People have many beliefs about what the Spirit is saying when He speaks through you in toungues. The truth is that be can say whatever He wants. You can understand that the Spirit dwells in Christians right? So why couldn't He speak? Since He is there it makes more sense for Him to speak and do things then to lay dormant and be bottled up why you do all the speaking.

Oh dear.

Yes there is a lot of fakery a lot of demonic spirits fooling Christians in this, but that does not mean everyone who speaks in tongues like myself are demon possessed and do not have the Holy Spirit.

Are you saying I am possessed with a demon?

I have been baptized in the Holy Spirit. I am not ashamed of sharing my
experience of speaking in tongues. I personally pray in the spirit with my
prayer language when I do not know how to pray for someone. Often times
just praising in the Spirit (tongues) can be awesome experience.

When one is in a Church that has the gifts in operation, it is, in my opinion,
something I would question if it is expected every week. I believe it is sacred
when God speaks through a person, and the interpreter should also be a person
of known integrity and true relationship with the Lord.

Today is a day of deception and so many seem to be focused so on this
manifestation that it is forced. I know I have been there. The Church
that tongues and interpretation is expected.

I have not given message in tongues, but have had the Lord show me
something in the spirit through Worship and I have spoken it in English.
But that is more like Word of Knowledge.

I think the OP is thinking of a Pastor giving the sermon in tongues and
asking if someone is there to interpret it. I have never heard of this
happening before, has anyone else ?

It is a day of deception and it appears the flesh is more subject to
want to be known as a great Christian with the gift.

I was put in a situation once where the Pastor had a lady come up
to prophesy over people. So a line formed. He asked me to come up
and I did not want to do it. I was not told by God nor did I feel
the anointing to do it. So I obeyed and stood behind them. Then
God did show me something for the person, just a little encouraging
word, and I followed the person toward their seat and shared what
the Lord had shown me. It was not for everyone. But my really
bad experience I have never gotten over .... the very last man was
in line and as he stood waiting his turn, I was shown he doubted himself
as being a good father. He gets prayed over, and I did the unthinkable.
Because he was last, I spoke it out. A strange look came over him.
I came home and all I could see was that look. The word was encouraging.
The Lord was telling him he doubted and not to doubt because he was
really a good father.

That tormented me so much. I tried to call their home. I needed to see
if that really upset him as I felt in my spirit it did. I could get no answer
I tried for like 5 days. Finally, I reached his wife and told her my concern.
I cried every day after that Sunday, and was began crying when I asked
her did I upset her husband.

She said, 'you know, on Tues. evening he asked her, do you think I am a
bad father?' And of course she said no. I sobbed and sobbed, and told her
it was not meant to be a put down, but encouraging him he is a good father.

She then told me he had a very bad relationship with his home life and explained
some things. I knew then.... I did hear from God. He (the man ) was in his
hidden subconscious he was determined to be a better father than what he had.

So, I say all that to say it is good if it is God calling us to do it. I did not
want to go back to the Church again. But I liked the Pastor and people. Yet
I have out grown the hoopla of wild worship and prophecies given all the time.
I have come from Methodist and Baptist, back ground as young person then
left the Methodist church for the Full Gospel / Charismatic movement back
in the early 70's. I have learned not to go by feeling. But by faith. I have
learned to ask God for discernment before I act. Even on here, I often
see something and seek God for that person who has a prayer request or
topic. I do not want to be false in anything I do. We are not all going to
agree, and I am learning that too.

I am sorry for getting off track here. But it sort of brought back memories.
I did have one experience that was positively awesome. I was shaking in
my shoes. It was my main Church, full gospel, and during Worship the
Lord impressed on me that there was someone there who was feeling like
they were hanging on by a thread and about to let go. He was encouraging
the young man to hold on because the Lord hears sees his situation.
I waited all through the service and tested the spirit.. it would not leave
me ... I had to give it. As they were getting ready to close out, I spoke
up from where I was sitting .. what the Lord showed me. Oh how scary.
My first time.. So unsure. But we have to step out in faith when it is so
impressed into your spirit.

Okay I get a call when I got home from Church. A lady neighbor of the
young man, said I thought you would like to know, (leaving him nameless)
was the man God was speaking too. That young man and wife ended up
becoming missionaries. They served a long time in another Country. They
are back now in U.S. I have never spoken to him about that night.
AS I said we want to be used by God, but must be very careful and
try the spirit. Amen ~ J~ K~ 2

8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 cor 13

the immature person is the person who thinks everyone has to prophecy or speak in tongues. Knowledge, Tounges, prophecy - all cease when the Perfect(Jesus) comes.

Paul writes the whole letter in a way, that he acknowledges all the gifts of the Spirit, but does not want people to think of themselves more highly or lowly because of the gift they have - which all of us do sadly.

The mature, loves, even the person who is misguided to think that there are no spiritual gifts, to the person convinced that everyone has to speak in tongues.

Don't think like a child, mature and encourage others to follow

I would want to separate myself from these people as much as is possible. I simply do not understand the desire to act like the devil has a hold on you. Paul said: "If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?"

God doesn't want people to think you are mad, why would anyone else want to go against the will of God?

Thanks for posting that, Phil.

This is the biggest fake since Oral Roberts claimed to heal people. Anybody can go on youtube and mumble a bunch of babblings. Tongues were speaking in an actual language that you had not previously known, not something like this woman was doing.

Jesus never told his disciples to speak a bunch of "mumbo jumbo". He told us how to pray. Sounds like one of many doctrines of demons."But be ON GUARD, I have told you ALL THINGS beforehand." Mark 13:23, see also John 4:25-26Nothing left to reveal since Jesus has already told us everything.

tongues ia a demonic hoax and all you have to do is admit it and pray to JEsus to keep them away from you
and read your Bible and give your heart to JEsus in noble life instead of silly foolish religions like this.
amen praise the Lord
Blessed be the Lord
Wait a minute!! Don't be calling my dear friend who tells me that often, when she is praising the Lord, it comes out in tongues, and you judge my friend for this!! "Demonic hoax"!! That is a TERRIBLE thing to say about Mary. She is only a servant of the Lord.

People seem to be scared of the power and gifts of Holy Spirit to point where anything superntural or of the spirit is instantly from Satan. Rather same stance that placing an organ in a church is the work of Satan.

I heard a testimony from a Christian who used to be a high priestess in witchcraft and occult, she spent most of her life honing her spiritual awareness through various means and achieved a state that only a few have obtained. She said she knew the homes of Christians and who was a Christian as she saw this spiritual power emitting from them and their homes, she knew it was stronger than anything she knew and stayed clear.

When she became a Christian she understood that this power was from Holy Spirit, she knew that this power was at her disposal and knew Holy SPirit would let her use it when needed for the right situations, just as she used the demonic spiritual powers at her disposal as a high priestess.

She went on to say how sad and dismayed she was that people would then reject the power of the Holy Spirit and how anything they saw was treated as suspicious.

Does Satan want Christians to know the full extent as to what is availble to them through the Holy Spirit? No of course not. What better then to come out with lies that things such as tongues are 100% evil and nothing to do with Holy Spirit. We see this in above videos and previous posts.

Christians who do accept these things, well what can Satan do about that? SIMPLES! trick people into accepting and being influenced by demonic spirits, again we see this in some of the videos posted above, total abuse and mis-use of this gift and ability.

Obviously then how many people are going to be reluctant to ask for these things and act upon them?

I had no idea I had been baptised by the Holy Spirit, I thought I never had been, it wasn't until a few years ago I was at a weekend long seminar on Gifts of Holy Spirit run by my church, I had to be there to work the laptop and look after the recording of the weekend. I thought I have never been baptised by HOly SPirit, we had a section which dealt with reasons why people are sometimes not baptised by Holy Spirit, at end I stood up to be one of the handful of people who felt they had not, having gone through all the prayers dealing with soul ties, generational curses and so on.

Come time to sit down, everything went black for a few seconds, I was then shown an event which happened in my late teens when I took communion for the first time, I had this rush it was like standing under a shower everthing turned bright for a few seconds, made my hairs stand on end I felt amazingly good, I forgot about that moment and when it happened I just thought it was something spiritual, but had no idea what. I then knew what it was! I felt kind of cheated that I did not know this, had I know it then maybe I would have taken a different path.

However I ended up speaking to the chap running the seminar and told him, He asked had I tried speaking in tongues I said no never, so he just put his hand on my head and told me to do it.

I looked at him like a rabbit caught in headlights, I said "Really?" I have no idea how this is going to work or what to do, sure I heard others saying things, but I had no idea how this would work.

Eventually I just began to speak, I had no idea what was going to come out, I made sounds similar to what I heard , in back of my mind I am thinking, "is this really Holy Spirit at work or is it just me subconsciously making noises that I have heard, I was encouraged to continue and as time ticked on I became more confident, the words just flew out. After a few minutes I was told I had a strange accent! He said it was unusual but most definitely 100% from Holy Spirit! should point out that the chap in question had this gifting of teaching about gifts and discernment of them and discernment over things being from God or Satan.

I still think its rather strange how it works, I have no idea what is going to come out sound wise, but then I look at it in the following way. When we speak fluently in our own langauge going full flow in conversation with someone, are we aware of what each word is going to be before it comes out of our mouth? No, subconsciously the brain knows, if we slowed everything down then yes we could be aware of each word in a fluid conversation before it comes out of our mouths, but ranting on full speed about something, we are not aware of each word that is queued up in our minds ready to come out.

If someone is fluent in more than one langauge, the same applies, there maybe a slight concious adjustment to tell the brain that langauge is being switched to another one, but then speaking at full pace we have no idea of the next words forming until they are literly on our lips. Children who are bi-lingual even mix the two langauges up without knowing.

So it is when talking in tongues, When I am prompted to do so, such as pray over a situation or person, or I just want to singing some praise in tongues or whatever, I just say ok I am going to speak in toungues, then instead of the words being placed in the subconscious of the brain from my own soul and spirit, they are placed there by the Holy Spirit.

Just to clear this up a bit more, If you are excited over an event, you just got a new job or something, you know that you are going to tell people about this event, but you do not plan out how you are going to tell them or what you are going to say, it just comes out.

Same with people playing improvised on their instrument, just get in a little special place and play, often what comes out takes people by surprise they never thought about it, it just happened.

That is how it is with tongues as a prayer/ praise thing, I just want to talk in it so I do, but it is Holy Spirit who comes up with the stuff, not my own spirit.

To state that all tongues are Satanic is ridiculous; the Apostles gave guidelines for speaking in tongues.
To invent a doctrine that the spiritual giftings spoken of in the epistles ended with the completion of the cannon of scriptures is hard to believe. The Epistle to the Corintians was one of the later books written in the New Testament cannon and, if spiritual giftings such as tongues have ceased upon the completion of the scriptural cannon, the entire discussion about spiritual giftings in I Corinthians was relevant for only a few years, not even one generation. Why would God include words in the eternal scripture that covered a situation that would not even last one generation? What do we do with that discussion today?
There are natural gifts, and there are spiritual gifts. Many who have no relationship with the Holy Spirit have a natural gifting for teaching, for hospitality, etc. Yet there are also spiritual giftings. Understanding the natural helps as a starting point for understanding the spiritual.

Allow me to define tongues as communication that follows no known rules of grammar. If you can accept that definition, you will concede that we all speak tongues naturally, some more than others. Go to a sporting event. Without looking at the field, you can get an interpretation of the last play listening to the noise of the crowd - even though no one is describing the play. The person who can more accurately dsxribe the play has a natural gift for interpretation of tongues. Does the "oh, oh, oh ayyye yaaaaaaaaa!" from the guy next to you describe a quarterback sack or a touchdown? Any one could tell the difference, even without the gift of interpretation. Speaking in tongues is natural. But listen - we would never think to declare that people who don't do it (or do less of it) are not as fanatical as those who do. Some people speak utterances that defy the rules of grammar, some people paint their faces in team colors. Let not him who paints his face look down on him who shouts wildly. This is all quite natural
We were born with one character - completely corrupt and unable to please God. At the moment of regeneration, we receive a new character - the Holy Spirit indwells us, we have the mind of Christ. Yet God does not take away our old character. Now we have two hearts, one man to be "put off" and the new man to "put on". That new character, regenerated by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, is the righteousness of Christ in us. Sometimes we fail t distinguish the difference, We wonder if a particular thought or attitude comes from the old nature, or the new nature. Just as some can not keep quiet naturally when seeing the opponent's quarterback go down, some can not be quiet when they perceive the new nature inside of themselves. There is an excitement that describes, that praises the glory. The new nature has the mind of Christ. There can be communication that equals and surpasses human knowledge. There are no rules of grammar - but there is glory, there is content. This is the spiritual gift of tongues.

Now I'll tell my experiance with speaking in tongues......I was a new christian and my friend who was.learned in the
Scripture had asked me if I wanted to try...we sat on her bed .....her son who was twelve and my six year old daughter
were there....we prayed ....then I just started speaking ....I speak no other language but english ...that was amazing
enough ...but what was truly amazing was her son interpreted...he spoke clearly and like a grown person...
It was a beautiful message.....kind and loving.....i could hear the child talking and I even heard myself talking at
the same time ...but it felt like the words went straight through my heart and not my ears...if you know what I mean.....
Can you also kindly share the 'content' of your 'speech' that your friend's son interpreted while you were speaking in tongues i.e. if you can still remember it? Thanks!

Thank you so much for sharing the 'content' of your experience. I was actually looking for this ^ kind of personal experience sharing (of content) which nobody seems to be addressing or responding to. Just one more question, when you spoke (in tongues), did you speak out in foreign language?

PS: Although I appreciate all the responses, I am not looking for scriptural passages or theological view on it as that is not the intention of the OP. Rather, I am more interested in simply knowing the 'content' of the 'speech' (when one speaks in tongues) like the one shared by the poser Jay-K-2.

I don't think of my tongue as a per-occurrence phenomenon. It's really our native language and most all of my verbal prayer is in it. Now, here's an experience I had that I prayed over in my tongue:

My friend Vicki is spiritually very strong and sensitive, even more than she knows. I knew from what she is involved with (heavily into Kabala) that the ‘darkies’ (I don’t like the word demons because there’s so much misinformation and mis-guided thought about them) were present around her. The first time I went to visit her they kept their distance while we chatted. But the moment I stepped out her door, two of them escorted me down the hall, down the stairs, into the street to my car, and watched me drive away. Plain as day, they don't even try to hide from me anymore because they know God's made me wise to them.

When I prayed for her (and I mostly pray in the Spirit), I often got this visual impression where it's night time, and I'm elevated like up in a tree to where I can see across the rooftops. Off a mile or so is her apartment building. Buildings usually give off some ambient light, but the light from her building was much brighter than the surroundings. Bright enough that it shines up upon the bottom of what at first looks to be some very dark tumultuous clouds. But looking closer, I can see it is instead a thick black swirling cloud of dark spirits. They're like a ginormous nasty swarm of mosquitoes, just looking for way in to draw blood, being held back solely by the light.

So one night I'm praying for her, and it’s concerted prayer; the swarm is thick and heavy and really agitated - pressing in to the point where they were smothering out the light. I got a sense of real urgency, that something really bad was happening. So in the Name of Jesus I travailed in prayer to bind and silence and swat at a few of them. But I was just one man against a swarm, definitely outnumbered. So I commanded angels to fight and occupy the enemy; and I saw angels start charging into the darkness. And then I command more of them to move in and get her out and to a place of safety. And I see more of them rush off into the scene. And so that is how I fight, in the Spirit of God claiming the Authority of Christ to bind and silence the darkies; and commanding the angelic host to go and do battle and occupy the them while others get in and get her out. And I'm watching this happen in my vision; I don't ever see her, but I see the heavenly forces rushing off to do battle against the swarm.

So the next day I'm talking to her, and before I can say anything she starts telling me about how she has always had trouble dealing with certain critical issues. They had been recently piling up and squeezing her to the point where she was starting to come apart and have a panic attack over how she was going to deal with them. She confessed that she’d dealt with it before by cutting herself (including her wrists) and that last night she was ready to do it again. Then she said, 'it was so weird, because all of a sudden this voice started telling me to get out, get out, leave, and something took me by the arms and dragged me out of the apartment and down to my car.' She ended up on a bench at the beach where a Bible she found and people she encountered helped her find peace with the issues.

When I pray, I usually know what I'm praying about, but I don't know the exact words (usually). But that's part of the point, in the Spirit we can pray over things we don't know about. And we can address them in ways our earthly mouths alone can't speak. So you better believe satan is going to copy cat this, and convince Christian warriors that hey, that sword has no edge.

Ah, but it does!

Hi: I am so sorry for being late catching this. I have company and sitting here checking
out all the posts and was surprised you caught mine, and I want to thank you for commenting.
You know, for few years it seemed my prayer language was always the same. I recall when
I first began speaking my prayer language I had a particular word all the time. I was still
unsure of my Baptism of Holy Spirit, afraid it was flesh. Until one day I was watching or
reading something, there was the one word and I was so awed... The word ? Nissi .....

Now past few years I noticed my language is less, but it is amazing to say I did have a
language that was something I could not even begin to guess which Country it would have
been. I just knew it was definitely a new language and it was prayer time in my room.
It was not in public. Why did it change ? I don't know, but it was a blessing to hear and
know God had a reason for it. I am sorry I can't help you, or give a better explanation.
It is odd isn't it ? The fact it was different. Almost as if it were more mature ? Wonder
why God did that? I just accept as something only the Holy Spirit and God had reason
I was not to know. God bless ~ Love in Christ ~ J~ K~2

Ricky I think I like that, If you want to call them darkies that's okay, but some might get the wrong impression. Praying in the Spirit (tongues) is the Holy Spirit praying through us. You might ask why would God need a man to pray through. Well Jesus prayed to the father and one point almost asked His will. He said Father if there is another way let this cup pass from me and praise His name He said nevertheless not my will but your will be done.

When we pray with our own understanding. we pray what we want. When we pray in the Spirit (tongues) we pray what the Father wants and guess what Father knows best.

@@ RickyZ.....I was writing same time you were. I just read yours and would like
to add that I really understand what your are saying. I have not been taken outside
my body or whatever happened to you. But I have also had the vision when doing
spiritual warfare and often praying in the Spirit I am seeing what is going on and
where the need is. For example: I should not use name or relationship but let's
say it is someone close to me and the horrible illness and thing that were happening
to this person took some really tough praying. My husband was my "if any two or
more are gathered" and he knew the reason we were praying so it helped make
this more intense power against the darkness. I want to describe what I was shown
about this person and what was going on in the home and like you, I was shown
the demons out side their house in the upstairs portion. It was not small like you
saw, these were dark and God showed me the spirits were literally drawing out
all spiritual energy. These people were Leaders in Church..... I have had to pray
many times for the same people. They were letting themselves be drawn into Novels
that were not feeding their spirit the right food, and thereby allowing spirits freedom
to roam around the house. I mean it was most serious.

Now one event I had many years ago, I like you, knew what I was praying for, even
though it was in the spirit. It was for my cousin who had gone to New York to be
in the ARTS.... I knew nothing about what he was doing, or lifestyle, etc. I wasn't
even in contact with him for years. I felt the urgency to go to a room I used to pray
for him. It was the most powerful prayer language and I knew he was in danger.
I could feel it. I don't to this day know what was averted by that obedience, but it
was intense and long. I never had one like that again. I am sad to say he was in the
homosexual lifestyle and only God knows what was going on that her required prayer.
But I am so blessed to have the sensitivity of the Holy Spirit when He feels I am the
one He chooses to let me know when there is a need and pray for others.

Bless you for sharing your experience. That was a WOW one. God bless.~ J~K~2
