time, yet others may be saved, have their sins forgiven, and NOT be
Sanctified.............usually Sanctification requires one to have elders of the church gather around them and place hands on them and pray for the Holy Spirit to Sanctify the believer..........some instances of this are recorded in Acts........

You would be amazed at how many Christians are saved.............but know nothing about the need for Sanctification.

This is in my opinion predicting Jesus' death and resurrection... When he died and was resurrected we were given the Holy Ghost...

And with fire
This in my opinion is predicting Jesus' return... When I hear those words I think the book revelations says something almost exactly the same...

Also God said he would not gather up the wheat or uproot the weeds until the wheat is ripe .. Then he will send his angels to gather and sort the two... Which screams the book of revelations to me...

P.s. the meaning of baptism is to show the world you are willing to die from yourself and follow Christ... Why should we have to do another??? Baptism is a symbolic (necessary) act...

uh, well, yes and no I suppose............there is water baptism, the baptism of Jesus Christ referred to as blood baptism, and there is the baptism of the Holy Spirit.............now these can all occur at one time, OR NOT..............and yes the spiritual gifts are imparted by the Holy Spirit as He will.........we don't get to pick and choose which gift we want.........

.....the spirit of fire is not hell[endquote]
Blain you are right, the fire is not hell. In fact "hell" which is translated from the words sheol and hades only means the realm of the dead. Nothing goes on there except sleep until our resurrection. The dead know not anything. So if they were set on fire they wouldn't even know it. Again the dead know not anything. All thoughts perish at death.

Do they have faith ? And, I will show Him through them going, living, breathing, working. God does work through us IF we do not want to be worked through.

We should want to be 'worked through' because we are "His workmanship,' Ephesians 2:10 tells us :) Not so coincidentally, how we are to work, why we are to work is in the preceding verses of Eph. 2:10 ;we are to work by remembrance of God's grace and understanding of His faith given us, which we are to WORK THROUGH in letting Him lead our lives to a blessed way on Earth, to His way, because He is 'The Way,' and, that's the Truth. IF we do not work through Christ on Earth, who is the ONLY way to 'The Father (God) , then we cannot get to heaven.

since you, me, everybody CAN'T 'see' God on Earth, and, we can't see Jesus either, usually, unless God brings a divine experience upon you, then, you can , then, we, MOST who follow Him, are to work on FAITH, on seeing His work in our lifework , the substance of 'faith' is not a visible thing, never was , and, never wil be. It's a word , a noun with NO picture viewable to anyone, no understanding of another having been made a minister of 'fire' by God's baptism work shown, unless...

...that person has faith in God working that way through His Truth.

Wow, Your carnal religeous interpretation is not from God.

There is noting figurative about it. The Holy SPirit is a real thing. as is the fire..

Baptizo is a real verb.

if you people would learn what it really means, you would understand.

Never said we did .

Just want people to stop misinterpreting what baptism is. and making a mockery of the baptism of the spirit. Which cleanses us from all sin.

Baptism of fire is receiving the Holy Spirit, which every believer has.
Baptism of water is the symbol of it, showing that we buried the old man and resurrected with the new.

Baptism of fire = being born again
Baptism of water = physical sign of that baptism of fire
