BTW, for those looking on, wondering how we went from discussing faith alone to discussing predestination,
the two topics are one in the same.

Either God chooses to save us, or we choose to save ourselves.

Genuine faith first .... good works next

Works without faith are dead and have no value

Do not follow religious movements that subject you to a set of selected dogmas

These will tell you if you do not follow their prescribed legalisms that you are not saved

You will also be told that your membership in their "cult like" organization is a requirement for your salvation

Today's professing church is filled with this devised methodology for gain .... stay away from them
Nuff said. No good works cancels faith. Works of righteousness compliment saving faith. Good works are the evidence God and man are looking for. Give that through Christ in you.

God loves His creation, and saves a Remnant.

Did God not love Israel?
Did He save all of it, or only a Remnant?

Did He not choose the Remnant, out of His Mercy and Sovereignty?
Did Daniel deserve to be saved from the sword when the Babylonians came? Or did God grant him safety and blessing, and give him a righteous spirit, and a purpose? Did Daniel choose to be exiled to Babylon?

Did Abraham deserve to be saved? Or did God choose Him, for His own purpose...
At the advent of Christ God concluded all under sin....until the time o the gentiles is fulgilled

Romans 11:25-27King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]25 [/SUP]For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

[SUP]27 [/SUP]For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

We believe in a Sovereign Lord, not in our own choices.
God owes us nothing. If not for His unfailing love and unchanging character, He could deny all of us salvation, and He would be Just in doing so. But He has given His Promise, and His Son, and will be faithful to complete this work of salvation on the Day of His glorious return.
but he gives us a choice...
John 1:12

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

How do you explain the words "chosen", "predestined", or "elect"? These words are all over the Word.
If God chose, then God chose.
How do you explain the verses that say that "no one seeks God".
If no one seeks God, yet people can be saved, then it is God's work alone.
God concluded all under sin....but in his kingdom there is order...twelve apostles ...twelve tribes...
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
[SUP]9 [/SUP](Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
[SUP]10 [/SUP]He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
[SUP]11 [/SUP]And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

You MUST admit that you did nothing to deserve salvation.
I pray that God will give you a Spirit to believe His Word as it stands.
I readily admit that...but salvation is not thrust upon us without our input...
Romans 2:4
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

[SUP]6 [/SUP]Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ

Paul is confident because they are keeping their part of the bargain.
no, Paul is confident because he believes and trusts God.

the Author.
the Finisher.
the One who began the work.
the One who will carry it to completion.
the One who is keeping His part of the bargain.

Paul confident in the flesh?? no way.

For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God
and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh

[SUP]19 [/SUP]Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

[SUP]20 [/SUP]For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

the scripture teaches faith without works is dead...not genuine faith...and works next,,,,it says faith without works is dead....so if your works comes next your faith is still dead...the contrast of faith without works, is faith with works....not works after faith

talk about twisting the word of God.

ps. Abraham was DECLARED righteous before he did one work.

Why? He had faith in God,

so much for your theory.

those men were healed physically, does not mean they were cleansed spiritually.
when God called Abram he responded immediately...don't lie on the man.....everytime God told him to do something he did it...
Hebrews 11:8
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went

Genesis 12:1
Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

how many times do you people have to be told. There is no such thing as true faith, which will never be followed by works.

So your asking an impossible question. it is not possible to have faith, which is not followed by works. So there will never be a person who has faith apart from works. Unless he had faith, then got killed before he was ABLE to have works. (ie thief on the cross) But he would still be saved.
James says .....
[SUP]14 [/SUP]What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
[SUP]15 [/SUP]If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

[SUP]18 [/SUP]Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Why do you think we disagree on man being responsible for his own sins? That is agreed. Man is 100% responsible.
We all deserve hell, because we chose to follow our own sinful desires, and rejected God.

Was Christ's death just a second chance for us to be perfect?

If it was merely a second chance, then we have all failed that too, and according to Hebrews, once salvation is lost it can not be regained because Christ will not be crucified all over again.

What is salvation?

Christ taking RESPONSIBILITY for our sin (for our wrong choice)!

He chose us as individuals to be His Bride, because He loves us.
Man is 100% responsible for their sin. God is 100% responsible for salvation.

Does this make God unjust or unloving? No.
11 Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: 12 not by works but by him who calls—she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”[d] 13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”[e]
14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses,
“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”[f]

16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”[g] 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
19 One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” 20 But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”[h] 21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?
22 What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction? 23 What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory— 24 even us, whom he also called

according to your belief....if God choose me or not ...it does not matter what I believe or what I claim....this is your quote
If you believe, then you were chosen. All those chosen are called, and His sheep know His voice, and respond.
No one comes who is not called.

God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

You are suggesting that God created people for the sole purpose of burning in hell. What kind of God is that, why preach the Gospel if it has been preordained who will be saved and who will not. It makes no since, I meant why spend the billions of dollars to preach the Gospel if it is already ordained. Why would Jesus say to the disciples preach the gospel to the ends of the Earth. I meant why?

First thing they need to do is fire their preacher, he is not needed, nothing he preaches will change a thing (according to him)

You are arguing against Paul, not me.
That whole post is a passage of Scripture and nothing more.

We preach the Gospel because we have faith that it will not return void, and because He commanded us to.

Good preachers don't save people. Only God can give faith. We are just harvesters of what is already sown.

How are those two somehow mutually exclusive? How is it that in your mind, "all those who believe will be saved", and "all those who believe are predestined" are somehow contradictory phrases?

The Scriptures are pretty clear that all those who believe were predestined before the Beginning.
Does your Bible version edit out every time it says words like "chosen", "elect", and "predestined"?

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

God seeks us out, and those who He predestined respond to His calling.
We are all responsible for our sin, and all chose to go to Hell because we rebelled against God. A conscious choice. No one is innocent.
Christ takes the responsibility of the elect upon Himself.

1 Timothy 2:3-4 (NKJV)
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

All men are called, but not all will hear their calling, if God preordained some to be lost then God is culpable of their loss.

OH no. Man is fully responsible for his rebellion against God. God does not owe anyone anything.
He doesn't owe mercy to the world.
What He gives is out of His grace and character.
