Grace like rain, has the right way for change, be bold and state a small truth and ask God to bless. One small truth
I teach is: God's grace is more than undeserved favor, it is also God's power to convert the sinner into a saint in one transforming act of spiritual new birth. To many 'chritians" are fony balonie. Hoffco

I only made to page 2 but the ignorance and rudeness of some of the other male posters on this thread is appalling. The video isn't saying "all men are rapists' or simply 'Don't rape' . Its about treating women as people and trying to combat a rape culture. Which means oh your with your frineds watching football and the quarterback gets sacked and someone goes He just got raped...simply speak and tell them thats not cool.
Are we supporting a death culture when we use computers?

-> kill(1): terminate process - Linux man page

kill(1) - Linux man page

Name
kill - terminate a process

Synopsis
kill [-s signal|-p] [--] pid...
kill -l [signal]

Description
The command kill sends the specified signal to the specified process or process group. If no signal is specified, the TERM signal is sent. The TERM signal will kill processes which do not catch this signal. For other processes, it may be necessary to use the KILL (9) signal, since this signal cannot be caught.

Most modern shells have a builtin kill function, with a usage rather similar to that of the command described here. The '-a' and '-p' options, and the possibility to specify pids by command name is a local extension.

If sig is 0, then no signal is sent, but error checking is still performed.

It falls flat on it's face at 20 seconds. It takes some of the number one risk factors for rape and dismisses them, immediately saying that a mens' issue. Ever watch Life time? That's supposed to be a channel targeted at women, and do you know what, there's a awful lot of rape on Life time. Men aren't the only ones perpetuating the culture of violence.

I'm all for the cause of preventing rape and domestic violence, but don't dismiss the risk factors, you're putting women at risk at the same time you're trying to help.
You are so focused on the details you're missing the point. The. Video. Isn't. For. Women. Its not discussing those issues because that is not the point behind the video. That is an entirely different video. Plain and simple and very obvious to anyone not looking to be offended, 'guys, lets speak up about this'. How difficult is that to understand? Of course he didn't discuss all these details you're complaining about. Because that's not the aim of the video. The video, once again, was aimed at one demographic. And it was just meant as a way to get guys to think. Its not about the details. Its not about giving lessons or covering all the points. Its a short Youtube video encouraging guys to think about what they say. Simple.
And, no one said it was only men. But the point of the video is aimed at men.
No one dismissed anything, it simply was not the intent and message of the video. God, i feel like a broken record. Such a simple basic message being degraded because its not complicated enough, and therefore not valid?

@Misty77, I would agree with you in this if a reminder were necessary, but saying that a "reminder" is harmless, to men who mostly don't need a reminder, is similar to the following example...

There are two groups of people. One group is always slamming their hand in the door, causing pain and damage (rapists). The other group never exhibits this behavior (non-rapists), and, observing the group that does, the second group vows to never exhibit that behavior. Now tell me, which group is it that needs this message? It may be "harmless", but it is addressing the wrong crowd. It's kind of like "reminding" the color red to stay red; it's harmless, but it is also unnecessary, and may be a waste of valuable time and energy.
Your analogy is flawed. Rapists aren't just hurting themselves, are they? They are hurting others. No one is blaming the other men, but as Edmund Burke said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

I'm so tired of the whole, "Be afraid! There is a rapist around every corner" And all these statistics... well, i'm not gonna go there.

I think it's great if men want to stand up and help women out with this, but women screaming and shouting about it is just getting so...... old.

Misty i get it. Being raped sucks. However, we can't depend on men to stop this. I think in our declining culture, sure make people aware, but also stand up for ourselves and protect ourselves.
Blaming police and going on and on about never being able to trust this or that person is just hurting yourself even more. You can't play the victim your whole life. How long will you let one event control your life.
Honestly there are worse things that could happen.

The obstinate replies of some of the members on this thread are very discouraging. This topic is divisive. I will disengage before I say what I'm really thinking. Christ shine your light on your children that they may have unity in your name.

As I decide to stop reading the thread, I cannot help but one more time note that the people you're speaking to are probably not doing nothing and that, probably completely accidentally, you're again taking an unnecessary stab at the few who bother to listen.

It's not dismissive. Regardless what safeguards a woman ignored, she does not deserve to be raped. She did not rape herself. And I have already said that we are addressing those issues, we just don't do them in front of men because of responses like this. We have those conversations in the women's forum where we feel safe and are free to have open dialogue without having to worry about a man getting his britches in a bunch.

What possible hidden knowledge is there in the discussion of rape prevention? Why would you hide that from the women who have just joined and are ineligible to enter the women's forum?

I don't like seeing women abused any more than you do, but I think this man is giving bad advice. It doesn't matter that a woman doesn't deserve to be abused, what matters is preventing it at any and all costs.

Life isn't fair. Never has been and never will be until Christ returns.

Hi Rachel20,

Wow sister, that is a POWERFUL video you posted! It says SO MUCH! Thank you for posting it.

Blessings,

"Doggy"

Hey everyone.

Firstly, the video is interesting though I don't understand why it has to be polarizing. (seeing reactions etc)

It's just asking men to not promote and support a culture which makes rape like a simple word.

It's not the fault of all men. The world seems to be moving in that direction. What was once taboo is something which can be easily bandied around, so the shock factor is non existant. Both men and women are evil.

Also, if you notice a culture difference, apologies in advance , but here's a video from India which is about victim blaming. If you get offended, please note that is specific to India. :) Peace.

Hi SanPedro,

I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you.

Nobody, including yourself, NOBODY deserves to have that happen to them, nor what happened to them.

Bless your heart brother.

Blessings,

"Doggy"

13 years ago, my friend's girlfriend slashed my face with her keys while she was intoxicated, simply because she "Didn't like the way I looked at her" (I never even saw her before I saw my own blood flowing from her attack, let alone give her any "look"). When the police showed up (I called them), they tried to arrest me, the "Man", and when I and witnesses explained the truth of the situation, the police said to me... "Come on guy, you're a "Man", suck it up!" The police never arrested her, and told me to leave where the party was (Holiday party). How sad, sad, sad it is that "Men" have become the victims of gender bias. Wouldn't it be better to consider the current situation, and the current parties involved (both male and female), rather than walking in the room with the preconceived notion, and a determination to accuse a man, simply because he is a "Man".

"like gender violence isn't a man's issue like men can help themselves like the responsibility for one's own actions doesn't fall on one's own shoulders like men don't have the power to change how men act."

"this culture of violence touches us all by dismissing perpetrators as monsters."

"(men) We are responsible for the vast majority of Violence."

(Paraphrasing), He sees a patch on someone's jacket and it leaves a bad taste in his mouth, therefore Rape Culture.

So just using his own words, we can see the broad strokes. Painting us all as Men, accountable and responsible for violence, "Men like me", perpetrate rape. He's putting collective responsibility and guilt on men.

This is hate speech, plain and simple. You can't blame a whole group for something that a small percentage of them do.

MEN DON'T RAPE. PSYCHOPATHS RAPE.

And somehow I'm the bad guy because I don't cave to the guilt mongering or shaming tactics.

So then what's the answer, wear a T-shirt with stop rape on the front?

Cause you know, sometimes I forget not to rape. Thanks YouTube guy for reminding me that as a man I am inherently the source of Violence and Rape in the universe "Men like me" not monsters, who don't call a wife beater a A cut shirt.

This is really interesting to see how people reacted when the woman was hitting the man. The other woman cheering her on was disturbing.

I am not sure what I would do. I might say stop. But I really don't know. Maybe call 911.

1 out of 3 makes it an incredibly likely statistic. I'm not crying victim, but I am warning others that there is danger. Using my own story proves that it is real.

Yes there are worse things physically that could happen, but you are very blessed to be unaware of how deep those emotional and psychological wounds are. I have survived, and I am stronger. I speak out because I don't want anyone else to have to walk this same path as me.

This has never been anti-male. You are creating a straw man that you keep fighting against, which is a silencing technique. Why do you keep protesting so much?

I never blamed you. The only reason I shared this video is to let good men know that there is a way they can help.

"stop sex jokes" as a method of "rape prevention"

But they're ONLY jokes......

So, you're saying that I should not braid my hair, wear gold accessories, or put on clothes. Ok, got it!
