Well, there are two ways I know of for witnessing (there are more ways too, but these are what I use)

1) face to face evangelism.. through walking up to people with a survey about life.. that leads in to a gospel tract presentation if they are interested..

this way is pretty hard.. it isn't door to door knocking.. it is approaching people like in the city square sitting on park benches or sitting on the grass...

this way .. alot of people say yes to doing the survey.. but not many want to hear what Jesus said life was for.. and fewer still want to pray to receive Christ... but it is a method.. and can be very fruitful..

2) Setting up a table offering drinks without charge to the public in return for doing the same kind of survey and tract.. this involves having chairs set up for the person who is asking the questions from teh survey.. and a chair for the recipient.. we have around 6-8 chairs, so we can do 3 or 4 people at once.

This method is very effective.. because you are waiting for people to come to you.. not approaching them.. and hence most people who come.. have time to do the survey and are interested. My church has seen ALOT of people make professions of faith through this method.. God has really used it well.

The other methods.. and there are many you can find out thru the internet or organisations like Campus Crusade for Christ.. Youth With a Mission.. Youth 4 Christ.. etc.. or local churches that are evangelical..

so that is my two cents

Going door to door, and asking if someone has a church home, if they do, you can say "But more important than going to church, is knowing that your sins are forgiven and that you have eternal life" if not, tell them about your church, or ask them a question and use it as a bridge. I can give you some more examples, but I won't go into it all here. If you wanna know, send me a message or something.

Alot of people don't read tracts, so their probably not the best way to evangelize. I have heard a few stories of people getting saved after reading one, but it's not too frequent. Face to face interaction via the spoken word is the way to do it, and it's the way the Apostles and what not did it.

I have tried street witnessing on my campus, just asking them questions that strike up a conversation.....Something like "what do you think happens after you die?".......You can also LEAD a conversation to talk about the eternal very easily.....The point about witnessing that must be made is that we are to present the gospel with LOVE and GENTLENESS.......Many people feel like they are just another "project" to us Christians though .......I do not act condescending to anyone I meet....I show them and tell them that I care for them. Sometimes you will only get as far as saying that they need to start thinking about the eternal.....Plant a seed.....Sometimes I meet people who dont even believe in God! So the gospel message makes no sense to them in that case....Which is why I "feel" them out and ask God to reveal to me where I should begin.......It is not some step-by-step formula you use on people!

MANY people that I have met were very interested in what I had to say! And also, some were surprised because they only knew Christians as snobs and self-righteous.....It was rare that some met a Christian that was gentle and full of love.......

Also, there will always be those that are closed and become confrontational when presenting the gospel! There will be people that will get offended! Jesus offended many people in His ministry, and he witnessed the PERFECT way! That was because He exposed their sin and confronted their cultural norm...

The Apostles went out in twos and that would be a good idea to suggest......Also, one must LIVE their own life that shows Jesus! You are probably more a witness in how you live, than striking up gospel conversations.....Although it is IMPERATIVE that we share our faith!

It is the Holy Spirit that convicts one of their sin....No amount of arguing or arm wrestling will change one's mind...Only by the conviction through the Holy Spirit.....Remember, we are TOOLS used by God to show them the Truth.....And whenever you share the gospel it is NOT a prosperity gospel! It is using the law to show them their sin!!! That is the KEY to evangelism......

"What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, "You shall not covet." -Romans 7:7-9

I think the lifestyle gospel is faulty, because there are alot of moral people who'll end up in hell. Mormons live good lives and most would think they're Christians, but, they're not. Jesus Christ needs to be preached. "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God"

yeah Baptist.....I may have worded that poorly, but those around us need to see the gospel living inside of us as well as preaching the gospel.....Preaching the gospel is the most important, and is more powerful than just morally living out our faith......You see, James talks a lot about faith producing good works(we are saved by faith alone in Christ Jesus though). But having good works and not sharing ones faith IS very faulty because many have this idea that "they are morally good".....And that they are "good enough" to get to heaven.........Nothing could be further from the truth! Thanks for pointing that out Baptist!!!=)

Baptistrw...you are right about tracts being somewhat ineffective..they are a tool and yes, people need the preached Word...
The early Christians...esp the apostles...won their friends and family first....If we would get back to that we would see some differences in out burden for souls. It is hard reaching family, but our burden must be there...for souls...who have only one chance of heaven..you could be someone's only witness...use every opportunity to tel others the Good News!!!

well, i would love to share. first, i would pray and ask God to direct your path and steps. also i like what merrheart was saying. I follow also the example of jesus bye sending out His disciples in two's. If you are going to go out, don't go alone. Though there were times when i did, but its better to have another person with you.
Mar 6:7And He called the twelve to [Himself], and began to send them out two [by] two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.
Mar 11:1Now when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage* and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciplesLuk 10:1After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also,* and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.im showing you these verses for a reason. Because this is how Jesus did it, so He is our greatist example, and it is wise for us to follow after Him and what He did.
In the past, i have used gospels of john, you can always have them handy, also as well as new believers bibles in your car, you never know when God may be calling you. Because everywhere you go, is a ministry opprotunity, the store, gas station, donut shop, homless, neighbors, so many places, the mall. Just be sensative to God's leading and His holy spirit. Ask and prayer for discernment, and what the most effective way for you to share the gospel would be. Sister, maybe at a locole park. Maybe ask a friend to go with you, and do some witnessing. Basball games during basball season, there are many places and recorses. the bottome line, you want to be used by God, amen, thats wonderful! And God see's and knows a willing heart. The thing is , God does not need us, but will use us, because HE takes delight in us and likes to give us good gifts sister. Amen and praise God. And i hope you blessed on your journey. I like to go up to people and say, hi im so and so, are you from here, or just start up a topic. invite that person to church, give them a bulliton from your church, or say hi, im ... can i give you a gift, or can i give you a small book, its the gospel of john. if you than want to share about your salvation in christ, now would be a good time to do so. Most important, pray first, as with any mission, and ask God to give you words, and wisdome in how to approach and speak. People are differant, differant characters, all sorts. some are broken hearted, others just need some prayer, or maybe even have fallen away. You don't know unless you ask. Somtimes in the past i would just say, i have somthing for you. and give a gospel of john, and maybe right a note in it. You never know sister. God works through others so much. Be patient and ask God to show you, and i belive He will. Also in your neighborhood as well. If your going door to door be carfull and remember discerning, i would take a brother in christ as a group for that. But just use good judgment. God bless you, and may He give you peace that passes all understandin and wisdome.
and don't worry, God will fill you and give you the words to speak. amen.
Jam 1:5If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Alot of times you witness to ppl thru your own without even knowin, they watch what you do, listen to what you say, without you even realizing it, ( especially if your christian), they just watch how you live your life, the examples you set. Maybe then, the questions start, just remember...love, love, love...did i mention love?....hahahahaha.

welll.....me I'm also thinking about it too....

sometimes when I see my friend alone....I started talking with her....then after a few conversations.....
I started talking about love of God....then we will talk more about it...if he/she reacts or if he/she doesn't like the words I am talking about
sometimes he/she just want to go away....

I think you must pray if you see someone that you want to talk with about God.....
cuz without prayer....others would really liked to have debate with me....
and I dont like debate...the best thing to do is pray always to every people you meet..... before talking to them about God

yea, noahsmom is right i agree with the love, and living by example especailly with family, and you can pray for God to open those doors of time to speak. Even so, God will make it happen on His own time, with you or another. And somtime, God will put us at the right place at the right time, and we may not even know it, but can give words to people.

Living a life worthy of the calling gives our presentation credibility. A hypocritical life destroys the credibility.

However, the gospel is a message to be told in order to develop faith. "Faith comes by hearing..."

Most of us have sufficient contacts so as never to need to do cold doorknocking.
