I am really sorry if you don't believe in unconditional Election - the more I talk to atheists the more I am convinced of it - I wish you saw the arguments i had today!

There's no point in arguing it will only make the situation worse. I've learned to walk away when necessary :)

I go for hours with atheists as long as they will "consider" what im saying, I found "consedering" their argument as "possible" but then giving facts of why evolution, big bang, etc are impossible have been the most fruitful. If I just say NO NO thats studid, etc it works against them being open.

just my 2 cents.

Good posts - it's pretty crazy - like a wall - you try to be as non-emotional as possible - but it's like - wow and it just tells me, that my belief is not my doing but it's His ~ there by the grace of God, go I

My nephew is atheist so yes,I have conversations with him.I noticed before his announcing, he was atheist he had previously claimed to believe in God even attending church quite a while.I't seems as though anger was the real issue. He was blaming God for all his problems, and failures and then announces he does not believe in God anymore.

It sounds to me you have been talking to what they like to call themselves as "anti-theists"

If they call themselves anti -theists you know they are going to attack you regardless of what you say. I have however spoken to some atheists that were interested in having an intellectual debate.

I have to say, I never approach an atheist with the gospel, I let them come to me for the debate. I hate to spark a controversy, it's a waste of time, and could deter them further away from the gospel which is not good.

Most atheists on internet forums are there to attack, and it can get very childish, although saying that, I've noticed christian forums aren't that much better ! >.<

Good luck with your ministry :) :) Keep up with the good work!

I have been reading about how exorcist work with people who are demon possessed. The people who are demon possessed are extreme cases of being influenced by demons. The atheists we come in contact with are rarely possessed by demons, but they are influenced by them. We can learn about handling the influence of demons by learning how these people handle them.

Each exorcist agrees on one point, and that is that as men we cannot manage them, even in argument. It is only Christ who has dominion over them. When people learn to rebuke the influence of the demons who are against Christ, they need to use the power of Christ and truth.

Personally I would disagree. I have a fantastic life and I'm not suffering any emotional turmoil :)

I know for the sake of discussion people will falsely state that they are 'open' to the other persons viewpoints. But to be open to someone else's beliefs really means your not 100 percent convinced of your own. Sure it's polite to say it in conversation. But none of us really are 'open' to someone else's beliefs lol.

Hence the wall that both sides encounter.

That is very true IntoTheVoid. Very true.

Although it's true that people are not open to viewpoints. I would like to say I can hear other people's views so I can form a healthy debate. I don't like cutting people out if they say anything against the biblical doctrines, I like to hear their reasons and it can be a very interesting conversation at times.

It's good to be a good listener and I strive to be like that...although I do fail at times :(

Thanks for your post.

This goes into something we were discussing on another thread, but I disagree because I don't think a limited human being should ever be a hundred percent convinced of anything. We should always be generally open to reconsidering our position if and when new evidence is presented.

Job 21 and read Job 22
Why do the wicked live,

reach old age, and grow mighty in power?8 Their poffspring are established in their presence, and their descendants before their eyes.9 Their houses are qsafe from fear, and rno rod of God is upon them.10 Their bull breeds without fail;their cow calves and sdoes not miscarry.11 They send out their tlittle boys like a flock, and their children dance.12 They sing to uthe tambourine and vthe lyreand rejoice to the sound of vthe pipe.13 They wspend their days in prosperity, and in xpeace they go down to ySheol.14 They say to God, z‘Depart from us!We do not desire the knowledge of your ways.15 aWhat is the Almighty, that we should serve him?And what bprofit do we get if we pray to him?’16 Behold, is not their prosperity in their hand?cThe counsel of the wicked is far from me.17 “How often is it that dthe lamp of the wicked is put out? That their calamity comes upon them? That God1 distributes pains in his anger?18 That they are like estraw before the wind, and like fchaff that the storm carries away?19 You say, ‘God gstores up their iniquity for theirhchildren.’Let him pay it out to them, that they may iknow it.20 Let their own eyes see their destruction, and let them jdrink of the wrath of the Almighty.21 For what do they care for their houses after them, when kthe number of their months is cut off?22 lWill any teach God knowledge, seeing that he mjudges those who are on high?23 One dies in his full vigor, being wholly at ease and secure,24 his pails2 full of milkand nthe marrow of his bones moist.25 Another dies in obitterness of soul, never having tasted of prosperity.26 They plie down alike in the dust, and qthe worms cover them.27 “Behold, I know your thoughtsand your schemes to wrong me.28 For you say, r‘Where is the house of the prince?Where is sthe tent in which the wicked lived?’29 Have you not asked those who travel the roads,
and do you not accept their testimony30 that tthe evil man is spared in the day of calamity, that he is rescued in the day of wrath?31 Who declares his way uto his face,

They said to God, u‘Depart from us,’and v‘What can the Almighty do to us?’118 Yet he filled their houses with good things—
but wthe counsel of the wicked is far from me.

The wicked live without the knowledge of God, they say who is God, even though He does them good. Job also says that God delivers us in the affliction, by affliction - Unless the Holy Spirit moves in the heart of man - shouting through pain, we will not come to faith in Christ. Many, Christ bids them come, and they turn and say "No"

It's mercy and grace, that God opens the eyes, and saves someone - it drives me to fear for them, because they are so oblivious to their end. In my flesh I want to say good, they deserve it, when is the judgement coming. But the Spirit of God tells me He does not delight in the destruction of the wicked.

Some Atheists profess that they are not perfect.

In that case the only distinction between those atheists and christians is that although the atheist is admitting they are sinful, they chose not to believe in Christ and accept salvation.

There are plenty of atheists I know who accept they are sinful and struggle through daily lives trying to be better. They have a conscience that God provided for all.

We can choose not to follow our conscience even when we are saved, that is freewill.

To sum up-we are no better.
