This is a flat out lie, propaganda spewed by those who would minimize Paul's teachings so that they wouldn't be condemned by his words. Paul was chosen from his mother's womb by God. Paul was taught the gospel by Christ, in person, after Christ was resurrected. Paul's words ARE the words of Christ. Read Galatians chapter one and tell me how much of it is a lie.
Read the 5th chapter of Matthew and tell me how Christ put tradition (doctrine) of men in Pauls mouth to give us. Paul was given the apostleship of giving the gentile the gospel. Why? Because Christ was murdered before He could. See Daniel 9:27. Christ brought the gospel to the world. The jew in person, and the gentile thru Paul. Christ did not tell Paul to talk about customs and "temporal influences" of the time. Christ told Paul to talk about what it takes for us TODAY to obtain salvation and walk in the spirit.

Again, if your faith is in a day then you have defecated on the work of the cross and God will not accept it.

This is enlightening. You give all about lying, and spewing propaganda and the reason for it! It is to protect ourselves from condemnation!

And now we know why Christ died for our sins, besides! He was murdered! before He had a chance to bring the gospel to us.

I could read your posts better if you would leave out the lies, murders, spewing propaganda stuff and get to scripture.

It is evident there are many instances where certain theologies and sects will contradict the teachings of Yeshua in favor of teachings from Paul.

It is not that Paul and Yeshua have different teachings, it is that much of what Paul wrote is based on geographical, temporal and circumstantial influences on a given subject.

Many times, reading Paul, one must refer to all of his writings in order to determine exactly what has been taught to a particular congregation.

When one is confused on a topic, and there is confusion from Paul's writings, it is best to go to the words of the Master, providing there are words on the same subject.

There almost always are teachings from the Master on what Paul writes which clarify and satisfy one's needs.

That Concept is not Biblical, and there are no contradictions at all between what Yeshua taught and what the HOLY SPIRIT INSPIRED PAUL TO WRITE. Plus the theory that much of what Paul wrote is based on geographical, temporal and circumstantial influences on a given subject, is a total false statement, and all of Paul's writings are relevant for all Christians throughout the entire Church age. WHY? Because Paul did not choose the words, GOD DID!

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (GW)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that has God's approval.
[SUP]17 [/SUP] They equip God's servants so that they are completely prepared to do good things.

2 Peter 1:20-21 (GW)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] First, you must understand this: No prophecy in Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation.
[SUP]21 [/SUP] No prophecy ever originated from humans. Instead, it was given by the Holy Spirit as humans spoke under God's direction.

Either way, when Paul is taken out of context, many times, it seems to support arguments contrary to Yeshua's teachings. The same holds true for any line of the Word taken out of context. As regarding concepts of the Word, I do not look for them, I simply attempt to understand, with prayer, what I have read.

Yes prayer always helps, but GOD gave us an example to follow, to discern true from false:

The Thessalonians were said to have Noble Faith in the Word of GOD. This is because their faith remained rock solid without questioning or doubting. Because of that strong noble faith, Paul rarely had to explain anything to them in great detail. They just accepted it without question as being the will of GOD. For example:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-23 (HCSB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] Rejoice always!
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Pray constantly.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
[SUP]19 [/SUP] Don’t stifle the Spirit.
[SUP]20 [/SUP] Don’t despise prophecies,
[SUP]21 [/SUP] but test all things. Hold on to what is good.
[SUP]22 [/SUP] Stay away from every kind of evil.
[SUP]23 [/SUP] Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Now, do we see that unquestioning strong faith went Paul is talking to the Corinthians? NO! Paul has to explain EVERYTHING to them in GREAT DETAIL. It is they think like little children, and every time Paul makes a statement, they go: "WHY?" "WHY?" "WHY?" So that eagerness and boldness with which they accepted what Paul taught as genuinely being from God, is commendable, and referred to a Noble Faith.

BUT there is an even a BETTER example of what our faith in the Word of GOD should be like:

Acts 17:11 (NIV)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

They took it a step farther, they did not blindly accept it at face value, but they compared Scripture to Scripture daily, to make absolutely for certain, that what others were teaching them (including Paul) absolutely squared with Scripture with no contradictions.

rough thread.

Happy Sabbath. Happy Saturday.
We live in a rat-race society that prizes overtime shifts, and hates the idea of rest.

The Hebrew society was given a good law. Take a day off. Even God took a day off after Creation.
It's foolish to work 7 days a week. Being foolish is a sin.

Buy a hammock. Take a day off. Use the hammock. Ignore the lawn that needs to be mowed. There's always tomorrow for that.
*ahhh, Sabbath(rest)*

ps. yal are crazy for acting like Saturday is some special day of the week. Just find a day of the week, and rest on it. (i'm not judging those who rest on Saturdays, because I am with you on that one)

Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

Now if your Bible says "Sabbath of the Jews" here, return it and get your money back, it contains misprints. The Sabbath was made for the Jews?

Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

The word for man here is...

G444
ἄνθρωπος
anthrōpos
anth'-ro-pos
From G435 and ὤψ ōps (the countenance; from G3700); manfaced, that is, a human being: - certain, man.

It does not mean for Jew, it means human beings.

Are Gentiles to keep the Sabbath?

Isa 56:1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.

Isa 56:6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
Isa 56:7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

The word for stranger in verse 56...

H5236
נכר
nêkâr
nay-kawr'
From H5234; foreign, or (concretely) a foreigner, or (abstractly) heathendom: - alien, strange (+ -er).

A gentile, one who is not of Israel.

Who will keep the Sabbath in the Millennium?

Isa 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Notice that ALL FLESH will keep the Sabbath. Again, if your Bible says "Jewish flesh" here, return it and get your money back.

Christians who learn to abide in the Lord on a daily basis for both the strength and the wisdom to live the Christian life do keep the New Testsment Sabbath. In and of the flesh we can do nothing to save ourselves and that is why it is absolutely critical that we learn to place our complete trust and reliance on him DAILY. If not, we are doomed to walk in the flesh instead of the Spirit.

Read your bibles people. Only those who walk in the flesh are subject to the penalty of law during the New Testament dispensation in which we now live. For those of you attempting to enforce the Old Testament command of keeping the Saturday sabbath, you have completely missed one of the central themes of the New Testament; an abiding life.

How in the world can you justify saying that what Christ teaches in Matthew 5 contradicts anything that Paul teaches in his epistles? The Beattitudes present the status quo in the daily life of a New Testament Christian. If you believe that anything that Christ teaches conflicts with something that Paul teaches, then you clearly do not understand what either of them are teaching. The two are in perfect harmony with one another as both were being led by the Holy Spirit.

Phil,

Jaume isn't minimizing Paul's teachings or saying that Paul's words aren't Christ's. He's saying that Paul's words have a context to them that is important to consider, especially when there is the appearance of a contradiction between he and Jesus.

Don't be so melodramatic, brother.

Jesus doesn't say follow the law. He says do the law and teach the law.

Then The Lord teaches us that the law is aimed at your inner life, your heart and mind. The Lord shows us that its not enough, according to the law, to just abstain from physical adultery, but you must abstain from lust that comes from your heart.

What we find out is that the law has no power to change a persons heart. It only has the power to condemn the flesh.

So now the question arises, how do we follow something that we have no power to follow? Thank God for the Lord Jesus Christ. When we rest in His Work He changes us from the inside out. He gives us the Holy Spirit which changes our heart.

What we find out when our heart is changed by the Holy Spirit is that the only way to do the law is to love. Love isn't angry with a brother without a cause. Love doesn't look upon a woman to lust after her.

This love that does the law isn't produced by us, otherwise we wouldn't be able to rest in Christ. This love comes from God and is a fruit of what He gives us and grows inside us. The Holy Spirit.

Are you doing the law? Not if you are busy following after it by your own will, understanding and work. You are only doing the law if you rest from your works at it and abide in Christ. That's what Paul tries to teach the legalists but they can't seem to grasp it.

Grandpa,
You are certainly welcome to your interpretation of the matter. You and I have been around this mountain before and it's never really made much progress. This is just a matter of you and I disagreeing on something. There isn't much fruit in taking another trek around it.

Peace Brother,

AMEN! What many Christians do not understand, is Crucifixion normally took three agonizing days to die on the cross. And Christ was dead in a few hours. Even the Roman Soldiers were amazed that He was already dead, when they came to break the legs to speed up the dieing process.

I believe that you misunderstand. Christ taught that the greatest commandment is love and that we are to teach His commandments and the more excellent ministry of His righteousness.

Matthew 5
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Unquestionably therefore, "you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness."

Love is only the motive behind what you do. The do must be defined by God and guided by God.
