Research based on the careful observations of people who are already dead? The only one who can tell us anything about what happens after we die would be God (if he exists and if he chooses to reveal this information). Anything that people come up with is just speculation. But if the scriptures are true, and the prophets really did have the word of God, then the story about heaven and hell is true. So if you want to know the answer you should read what historians have to say about the legitimacy of scripture.

Did any of your research lead you to the One who actually died and rose three days afterwards?

Genesis 6:3 Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Daniel 12:2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.

These verses is saying that God were going to destroy the natural realm, but He have had a change of heart that He is not going to destroy it but give it what it is lacking from, but which He is going to restore it . He is going to combine His realm back with ours by making it into a multidimensional realm and which it will be able to do the things that of the spiritual realm can do. Adam was castaway from from God presence and which it had left him in just a plain ordinary natural realm that didn't had any life to it, like for an instance, he had to create his own food with physical strength, but before it just appeared when he desired it; but at the time the foods wasn't to appeased the flesh, but it had pleases the soul only. This realm will be like the third heaven and which it is not the realm that God resides in, but God will be their in this realm in a physical body at times. But in this state of being there is also the ones that had loved evil and which they be in the same realm, but separate. Ones will be in the light and the others be in the dark unable to cross over into each others realms. The ones that are in the dark will be living in a living nightmare forever; unable for the nightmares to stop. But since they had loved making a nightmare of all things in this life, so God is going to let them to enjoy the works of their labor, forever.

Paradise is a religious or metaphysical term for a place in which existence is positive, harmonious and eternal. It is conceptually a counter-image of the supposed miseries of human civilization, and in paradise there is only peace, prosperity, and happiness. Paradise is a place of contentment, but it is not necessarily a land of luxury and idleness. Paradise is often described as a "higher place", the holiest place, in contrast to this world, or underworlds such as Hell.
Paradisaical notions are cross-cultural, often laden with pastoral imagery, and may be cosmogonical or eschatological or both. In eschatological contexts, paradise is imagined as an abode of the virtuous dead. In Christian and Islamic understanding,Heaven is a paradisaical relief, evident for example in the Gospel of Luke when Jesus tells a penitent criminal crucified alongside him that they will be together in paradise. In old Egyptian beliefs, the otherworld is Aaru, the reed-fields of ideal hunting and fishing grounds where the dead lived after judgment. For the Celts, it was the Fortunate Isle of Mag Mell. For the classical Greeks, the Elysian fields was a paradisaical land of plenty where the heroic and righteous dead hoped to spend eternity. The Vedic Indians held that the physical body was destroyed by fire but recreated and reunited in the Third Heavenin a state of bliss. In the Zoroastrian Avesta, the "Best Existence" and the "House of Song" are places of the righteous dead. On the other hand, in cosmological contexts 'paradise' describes the world before it was tainted by evil. So for example, theAbrahamic faiths associate paradise with the Garden of Eden, that is, the perfect state of the world prior to the fall from grace, and the perfect state that will be restored in the World to Come.
The concept is a topos' in art and literature, particularly of the pre-Enlightenment era, a well-known representative of which isJohn Milton's Paradise Lost. A paradise should not be confused with a utopia, which is an alternative society.

Later in Second Temple era Judaism "paradise" came to be associated with the Garden of Eden and prophesies of restoration of Eden, and transferred to heaven. The Septuagintuses the word around 30 times, both of Eden, (Gen.2:7 etc.) and of Eden restored (Ezek. 28:13, 36:35 etc.). In the Apocalypse of Moses, Adam and Eve are expelled from paradise (instead of Eden) after having been tricked by the serpent. Later after the death of Adam, the Archangel Michael carries the body of Adam to be buried in Paradise, which is in the Third Heaven.

We go to the side of the "gulf" we belong to depending on our salvation. Just like Lazarus and the rich man and wait for judgment.

I do not believe in the death= translation to heaven/hell myth.
Gehenna (Hell/Lake of Fire) is not currently in use.
Jesus is currently preparing a place for Believers, to be received after the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
These places are put into use AFTER the Judgement.

Upon death, the righteous go to Abraham's Bosom/Paradise (not Heaven itself, but a heavenly place),
and the unrighteous go to Hades/Taurtarus/Death (not hell itself, but a hellish place).

Rest does not equal soul-sleep.

Heaven and hell are mis-spoken stories. There's no floating in the clouds playing harps. There is the gathering of His people when He returns (and it's a whole 'nother subject but I believe when we die we are caught up to that moment). Then we return here, to this world, for 1,000 years. Then this creation is decreated, a new one is created, and life on it is very much as it is now - only this time it will evolve the way it was meant to. There will be nations and commerce and travel and ... well, looking at what all we have here and now, and knowing it is only but 10% of what God created, I can't imagine having the other 90% to explore is going to be anything other than awesome.

The Bible teaches us of two distinct areas namely the heaven and hell. Heaven where God and the saved will be for a period before they will return to the new earth, and Hell where Satan and all his followers will perish. Death is being viewed as a state of unconciousness or deep sleep but the thoughts will never perish as the unsaved will know what they will be punished for when they are resurrected for destruction.

How can you even suggest that God does not exist? Just your existence is proof of God's work. Look at nature around you and you will notice His work. What has mankind created out of nothing? NOTHING AT ALL. What live creature has mankind created from nothing? NOTHING AT ALL. Have you noticed that a rose will always be the same colour, same smell and perfect plant each year after dying off during winter times? Only God can created such a thing. God does exist. The Bible is not speculation and what teaching we get from the Bible is not speculation. Many people have tried to prove the Bible wrong only to find that it is in fact correct. You need to study the Bible more and to find God and the truth rather than visiting all the sites where Satan planted seed of disbelief and corruption.

This is just for the people who believe that there is no hell.

  1. The dead unsaved ones will be resurrected.
Rev. 20:13 – “And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast to the lake of fire. This is the second death.

  1. Satan plus the resurrected unsaved gather together for the march towards the New Jerusalem.
Rev. 20:7-9 – “And when the 1000 years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, God and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.”

  1. Final destruction of Satan and his followers.
Rev. 20:14-15 – “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire, This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Please note that the death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.

Zeph. 3:8 – “Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.”

2 Pet 3:12 – “Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat. This is very similar to Noah’s case where the Ark (the saved ones inside) was floating on water and now the New Jerusalem (the saved ones inside) will be floating on the lava. In both cases the unsaved will be totally destroyed.

Pretty awesome the intense heat to melt all the elements. This earth will be like a ball of live lava, glowing hot and fire coming down from heaven. That is how this polluted earth, Satan and the non saved will be destroyed. That is the Hell Fire. People who have never seen rain before did not believe Noah when he had instruction from God to build the Ark but he knew God and trusted God and what happened? This whole earth earth was under water and everybody was destroyed except for the saved ones in the Ark. Do you want to take the chance to believe that there will be no destruction by fire? I know I won't.

The New Heavens and the New Earth is a biblical concept. I think you even mentioned it in your earlier post, so what are you disputing here, exactly?

It's easy to say others are "dreaming" and "reality" will show them the "opposite" of what they believe suggesting they get their belief from "comic strips".

Can you give us the real "reality" that lies ahead for we Christians as you see them without simply saying "Read your Bible?"

Now some of you have me searching.
Is there a passage that leads some to think that Believers go straight to Heaven when they die?
Such doctrine makes the Resurrection at the Return of Christ seem more like a step backward.

Keep on dreaming. When you wake up, reality will show you the opposite. Read your Bible and not some comic strips.
Just for starters from the Bible (cause I only have a minute right now):

1Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[SUP]a[/SUP] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[SUP]b[/SUP] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb
9One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia[SUP]c[/SUP] in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits[SUP]d[/SUP] thick.[SUP]e[/SUP]18The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.[SUP]f[/SUP]21The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
22I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

So just in this (from the Bible not the comics) we see that there will be:

A new earth - not clouds and harps
With nations and national rulers - that exist outside New Jerusalem where God rules from - a 'capital' of the new world if you will
The glory and honor of these nations are brought to the 'capital' - commerce
Those who live in these nations will enter/visit the 'capitol' - travel

Perhaps it is you who need to wake from the slumber and smell the Holy coffee..?

The Bible says if you live for Christ,to leave this earth is to be present with the Lord, and Jesus told the thief on the cross today you shall be with Me in paradise, which the soul will be with Jesus and not unconscience.

The Bible says that the wicked shall go in to the lower parts of the earth and Jesus told the story of the rich man who asked if Abraham could give him a little water and if he could go talk to his brothers so they would not receive the same fate.

Unless you are reading the NLT, 2 Corinthians 5:8 doesn't actually imply instant translation to the right hand of the Throne of God upon death.
It is a preference statement, not a doctrinal statement.

I agree with your position though. (Just not the well abused phrase/misinterpretation "absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".)

Where we go, and if we are conscience when we get there, are two different questions.

As far as where we go, that is answered in Luke 16:19-31. It tells us in very great detail. It is either to torment or to Abraham's side.

As far as if we are conscience when we get there, all biblical evidence seems to say yes- that both the righteous and unrighteous are conscience- even though from an earthly viewpoint Jesus says we are asleep. What I think this means is that even though we are unconscience physically speaking, we still exist- even though the body deteriorates. From a nonearthly viewpoint I believe both the righteous and unrighteous are conscience. In Revelation those who were beheaded for their testimony asked God how long before He judges those who did this- unconscience people can't ask questions. In the example of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16, the souls in torment were conscience and able to think, talk, and see. The rich man asked Abraham to have Lazarus dip his finger in water to cool his tongue, I don't think he would ask that if he seen Lazarus unconscience.

We go to sleep. We are awakened by a resurrection from the dead.
