My name is Joseph. I practice confessing my sins. This is my invitation to all of you to join me in this practice.

There isn't a law of God that I have not broken. James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. I certainly have stumbled and continue to stumble. My past sins include adultery and blasphemy and murder. Matthew 5:21 [SUP]21 [/SUP]“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ [SUP]22 [/SUP]But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. IN fact I was angry with a brother this week. Fortunately God showed me my sin and I confessed it and apologized. I have asked God to always reveal to me when I sin so that I can confess it and remain in the truth. I speak the truth when I say I am a liar. I have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. I still lie. Now the difference is when I do God convicts me of my sin and I confess it particularly to the person I lied to. I do not want to live in deception or darkness. I want to live in the light so all of my deeds have to be brought into the light. This is my example to you. I have confessed my sins before you all and I invite each of you to do the same in keeping with God's word.

We know from scripture confession is the beginning of our lives in Christ. It is written: Mark 1:5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. This is the first step God teaches us in practicing humility. IN fact, in the beginning I had difficulty confessing certain sins particularly lies. It is pride that makes it difficult for us to confess sin. The more pride we have the more difficult it is. When we commit ourselves to confessing our sins we are committing ourselves to the beginning of practicing humility.

Some people think we need only "confess" our sins to God. This is a false teaching. The very nature(definition of a confession) is to reveal, to tell or make known, to disclose. God is all knowing. He already knows our sins even before we do. We can not disclose or make anything known to God. 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. The word clearly teaches us a Good confession is made in front of many witnesses.

Not sure I could remember every sin I have committed either Brother_Don. When I pray, I simply ask God's forgiveness for the sins I know of and even the sins that I do not even realize I have even take part it. I think that covers me. In Jesus name... Amen!

Not long after I turned my life over to God when I was 23 I began listening to KILA Christian radio out of Las Vegas which is where I lived. (the station still exists today and can be found online @ http://www.sosradio.net/ )I remember hearing someone talking about asking God what we could do for him. This seemed wise to me so I began doing it. I knew very little of scripture yet God led me directly to confession. He pointed out three things in my life, lust, lies and suicidal thinking and told me to confess these things to everyone I had lied to. The lust and suicidal thinking were fairly easy but when it came to confessing all my lies, well this was incredibly difficult as I had been a habitual liar.

I wanted to obey God so I asked God to force me to confess my lies. Don't do this unless you are desperate. Within a week of this prayer, my fiancé of three years broke up with me, I lost my job, wrecked my car and was evicted from my apartment. Essentially God took from me things that mattered greatly to me and reduced my life and my pride. You see it was only pride that was stopping me from confessing. I didn't know it at the time but I actually was saying to God, I can not humble myself please humble me. God is true to His word and HE does bring down the proud, especially if we ask Him to. God knows that hurt me to the core but it also made it easy to confess all my lies. They hardly seemed to matter anymore compared to my recent losses.

I am 50 now. God has taught me so much over the past 27 years about the importance of confession and the power that comes through confession and my desperate need to practice it. I will continue in another post for those who care to know what God has taught me.

While I certainly agree that confession/repentance is necessary and a Biblical Teaching, not sure we are humanly able to kneel down and confess word for word our transgressions.......

I thank God for His gift of Grace........Praise Him!

Hebrews 8:10) For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 .) And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 .) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

2nd Corinthians 5:17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 .) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 .) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 .) Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 .) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Isaiah 43:25) I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

A few years a go I wanted to be filled with the LORD and follow him, So I asked him to consume me. This led to one of the most difficult times of my life. There became so much confusion in my life I was afraid to move. When I finely did move I made the wrong choice. Talk about being striped down to nothing. let me just tell you, If you don't want to walk through fire becareful what you pray for and how you walk.

As I looked at the letter shin that day and knew that it stood for a consuming fire that I knew would cause great change in my life. It was the great pain that I suffered that I was not expecting. To this day my heart, mind and spirit are still trying to process it. At my darkest moment when I had run out of all hope and lost all understanding. I heard the LORD say you don't have to do this. It was like a light came on and I found the strength to move forward in my life.

Sadly I sin everyday, even in my thoughts. so I constantly need the lords love and grace.

Is this thread inspired by James 5:16?
That says to confess our faults one to another.
Doesn't say we are to enumerate our sins to the world.

I don't want to know what you did.
That does neither of us any good.
I have my own struggles and weaknesses,
and it's none of yours or anybody else's business what they are.

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Yahweh is so merciful!

To what purpose do you make this confession of your sins? What does it accomplish? And what will the results be if you don't confess.
I'm not trying to be critical, just curious.

In my church (eastern orthodox church), in order to receive the Saint Eucharist (Saint Blood and Saint Body of Jesus Christ), we must prepare ourselves: we fast and pray and we must confess our sins to a priest through the Holy Mystery (or sacrament) of Confession. After I confess my sins, I receive the blessing to partake the Saint Eucharist.

That is what is know as "bondage".
Your "priest" has no power to administer or withhold anything except what you grant him.
Your religion is much older than you even know. It has merely changed names.

Forgive me ma'am, I mean no offense, but I haven't a clue as to what you are talking about. I'm not a Catholic and I don't know much about that religion. So, what you are saying is just gibberish to me.
What I want to know is if it is for the purpose of keeping ones salvation, for forgiveness only, to remove a curse, or what?

St John 20, 22-23: And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them "Receive the Holy Spirit, if you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld".
You know this scripture applies to you too, don't you?

If I don`t confess my sins I can`t partake the Saint Eucharist, if I don`t partake the Saint Eucharist I am not in comunion with God, if I am not in comunion with God I miss the sense of my life. Satisfied?:)

Your so-called "priest" is not an Apostle. They are all dead.
