here in NYS Hudson Valley, it's apple season, so crisp, pies, sauce...it's all in the works.
and you get to pick the apples yaself!
okay, i do have to order grapefruit from Florida next month...so thanks.
if you don't use a good baking apple, you might have to add some instant tapioca to the apples so they're not too, er juicy?
some ppl like to add spices to the apples, but i leave 'em naked.
and you can use the topping recipe for apple crumb pie. (mmm!--but cut it in half for one pie)
8 cups peeled, sliced apples
slam them into your 9x13 baking dish (no need to grease it)
2 C brown sugar
1 C flour
1 C oats
2 t cinnamon
2 t nutmeg
12 T softened butter, cut in chunks
easiest to use a pastry cutter, or a food processor, if you have one,
but mix the dry stuff and then cut in the butter till it's all blended,
or as 19 yo daughter says, serene, but not comatose. (don't ask me...she's nuts. lol)
put the topping on the apples, bake @ 350 for 30 minutes, or till apples are soft and topping is browning.
feed it to tourist warm with some vanilla ice cream. ♥
oh, man, now i'm thinking carrot cake!
(i don't eat this stuff, but my family inhales it all, and i love making it. )

Hello muddah, hello faddah
Here I am at Camp Granada
Camp is very entertaining
And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining.
I went hiking with Joe Spivy.
He developed poison ivy.
You remember Leonard Skinner
He got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner.
All the counselors hate the waiters
And the lake has alligators
And the head coach wants no sissies
So he reads to us from something called Ulysses.
Now I don't want this should scare ya
But my bunkmate has malaria.

They're about to organize a searching party.
Take me home, oh muddah, fadduh
Take me home, I hate Granada!
Don't leave me out in the forest
Where I might get eaten by a bear.
Take me home, I promise I will not make noise,
Or mes the house with other boys.
Oh, please don't make me stay,
I've been here one whole day.
Dearest fadduh, darling muddah,
How's my precious little bruddah?
